Damian Lillard, most underrated player?

I feel like he will have another solid two years and then slowly fade away and people will just be like oh yeah that was Lamarcus, he had a great fade away and was great for a few years but that was about it. It's unfortunate. I feel like he could of been so much better with the right mind set. Another unfortunate thing is going to San Antonio where you have two legend bigs in David Robinson and Tim Duncan. Good luck being remembered there especially when Kawhi is the Spurs golden child. Now THATS a place you will serve as number 2
Lamarcus Aldridge "The fadeaway" could be a great autobiography title for him.

Also I'm not sure about a great two years. If pop tries to play Aldridge ball he will fail for a few seasons until he retires to focus on coaching the Olympic team. Aldridge can't carry a team like dirk did in 2011. He showed he can play that great, but can't sustain it. What he did against the rockets was amazing, the kind of stuff they would show on the highlight real of a HOF player. But ultimately it will be a forgotten performance. Lillard has already led the Blazers as far in his one year as Aldridge in his many. Should Dame help lead this team to the finals, or further, he is who rip city will cling to. Blazer fans grow further removed from names like Walton and the late great Kersey, and so Rip City is ready to embrace the next King. After years of hoping Aldridge would be that guy he did us a solid and showed us he wasn't. I think it's almost irrational for Blazer fans to be mad at LA for leaving, because at the end of the day it was he who opened the door.

However I will never forget his pretty insane performances against houston in the playoffs. A lot of nights though I felt like he just kinda got his shots and was lazy. Other nights he was money from everywhere. I sometimes thought he was underrated a few years back but man Kevin Love was killing it in Minnesota. When people would try and say Blake was better than him though I would stand up for Lamarcus.

I agree I kinda just through a couple years out there but I could see him taking a huge dip this year actually. His mentality is odd and I think with age we could see him regress quite a bit. He is a blazer we will all say was one of the better Blazers but we wont really care to mention him like a walton or a drexler just based off how he left us. Dame is a different kind of animal and it shows on and off the court. Hes the Blazer people will put right up there with walton and drexler at the end of his career and I fully believe that one

Me either, but I know 10 years from now when I think about that series I will think about dames shot. Shit even now when I think about that series dames shot is the first thing that comes to mind. I think that's what they call foreshadowing. Could have very well been Aldridges tale had he stayed here. Put in solid work, but ultimately Dame is going to be star of the story.

After Aldridge's amazing performances in that series, all anyone remembered or talked about was Dame's 0.9 game/set/match. I think that was the biggest factor in him leaving. Jealosy.

Amiu?

Great vid overall though.

I like the Webber comparison and it made me think... could you imagine a prime Webber on our team now? We would have rings. Plural.

I think he should have dove into the transition a bit more though.
The transition from LMPUKE to Dame as the Leader.

I think what bumps Dame into the Superstar category, and yes, I think if he puts up the same numbers as last year or equivalent to, he is a superstar, is how he too,k the leadership reigns and ran with it.

Compare him to some like players in the back court.

Harden
Paul
Westbrook
Conley
Irving

There is only one guy on that list that I would consider as superior to Dame overall and that's because he is also a very good leader from what I have read and witnessed. Paul.
Other than that, I would take Dame hands down over anyone else on that list because Dame knows team ball and how to make his teammates better. That's what makes Dame a superstar and an equal to those on the above list when you compare them in a complete package.

Dame will go down as the greatest Blazer ever.

Good thing I have been around. DAME IS FEAST OR FAMINE-Tunchi

Lol

Listen Lillard is rated perfectly fine. He shot 41% from the field this past year for god sakes.

I personally think cj is waaaay underrated. Wait till he learns to go to the line more. That's the only part Dame has cj beat in

Lmao he shot 42%, whole shooting a lot of 3s, so his FG%wouldn't be as good as a slashing SF.

He was also the main hall handler on a team that only had two, whole also playing around a bunch of unproven, non-offensive players. It's hard to score at an efficient clip when your running pick n rolls with Noah Vonleh with Aminu being the spot up option on the wing. Defenses won't pay them no mind.

Lillard gets to the line more because he's quicker and a better slasher/driver them CJ. CJ is better at creating space. Dame is also a better finisher and passer than CJ while also being the leader and clutch time performer.

The only thing you ever look at is FG%. And because it's not 3 points higher, you knock Dame, even though the reason it isn't is because of circumstances out of his control.

Yea I did knock him this past season for that. For this season I'm ready to judge him on a fresh start. I can't wait to see where he's improved on.

I'll be very happy to say he got better this year.

Like I said, if Dame wanted to, he could be shooting 42 percent or more from three if he really wanted to pick his shots wisely but he literally had to do whatever it took for 75 percent of the season till we saw them evolve as a team and finally click together. So yeah, he put up a lot of shots which leads to that 39 percent from three. I think we are all logical enough to know dame is a better three point shooter than 39 percent. I agree on CJ being underrated though. Everybody talks Klay Thompson as being one of the best SG's which he is but I think CJ will pass him up. Their stats were nearly identical last season but you would think Klay was a superstar by how people hype him up. What Klay has that CJ doesn't is decent defense. I think CJ is a better shot creator and finisher around the rim. I mean that's why we signed this guy long term. Dame and him will become the best back court in the league. CJ could potentially be an all star this season. I am not gonna do the blasphemous thing and compare cj and dame and also not gonna talk about trading CJ for nerlens noel or jahlil okafor whichever it was. When I saw it on this forum it made me sick and still does to this day

Let me start by saying I LOVE CJ I paid $100 last year to cop his jersey cause I love his game we even share the same first and middle name! I agree with everything you said BUT I cannot in good conscience agree he will pass up that greasy goatee wearing MF klay thompson. If you want to talk about most underrated all-star level player klay needs to be on that list in my opinion even tho everyone thinks of gs as the best backcourt in the league klay gets slept on a ton. That man is a beast on both ends of the floor he's the best 2 guard in the league imo and its not really that close. But no one really talks about him with the respect he deserves cause steph draymond and now Durant overshadow him.

he's overrated to me. Like I said check the numbers CJ and him are identical minus the tiny bit better fg percentage of Klay and better defense but to each his own I guess
