Should have sold high on him when they had the chance.

Rumor on Twitter is D’Angelo got into some kind of postgame altercation with zibamejad! That will do it

Rumor now it was an actual fight. Would explain the sudden jettisoning him on waivers.

I’m sure more on it will come out as the day goes on as to what actually happenned

I said to deal him in the off-season but all the boards were like no. Lundkvist isn't proven. Major fuck up by JD and Gorton. I hope it wasn't a racist thing with Miller. That would pretty much end his career. When you drafted Schneider and had Lundkvist, they absolutely should have traded him in the off-season. Guess we will see Schneider up here for sure now. Of course with retard Quinn he will put Smith on the right and shitty Johnson on the left.

Still don't believe he didn't have good value before whatever he just did. If he got in a fight with Zibanejad, forget it. He's fucked.

Yeah, definitely a worst case scenario for the Rangers. Should he get claimed off waivers what are the cap implications?

*Edit* OK, not WORST case but, a bad situation for them.

I saw something that apparently he was giving Georgiev a hard time about the OT goal and something happened with Kreider.

Shame. This guys attitude always comes up to bite him. He has a lot of talent, but it doesn't matter when you have a bad attitude and cannot be a good teammate.

As for an offseason trade, everything you saw was they tried to deal DeAngelo and Strome, but the value wasn't there. I have faith in Gorton/JD, so I'll believe that was the case.

If he gets claimed and his whole cap hit goes with him, not the end of the world. So let's see how it plays out.

Maybe this will serve as a bit of a wake up call for him but most likely not.

1:45 p.m.: The Athletic’s Rick Carpiniello (subscription required) reports that an incident between DeAngelo and Rangers’ goaltender Alexandar Georgiev that occurred immediately after the team’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Penguins Saturday is the cause for DeAngelo being placed on waivers.

The scribe reports that three sources confirmed that the two players got into it in the tunnel on the way to the Rangers’ locker room. The altercation was quickly broken up and Georgiev was given a maintenance day Sunday due to the incident. The Rangers neither confirmed or denied the altercation.

1:00 p.m.: The Associated Press’ Steven Whyno talked to Rangers’ coach David Quinn after the move to put DeAngelo on waivers:

Arrivederci Tony! The Rangers just got better but he was a terrible resign. Tiny Tony has a lot of nerve popping off after he failed to clear the puck before Crosby scored. This season just keeps getting better.

Sounds like it was sparked by the miscommunication between the two that happened right before the winning goal. Can't have that, so something needed to be done. Good for the Rangers to act quickly. What I am curious of is what they do if he's unclaimed. I'd guess send him to the AHL?

I definately think this will make them look even more at a Dunn trade, but i want to see more of Hajek/Reunanen also. Don't see Lundkvist being rushed over during this odd season, and Schneider isn't near ready.

You have no idea if Schneider is near ready. You've never seen him play one practice or anything to do with the team. I didn't think Miller was going to be ready for 1 1/2 years.

I think Schneider would be better that what we have now(who wouldn’t be). And if not he gets his seasoning. Part 2 of the D’Angelo altercation rumor is Kreids stepped in and punched D’Angelo in the face. If true, make Kreids the captain immediately and the FIRE THAT IDIOT QUIN !

DeAngelo has always been a bit of a mental case but this is a sign of a coach losing the team. Schneider like Lafreniere is really mature. I'd like to see him get his chance now.

Either way, he has no value after this incident. So, what Porter and I were arguing about will never be known. JD and Gorton fucked up by not dealing him in the off-season. DeAngelo fucked up his career by not having an IQ over 70. What a waste of talent. i still blame the Rangers for not moving him to wing. I think it would have done wonders for him.

Schneider was just drafted and isn't even getting much junior or AHL time this year to add to his development. Maybe he's ready by age 20 or so but he needs a year before jumping straight to the NHL. Rarely do you see a newly drafted dman do that. Miller was drafted at the same spot and needed 2y at Wisconsin, and Lundkvist needed 2y in the SHL. What's the real point of bringing him up in this 56g/no fan environment when the team isn't likely making the playoffs?

Wait - what a shocker, we are now blaming the coach for DeAngelo. Who saw that coming. Yes, it is clearly on Quinn, and a sign that he lost the team. A guy who was a 1st round pick, been traded twice already and now placed on waivers, has had issues everywhere he has been, been suspended and scratched in his past. Oh by the way, also had a very good season under that same coach last season, let's not allow that fact to get in the way. Bottom line is despite all of that, clearly it's a sign about Quinn. Once again very pathetic.

As for the a deal, hindsight they should have taken anything, but if you believe in Gorton/JD you have to think the offers of any real value weren't there otherwise DeAngelo would have been dealt.

Yeah, Chuck, the coach does get some blame. Coach is ultimately responsible, and if there are issues inside the locker room it is partially on him, just like at any other job the responsibility falls on the lead. Torts managed Sean Avery who was one of the biggest nutcases ever to play the game. Torts hated Avery but he played him every game because he was effective. Nothing like this happened during Torts tenure with Avery, because Avery knew he would be kicked out if something did and that was Torts' locker room.

Not much Quinn could do in prep for something like this to happen. Was he supposed to scratch DA because of the history he has? Why even have him on the roster anymore then, which Gorton and JD were obviously ok with going into the season. All you can do is move forward. I wouldn't be surprised if he's playing again in a few weeks.

You Quinn hating soccer moms are pathetic, these are world class hockey players you're blubbering over. Did any of you Tony lovers know he had been giving K'Andre a hard time? Yes it was Quinn who made Tony such a prick. With the choices available to him the fact that Quinn had Tony sitting to start the season speaks volumes about his great coaching. Everything written in the papers last year had Tony being traded but it didn't happen - guess we'll never know why. The "C" worthy. CK chose to punch Tony in the face instead of just grabbing him, again speaks volumes. The team is better without him.

Schneider played 6 JWC games 1G/2A 25 PIM) and begins his Hartford career this week so we'll see what happens but I still think he'll be up sooner than later. I would love to see the rotation of young dmen others have suggested and send Smith/Johnson down.

The Avery comparison is horrible - Torts hated him, played him sparingly until the crowd forced his hand and had him traded away only to see Glen sign him back. Torts was again was forced to play Avery because of the noticeable difference in team play when Sean was on the ice.. I will say he paid for his antics, officials swallowed their whistle when Sean got boarded/slashed/tripped.

I'm still baffled by the negativity. The Rangers announce they are tearing it down and rebuilding two years ago and here we are with multiple 1st rounders all playing together some progressing a little slower than others but still playing. The game by game microanalysis of minutes played is silly, there are too many factors playing into individual games. All we should be looking for this year is improvement.

Agree completely panzer. As I wrote in one of my prior posts, no one could have imagined we'd be here 3 years after the letter was sent in Feb of 2018. What were these fans expecting. We overachieved last season. Are off to a slow start this season, as the youngest team in the NHL, with no pre-season, and losing more leadership in Fast, Hank, Staal. If people were expecting this big time team this season, shame on them. Now we are worse than we thought, but it is 8 games and as mentioned this is not an ordinary season for many reasons. Settle down people.

At this point I'd guess unconditionally waive him, and we take a big cap hit I would guess into next season as well. Not ideal. Unless we can trade him and maybe only retain a %.
