Zombie Damian Lillard to request trade in coming days (nope, he's not.) (1 Viewer)

siakam. even their stats are like identical. now if we can only get him without trading CJ or Nurk, we would have recreated the Kwame + Marc for Pau deal.

Not with his hip issue - he could easily be impacted from this like it did Isaiah Thomas.

Stotts ran 80% of his plays for Aldridge postups near the end. But in terms of talent I agree. That fucked us.

Are you using hyperbole to be dramatic or do you believe the 80% number?

The media on both a national and local level have been on a witch-hunt seemingly to convince Lillard that he actually wants a trade instead of letting the situation develop organically.

I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s almost like if they relay it enough times maybe we can brainwash Lillard into actually wanting out of Portland.

now if next year at this time we don’t see changes to the roster and it’s the same ol’. I would personally want Lillard to go and win something somewhere else.

Got any data to back that up? That would be unheard of in the NBA.

When I worked for Synergy, I never saw any data that a player in the NBA or D1 who had even 50% of plays be a post up or ISO. 30-40% would be high.

No, and don't bother wasting your time looking it up. I just mean he ran too much of it to the detriment of the team.

Also, I said former, not latter.

I will say it again -- Will Dame ask for a trade --- MAYBE but not this offseason but next if the team cannot make a good run then i would say a pretty good chance THEN Dame would ask out but til then enjoy the season and hope NeO can do something to help the team and Dame.

What do you do, by the way. If you don't mind me asking. Always thought your alignment with Stotts (or the coaching not being much of a factor) stuff was based on working for Synergy.

Software Engineer? Statistician?

i don't think dame is hard to cover at all from a journalist's perspective. he's as genuine and forthcoming as they come and has a very tight knit circle who think and act like him in his best interest.

some guy in LA digging for rumors has no say on this matter. comparing him to KD is idiotic.

Ever see the movie "The Natural"?

There definitely are people in the field that want to be powerbrokers. They feed on sewing chaos and parties getting swept up in it and overreacting. There are a lot of good journalists, but, unfortunately, and especially in this day and age of a 24-hour news cycle and everything at your fingertips, it's made it easier for frustrated GMs, coaches, and players to go into reporting and try to make things happen and use it to build their own personality cult. If you keep your poise and watch closely, the Skip Baylesses of the industry throw stuff at the wall and the professionals don't respond and he's quickly on to doing the same thing somewhere else so people don't notice that he's selling a lot of hot air and nothing else ... if people just keep their cool and don't react immediately.

I don't mind you asking!

I logged games for them from 05-07, but ended up getting a "real" job elsewhere, which turned out to be a mistake as they've grown so much since I left!

To get my foot in the door I was a level 1, which meant I would only break up when a possession started and stopped and passed it along. Then (level 2) I would identify who was on the court for each possession. Then I started logging the outcome of each possession. After that I started to identify and tag actions that teams ran. The cool part was I could see any game in real time and/or rewatch games using their query features. For example, I could go back and watch a Blazer game, but only the clips where we scored, or clips where Telfair had an assist.

Having played and coached up to that point, I was blown back by how many assumptions and passed down theories about the game I believed that were not backed by data. Kinda humbling.

You're 100% accurate that those countless hours and the data I saw has influenced what I think really matters. Just to be fair to anyone who is reading my posts for the first time: I don't think coaching is worthless and has zero impact, I just think it has a much lesser impact than most people here.

Neil is on it, with his new partner Chauncey. If Dame comes out says "Im not asking for a trade" give Olshey & Chauncey prop's. Dont just beat the guy down, its not productive.
