Just listen from 12:30-16:00. He wants to be here, he wants to win here. If the team doesn't improve under Billups and/or a big move isn't made then I think he makes a request within 1-2 years.
True - until you realize that everything is riding in this guy's hands. This should ease some tension.View attachment 40394
Reading all this, he's not threatening divorce. But he's threatening to threaten divorce if the team doesn't finally get its shit together.
I think he's putting pressure on the franchise to win soon or he's out.
If he's still here in two years it's fantastic news. We're a contender and he's still committed.
But I think it's more likely the team isn't very good and he's forcing himself out by next summer.
I got an off topic question. What’s he hiding from?
Everyone needs to hear the interview from the 12 min mark on. That should effectively close this thread.
"We gotta do better. I have always said I want to play in Portland. I want to win in Portland and I still feel that way. And if we can't get out of the first round, then we gotta do get better. (The pressure) is coming from a standpoint of where I am fully invested, not from a standpoint of where I'm threatening (the franchise). If it does come to me having to move on, then that's what I have to do, but I haven't made that decision yet. The fact remains, I would like to win a championship in Portland. People had never heard that tone from me like they did this summer. So people took that as an opportunity to say 'you should go to that team' or 'Dame will ask for a trade soon.' And the media used that as clickbait to run with the story."
"To me, if that time (to move) does come, it will because I decide it. Not because people that are egging the situation on made me do it . If I do something and move on, and the grass ain't greener, they don't have to live with the consequences. They don't know my family situation. They don't know what I do."
Haven't listened to this yet...
But I thought Stotts was the problem?
I'm likely being naive but I still think there is a possibility that Olshey is taking this seriously and has a move up his sleeve before training camp starts. I realize that none of Olshey's past behavior should make me think he's capable of or willing to pull off the kind of move that would satisfy Dame but he's never had this kind of motivation. If it's clear that Dame is not going to be traded until the deadline at the soonest and maybe not until next off season then that may make CJ appealing to teams that were holding out for Dame.People saying it's all good because of dames words but then forget we have the dumbest fucking gm who has shown no interest in making this team any more than a "playoff" team to appease the bottom line.
It's not gonna be good until Neil is gone. There is no argument because everyone knows that's true.
Last season (and season before) half of Blazers games were lazy, no effort performances from most players. It was Stotts fault, but it was on Lillard and CJ fault as well as they expected rest of the team play defense for them, while they were playing hero ball with Melo. I don't know how Lillard doesn't see it. And I can forgive Lillard, but obviously CJ horse vision needs to change. They can be great team. Lillard should put some pressure on players and himself, not only blame organization. Jody Allen is not responsible for lack of ball movement and selfishness that destroy chemistry and effect with lazy effort on the court. Team play.

But you know… facts!Put on your GM cap and let's pretend you are Neil. Forgot about what he has done in the past, we are talking the current roster and the current state of the team.
If you do want to trade CJ and upgrade the team but aren't getting back equal value, what do you do? You don't make a bad trade that's for sure, we are trying to improve. And if the reports from a month ago was correct, that teams were only offering draft picks in return for CJ we are stuck at the point. I don't want to trade for Simmons, but it seems like the reports there is that Morey doesn't want to trade for CJ and wants to wait for Dame to become available. Sikam seems like he is staying with the Raptors.
So what do you if you were him? And once again don't go back and say Neil put us in this situation with the large contracts for Dame and CJ, I want to know what do you do right now in this moment if you are Neil and there is no equal value back in trading CJ?
To me it's one of two, run it back and hope Billups can light a spark under these guys like Stotts never did or you just blow it up. Blowing it up is unlikely when you have a superstar like Dame.
If we're forgetting what he has done in the past, then we're not pretending we're Neil; we're pretending we're some idealized version of Neil that runs the team the way we would like him to as opposed to the way he actually does.Put on your GM cap and let's pretend you are Neil. Neil did exactly what forum members screamed about for years here and fired Stotts....he let Melo and Kanter go....these are moves people on this forum wanted...so in fact he does things people have clamored for ..he defended Chauncey's rep when he hired him...seems to me Neil has been doing what a lot of people wanted other than convincing Allstars to come here and play with Dame...that's just being a small market....the only thing I want to see improve is our defense and ball movement...from what I've heard the Blazers are addressing this as a major priorityIf we're forgetting what he has done in the past, then we're not pretending we're Neil; we're pretending we're some idealized version of Neil that runs the team the way we would like him to as opposed to the way he actually does.

Haha what, you are not even making sense. If your gonna bitch about the past ok, but if your gonna bitch about what we haven’t done this summer, then go back to the questions I ask. Why don’t you answer those questions smarty pants? Or anyone else that thinks they know how to run a franchise sitting on their couchIf we're forgetting what he has done in the past, then we're not pretending we're Neil; we're pretending we're some idealized version of Neil that runs the team the way we would like him to as opposed to the way he actually does.
I'm not interested in answering questions based on assumptions.Haha what, you are not even making sense. Thinking Neil isn’t doing anything this summer when you have no idea what the talks are being the scene or what trades he has or hasn’t tried to make, is making assumptions. Actually you just made yourself look silly.I'm not interested in answering questions based on assumptions.
Thank you for asking.
Would you like to point to a post where I indicated that Neil isn't doing anything this summer?Thinking Neil isn’t doing anything this summer when you have no idea what the talks are being the scene or what trades he has or hasn’t tried to make, is making assumptions. lol I have said that plenty. Until today, Cody Zeller was our biggest move. Why wouldn't I have criticized Neil for sleep walking through the biggest offseason of his tenure? And the weekly jabs from Dame and the growing noise from Philly has made this summer toxic as a Blazer fan.Would you like to point to a post where I indicated that Neil isn't doing anything this summer?
I'm so glad we got Nance and not a bought out KLove...
Dude? He’ll be 33-34 at that point so at that point he can leave
