Why don't any of our local media guys get these scoops? Does Chris Haynes still have a better relationship with Dame and his camp than anyone still in POR?
Bro! NOBODY trusts the local media!

After seeing this leak last night on the flight home and reading this thread, one thing I noticed that nobody is mentioning.......

WHO leaked this info and WHY?

Seriously, if the meeting with Mr. Allen had gone well and Dame got the answers he wanted to hear...... why leak that this meeting even happened? What can you gain from a meeting with the team owner is put out to the public? A lot of things to take from this. He didn't use the chain of command either and went above Neil's head, so does that shed some light on their relationship?
There is nothing about "meetings" with the owner of a team, but it being leaked kinda' changes everything.
I don't know anything about any of this, but these are a couple things that I thought of right away when seeing Chris' tweet.

Since I’m almost 100% sure this is coming from Dames camp, considering it’s Haynes, I think the point was to put pressure on Olshey. Also to reaffirm that Stotts is his guy, and if one of them has to go, it should be Neil.

So how long until Woj releases some counter propaganda from Neil's side to try to offset the damage this Haynes story appears to do to his image?

I know Stotts get's blasted by many on here, but I think it's great that his star player went straight to the top and went to bat for him. Looks like Milwaukee didn't even ask Antitumbkoumbatoco what he thought about Kidd.

I think Olshey is in trouble after reading the article. There really isn't much he can do at this point. You don't make a trade just to be making a trading, it has to have a purpose. His trading of Barton looks really stupid now. And Aflallo was a big mistake. HCP has mentioned that Aflallo is a dick. He probably didn't mesh well with the locker room.
Hindsight has nothing to do with how poor this trade was. Some of us were saying it was a bad trade when we made it initially.

Nobody wanted to see it, either.
Yeah, because if there's one thing this board never does, it's latch on to unheralded prospects who we think will be better than the national guessers. If only we had a few-thousand posts thread or two about the draft and prospects and the like...

Veeeeeery interesting...........

I love Dame and his loyalty but he's too close to the situation - Terry Stotts has had what, 6 or 7 seasons to get this team going? That's unbelievable job security as a coach in the NBA and he's had his opportunity. We repeatedly give career nights to players on opposing teams without adjustment. Stotts needs to go no question about it. Neil hasn't been perfect but I think he's been pretty good at player acquisition. Damian, CJ, Nurk, Shabazz?

It's a complete farce to say this team doesn't have the talent to compete or the right pieces. Can they be improved? Sure, but if you expect a trade to fix our problems then I have a bridge to sell you. Like Milwaukee, we are under-performing according to our talent. We need a coach who will give discipline to our guards instead of letting them jack up the first shot they see - Aminu too. Run the ball through Nurk please and keep him involved. We know what kind of player he can be if he's involved.

If San Antonio is willing to give up Leonard for Love (they wouldn't, IMO), Cleveland would just trade directly with San Antonio. They need a two-way wing much more than they need another defense-deficient scoring guard. Not to mention Leonard is a far better player than McCollum.

There is not a coach alive who could have taken the exact same rosters that Stotts has had any further in the playoffs. Not saying that there aren't better coaches out there than Stotts but the Blazers have failed to advance in the playoffs straight up because of a lack of talent.

Kidd's available. Dame meets with Allen. Coincidence?

I’d also argue making the playoffs has been an overachievement.

Two thoughts.

1. I don't see any trade that could catapult us past the Warriors (or maybe even Houston, Cleveland, SAS, OKC)

2. In reading between the lines, I guess it's kind of encouraging that Dame thinks there is

How do we know that Lillard just didn't ask PA to be godfather to his soon to be born baby?

That actually works salary wise (and gets us under the luxury tax threshold, too). Throw in role players and picks as necessary.

But, if you can get Kawhi Leonard, the hell with worrying about the luxury tax. You do whatever it takes.

BNM

Why would Cavs take McCollum instead of Leonard? Not to mention Cavs have better assets outside of Love to offer than we would have - Brooklyn pick, IT, Crowder etc.

And no way Spurs would want Love. He would just get into Aldridge's way.

This thread somehow stimulated this thought: Stotts philosophy seems to be that even though he lets one opposing player go crazy with scoring; if he holds the rest down, then it's OK. How can we test this theory? Are there many game where a guy goes for a career high and the Blazers win? I can't remember any; it seems the team that has the career guy high always beats us.

Just about every night there is some player that goes off in an NBA game and the fans for the losing team complains that they should have been guarded more. See Cousins last night for example.

I submit the difference is, Boogie had AD (34/9/5) as a sidekick. Last night, Murray had NOTHING else.
