As the Portland Trail Blazers continue to make their pitch for Carmelo Anthony, star point guard Damian Lillard has a message for the defending NBAchampion Golden State Warriors.

Per Joe Freeman of The Oregonian (via Drew Shiller of CSNBayArea.com), Lillard wished the Warriors "good luck" if the Blazers trade for Anthony and the two teams square off in the playoffs:

"I can only imagine what it would be like having him iso'ing on one side, and C.J. in a corner, and me on the opposite wing and Nurk (Jusuf Nurkic)...I can only imagine how hard it would be to guard us when it's already hard to guard us.

"We can compete with anybody in the West, but I think when you get to those teams like Golden State, if we happen to run into them in a playoff situation now—we getting in the paint, and if they want to help off someone like Melo...good luck."

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported July 17 the Trail Blazers are hoping to get in trade conversations with the New York Knicks about Anthony, but it would require him to waive his no-trade clause.

In the same report, though, Wojnarowski noted Anthony is "counting on the [Knicks] to carry out its previously agreed upon mandate to trade him to the Houston Rockets."

Blazers star C.J. McCollum told Freeman Wednesday he believes Anthony is "interested" in joining the team.

The Blazers know the Warriors well thanks to meeting in the playoffs each of the last two years. The Warriors won both series, including a four-game sweep in the first round this season. Portland hasn't advanced past the second round of the postseason since 2000.

Bleacher Report!

He said a team "like golden state" ... he meant good luck to ANY of the teams that are like (or unlike) GSW.

Jesus that's a stupid headline.

"...we getting in the paint, and if they want to help off someone like Melo...good luck."

Good luck on leaving Melo wide open. That's all Lillard said. It wasn't, "we'll be better than Golden State," it was, "Carmelo Anthony is a good offensive player."

Speaking of BleacherReport I saw an article suggesting a Crabbe for Matthews swap. Personally I would do this in a heartbeat, but I hate Allen Crabbe and his contract so Im not without bias here. What do you guys think? Bring back Wessy Wes?

Everyone remembers Wes for what he was.... not what he is or what he will be.

Love Wes but I'd rather roll with Crabbe.

That would be tough. I still hope Crabbe might turn it around a bit on defense, but Matthews would be a great addition to this team and we'd save a bit of coin too.

Figured I'd post this here...

I was watching a National Geographic show about octopuses with my nephew yesterday and they were talking about how they can squeeze through anything bigger than their beak. They had a contortionist challenge the octopus and I kid you not they said that the contortionist "has been squeezing himself through tight areas since birth", Shit cracked me up big time.

Dame | TBD
McCollum | TBD
Melo | Turner | Layman
Swanigan | Aminu
Nurkic | Collins

IMO Gutierrez earned himself a camp invite. At worst he's Steve Blake.

RJ Hunter should get an invite - ONLY as a spot-up shooter. He'll never be a PG. Once he accepts his JJ Reddick role I think he could be a diamond in the rough pickup.

In before MM mentions the laugh the Warriors are having over imagining the Blazers' defense with that lineup.

First team to miss a shot loses.

It's sad to me that our best player still doesn't get that defense wins championships.

What was the actual quote? I missed it.
"We can compete with anybody in the West, but I think when you get to those teams like Golden State, if we happen to run into them in a playoff situation now—we getting in the paint, and if they want to help off someone like Melo...good luck."

Yeah, I read that and after re reading it, it seems to me like he's just giving Melo props. MFs need to get outta their feelings.

This is the kind of shit they pull...

Dame - "we don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here. If you're thinking,'I don't want to be a blazer.' Then we don't want you."

Media - "Dame Lillard says 'I don't want to be a blazer."

This is a hypothetical, right?

Dear John Canzano,

My sources tell me that Damian hates being a Blazer.

"I don't want to be a blazer." ~Damian Lillard.

You think Canzano actually needs a quote to make up shit like that?
