Dame: Wont be the same reaction as last year.

I agree. I don't think Dirk makes it, but I'd be surprised if Davis doesn't make it. He's averaging 23 and 10.
Anthony Davis shouldn't be automatic. Cousins only made it last year as an injury sub and had better stats on an equally terrible team. I think damian's stats are more impressive than davis'and his team is playing better.

Dame should be ahead of klay as well, but I imagine they will want 3 Warriors in the game.

Offensively you might be right, but defensively Davis is kicking his ass.

And actually, Davis only averaing 1 ppg less than Dame, but shooting close to 50% from the field and shooting 2 FGA less per game. He also has a higher PER.

With all of the deserving players out there, it's just too easy to pass over the small market team. I think he doesn't make the cut unless someone gets injured.

I think he is either last in or first out. And not saying it would happen but if there is one person that Kobe would think about sitting out to get on the team then it is Dame.

This is one year where I don't mind if he makes the team. Typically I don't want ANY Blazers in the AS game, but since we're not going anywhere as a team I don't see any negative impact to playing, or positive impact to resting.
But it's the All Star game, so I really don't give a shit one way or the other.

I don't think there's any way Kobe sits out. This is his victory lap around the league, and the All-Star game is when they're going to make a big deal about him.

Our best chance at luring free agents is through Dame. Him being in the ASG helps that cause on a variety of levels IMO.

Agreed. He needs to start recruiting and colluding like LeBron/Bosh/Wade did back in 2008.

Maybe he can offer Durant a spot on one of his next songs.

AND we're within spitting distance of the playoffs, which NOBODY expected after losing 4/5 of our starting unit.

Still, I'm just not sure.... I think the Warriors will get at least two, and maybe three, All-Stars because of their record.

Last year there were 7 guards on the west roster.

4 F/C players.

2 Forwards.

1 center.

The guards were Curry, Bryant, Klay Thompson, Westbrook, Harden, Paul, and Dame.

We already know that Curry and Westbrook are in. I expect Harden and Paul will make the team as well. It's a 12 man team.

Starters

Curry
Westbrook
Kobe
Kawhi
Durant

That leaves 7 spots. I think the sure things are:

Harden
Draymond
Anthony Davis
DeMarcus Cousins
Paul

So that's 10. Two spots left.

Do the Spurs get a second guy? Aldridge? Duncan?

Do the Warriors get a third guy? Klay Thompson?

Do the Clips get a second guy? Blake Griffin? DeAndre Jordan?

Someone is going to get left out, and my gut tells me that Dame is going to get snubbed for someone like Klay. I just hope Aldridge doesn't make it.

Man, I cant stand that I liked this....

Nate, one thing is clear,I liked it ,because I agree with your assessment. Not that I agree with THE assessment....

I just don't understand making something that's supposed to be an individual achievement into something that's (at least partially) about team achievement.
Team achievament has been a large factor in how the coaches fill out the AS roster every single year. Not understanding/accepting reality doesn't have much to do with anything.

The entire purpose of the game is to entertain the fans, and seeing someone like Kyle Korver out there isn't entertaining.
& yet Kyle Korver was a 2015 All Star. Why? Because he was a good player on a team with a gaudy record & the coaches reward that.

With Blake griffin out for multiple weeks, does that help dame get in as a wild card?

Well shit, why not just pick the starting fives for the Spurs and the Warriors and call it a day?

Blake out, and now AD out with a concussion. Dame might get the injury replacement nod again.

AD will be back in no time; I seriously doubt the concussion will have any impact (pun not intended) on his all-star chances (which really shouldn't be in doubt).

3 time all star dame and two of them because of injuries? :(

Nate with his beloved overboard hysterics lol...

too bad Zaza fell just short of being named a starter by the fans.

You know what man, we were discussing the topic and then you made it personal. It's no wonder there's nobody on the Ducks forum anymore. You're incapable of keeping it on topic.

Carry on, I guess. :sigh:

Reserves:
BC - Harden, Paul
FC - Cousins, Green, Davis
WC - Lillard, Thompson

I agree with that but what scares me is they go with Dirk instead of Dame
Dame was a replacement last year before Dirk and Dames raised his level of play while Dirk hasn't.

Reserves:
BC - Harden, Paul
FC - Cousins, Green, Davis
WC - Lillard, Thompson
It's the only result that really makes any sense. If it shakes out that way, the "who got snubbed" discussion will all be centered on the question of "Aren't the Spurs good enough that they deserve two all-stars?", because there won't actually be anyone they can point to to say "That player really deserved to be in over this other player."

Then again, maybe the NBA wants the "who got snubbed" discussion...:dunno:

same old silly Nate. The topic started off as a link an article assessing DL's season, AS chances & how his reaction will be different then last year if he doesn't make it. Like most threads of any length it's gone in many different directions including your completely nonsensical claims about what the game is and should be about (statistical achievement). I interjected what the game actually is and has been about since forever... a popularity contest for the starters from the fan vote & the coaches filling out the rest of the roster as they subjectively see fit which has always included factoring in team performance. You respond to reality by veering even further off into never never land saying they should just add the rest of the W's/Spurs roster then.... & I'm the one who can't stay on topic??? Predictable as the sun rising in the East that you can't accept reality and are angry at those who point it out.

Well, my post was still on topic, i.e. about who should be in the allstar game. Your post called me out as a person, which is pretty much how all our debates go. Why can't you just comment on the post and not the poster?
