"As a friend and a teammate, I love CJ, that’s like a real friend of mine, not just my teammate. We always been transparent and nothing was different this time where it was like, “I think something could happen” and he was like “Yeah, I know something is going to be coming up.” It is what it is, we both knew that this point would be coming. But that don’t make it no easier to deal with. I think that’s where I am now. Me and him literally talked about it happening, the possibility of it and it was likely and stuff like that, and I still woke up this morning like, sad. It’s actually done. When I’m seeing “CJ To The Pelicans” and stuff like that, it’s like damn, ain’t no coming back from this, this is it. It ain’t gonna be no every day, pull up to the house, dinner on the road, all that stuff. It’s done, he’s on a new team. As much as I understood it and he understood it and we kind of have always communicated in a transparent way, it don’t make it any easier to deal with or to look at. Like man, is it really over? Is the run really over? And that’s where we are."

Sadly, "the run" wasn't more successful.

If there was any question, there isn’t now: Dame is gonna see whatever Cronin has planned through.

Yup. I can't remember a bigger off-season. 2016 doesn't count lol.

Yeah I'm sad too.

Of course we would've all wanted more wins the last 9 years.

But I think there's a lot of fans not fully appreciating the playoffs series wins and how much CJ allowed Dame to shine.

For me, my heart is Portland Trail Blazer. I want to win it. I know that I have a plan that’s going to put me on my best level when I come back to play. And I want our team to fit that. I’m a huge fan of Chauncey Billups. I love Chauncey, we’ve got a great relationship and I think he’ll continue to grow into the head coach that he wants to be. And I’m a Joe Cronin fan. In his position I think it takes being bold and doing bold things, doing what you see fit and standing on it. He’s told me that our plan is to build a winning team, not to rebuild. Because we had a prior relationship to him becoming GM, I trust his word.

I’m at peace, I’m doing what I’ve got to do to get myself right and being at home with my family. I’m just waiting patiently to let things unfold and allow him to execute his plan. Once we get there and we see what that looks like and what that is, then I’ll have, I guess, more feelings that I have now but you’ve got to allow him to do his job and see what that finished product is. That’s just where I am.

Nowhere near this. Lol.

Olshey off-seasons always underwhelmed.
This last one wasn’t just underwhelming. It was a slap in the face. Dame was pissed. We got embarrassed and this mother fucker was still saying it’s the coach and the roster is fine.

What’s still baffling to me is how we’re going to build a winning team. It’s like we tore it down and now we’re just going to build it right back with these amazing players. With what? I mean we don’t really have the pieces to trade for star type talent and it’s obvious we won’t get any free agent signings worth a damn.

But I keep reading about the great team we’re going to build, now that we gutted the team. I’m sorry but no TPE or lottery pick is going to net us a star quality player.

No? Two of the Top 5 picks in the 2019 draft are already All Stars and another guy will be an All Star.

Who do you see as All Stars in this draft?
There almost always are a couple every draft. Sure some years are better than others and the scouts and media usually know, but that said there are incredible players in almost every draft. It's about finding them and the thing is every team thinks they can find them if the draft pick is high enough.

Agreed. We are headed for a long rebuild. The team is either being misleading in their statements, or their delusional.

I hate seeing Stockholm Syndrome ....

But what about all the amazing draft picks we got back in these deals?

at the same time Dame took a back seat when CJ was playing well

If get 2 top 10 picks in this draft they probably help us right away if they don't blow it.
If they have two lotto picks in what looks to be an okay draft and they end up playing those guys rotation minutes (25+), fans are going to have to be patient as it's likely to be the beginning of a really rough year & era. For reference, on the heals of what was thought to be a great draft the Orlando Magic are playing two lotto rookies big minutes and have the worst record in the league. With whats been done thus far gutting the roster of long term financial commitments, it seems like PDX's management is primarily clearing the books for a franchise sale. Short of a miracle, it's hard for me to see how they'll have a competitive roster next season.

c'mon...won't know for sure until it's at least worked and explored. This is the kind of strategy that Olshey was allergic to. He was so fucking welded to CJ he let multiple opportunities to pair Dame with an actual elite player pass by without any honest attempt to land that player

I know you've been pushing for Portland to trade Dame, but it isn't going to happen unless Dame demands it, and that isn't happening soon. This entire plan may very well fall apart, and probably has less than an even chance of succeeding, but the Blazers owe Dame at least one honest attempt at building a contender around him. Olshey never did that

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic. This post is tinted with a slight bit of optimism.

I'm still affected by the anesthesia from my colonoscopy 48 hours ago. Once that wears off, I'll be back to full-tilt cynicism
