Hmm, Dame realizing he might still be in Portland next year and reeling in the Goodwin debacle? Interesting this is, to my knowledge, Dame's first public talk about the Blazers even if it's just implied by his love of PDX. Unless he's hinting that he loved the PDX airport carpet jerseys? In which case, Dame really has lost his mind!

It's love baby, I just don't want to play for you or represent you anymore or honor my contract. I just want to see other people. Actually, I just want one hot chick in Miami... but we're bullet-proof, baby.

Love and salutations for PDX are easy call for anyone when announced from a lovely beach in Miami?

Dame, of all people, just sounds like a big phony now.

So damn disappointing, He's loyalty personified, until he's not. Wanted to be the best Blazer ever, until he didn't. Will only go to one team, thus not caring one whit about the franchise that paid him a HALF A BILLION DOLLARS - and thus tying the franchise's hands. Never really talked about "championship or bust" as the be all and end all - not for 10 years - and then all of a sudden, it must be the Eastern Conference Champs or nothing.

I feel like I got suckered, or played for a sucker, or sucker punched.

What a frigin' bullshit phony talker.

What an interesting social experiment it would be if Damian is still actually the starting PG on opening night at the Rose Garden. Would we here a smattering of boos from the audience?

No blame on the front office at all huh, zero? Loyalty goes both ways

Do people not remember that K*be did something similar in 2007, but almost even worse?
He demanded a trade out of LAL, and had CHI, SAS and PHX on his list. Then Kupchak agreed to a trade with CHI, but K*be said "I'm not going there if they send Luol Deng back." So Kupchak tried to get different teams involved (including CLE for Lebron!), and DET said they're interested.
ESPN.com said:
"Eventually, Kupchak and Detroit Pistons general manager Joe Dumars agreed to terms on a possible trade. It was believed to have included Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton, among other pieces. Late team owner Dr. Jerry Buss presented that deal to Bryant, who rejected it because the Pistons were not on his list either.
That meeting started a thaw between the sides. Patience prevailed, and the following season the Lakers traded for Pau Gasol and started a run of three straight Finals appearances, two of which the Lakers won.
I've been thinking about this since the June 26 meeting...what if we don't get anything done now, but bring Dame back with the assumption we'll trade him at the deadline and things happen that make it so that we're getting the good players back instead of trading Dame? And maybe Dame can walk it back a bit and say something like "If ever I left Portland, I'd only be interested in MIA, but if that can't work out I'm here!"
Not saying any of you are wrong for pointing out the hypocrisy and walkback, but no L*ker fan I know says "I lost all respect for K*be in 2007 and hated that he came back and helped us win 2 more rings and retired after playing 20 years for the same team."

No, Fuck him

I don't think anyone commenting on this was watching the IG Live but I did catch it. This was anything but scripted he said on the Live that he was sober but he seemed like he meant in comparison to the people around him. This wasn't orchestrated, he said this off hand while talking about being down in the Dominican Republic with his people. Most of the thing was just Dame thanking people for birthday wishes and talking to his brother or cousin who had busted his face up because he was drunk and dove head first into a five foot pool and fucked up his face. The "love for PDX is bullet proof" thing was an off hand comment that took up probably less than one percent of the time I watched and I didn't stick around for the whole thing.

Oh and by the way for all of you who are into the dude's personal life, he said he couldn't be getting as drunk as some of his friends because he's a father and a married man.

I wish everyone could stop demonizing Dame. The dude is a highly motivated business person that has set a goal to get to Miami. The tactics that him and more so his agent are using might not be the smartest and they might not be what's best for the team he's still on but I don't blame Dame for trying to do what he sees as best for him.

I honestly think it's pathetic that many of you, actually the vast majority of you, are so in YOUR feelings that you think that you should factor into this equation as fans. The decisions he is making are real life decisions for him with real life consequences... this is a hobby for us, we're fucking fans, get over yourselves.

I'm always going to cheer for Dame he hasn't shit on us as a team or city one time, actually just the opposite. He gave this front office ample warning about what would happen if they went young, they went young and he did what he said he would. Does that go against him saying that he WANTED to spend his whole career here? That's debatable. I honestly think the many times he said that he would only leave if the team didn't choose him, is in his mind what happened. He said choose me or choose a youth rebuild and the team very obviously chose a youth rebuild.

This isn't me saying that Joe did the wrong thing, it's me saying that no one is the bad guy here.

Nice try from his PR team.
You didn't watch the IG Live or may have some serious problems with reading a situation. There was no spin involved he just responded for like ten seconds of a live stream that went on way longer than the fifteen minutes I watched. It was an offhand comment and far from the reason he did the video which was about showing where he was, thanking people for birthday wishes, talking about being 33 and having fun with his family and friends.

I'm not crapping on Dame, I understand he wants to go somewhere with a chance to win a ring and may have som personal things going on, we all do. I am just disappointed how he has handled this whole thing. Sooner he is out of here the better, but yes will always appreciate what he did here.

Nice job lecturing everyone though.

I think people just feel dumped and the only two parties they can take out frustrations on are Dame/Cronin. Cronin isn't out on IG live daily, so Dame is currently the punching bag.

I fully agree with you on everything else. As long as he doesn't go into the HOF as a member of he Heat, he always is an adopted PNW mainstay to me. He and his family are too embedded in the community to up and leave.
