Lillard said he learned from Rahe how to try to do the right thing all the time, even when that action might not necessarily make other people happy.

“One of the main things that stuck with me from Coach Rahe was, don’t try to be popular,” he said.

“There are times when you want to be cool with everybody and be accepted, but sometimes you have to do things that won’t please everybody. You’ve got to be willing to make tough decisions, even though everybody might not love it.”

Lillard says he has always believed in himself, even during trying times in his basketball career.

He said that belief and hard work are what got him to where he is today.

Anyone buying a Lillard jersey sight unseen?

Anyone buying a Lillard jersey sight unseen?

Yup.

His goal from the time he could remember was to make it to the NBA, but now that he has achieved that as the sixth overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, he’s focused on reaching new heights.

“I want to be rookie of the year,” he said. “I want to be an All-Star in the next few years, and after that, I want to be in the Olympics in 2016.”

Although he has set some lofty goals and had some early NBA success by winning the most valuable player award for the NBA’s Las Vegas summer league, Lillard seems to have maintained his humility.

yeah. just contemplating the jersey choice so I could get some street cred at early blazer games, you know...before everyone knows about him. #hipsterfan

Dude, you're a hipster, you have no street cred.

Are they being sold yet? My Bayless jersey is collecting mothballs.

they are being sold but ship date is september or something stupid like that. i tried to buy one last week but that stopped me from doing so.

"This is a presell item - reserve yours today!"

...maybe you should custom order a Kostas Papanikolaou or even a Giorgos Printezis jersey instead :dunno:

If this rookie PG starts letting LA what he needs to do and how to do it........ do you think LA will listen? I think if he is bringing it on the court even night, he will.

First time he does a Miller like toss to the rim, yeah, he will listen

Somewhere Travis Outlaw is rubbing his chin and looking pensive

STOMP

Outlaw was fortunate to have a coach who let him be a true offense-orientated 6th man for a 54-win team. It made Travis a rich man on his next contract, when is obvious flaws were exposed on lesser teams with lesser coaches.

I'm still smarting from that John Diebler jersey I bought at the start of summer league.

I'm really pumped about this kid. I think he's going to end up being the best point guard in Blazer history.

Can't wait for the season to start!!

I hope so, but he's got a ways to go to measure up to TP.

Ok, but I want to win a championship. Can we please fit that in there somewhere.

I think he's just being realistic. He won't be able to win a title until he goes to Miami or the Lakers.

He's already a better passer than Porter, in my opinion. I'll bet he turns out to be a better shooter, as well.

I want to see him play a few NBA games and actualy make some passes to even think he is better than TP..

I like the kid and I'm hopeful he'll do well, but c'mon now.

somebody has been hitting the sauce. Take it easy shooter, your live won't last long enough to see him win a play off series.
