The official signing of Jared Jeffries yesterday could open the way for the Knicks' next move.</div>

Don't know if I'd like this if I were a Knicks fan. While you did get rid of Qs bloated contract....you bring Darius' in the process...one that's just about as big if I'm right. Beyond his contract, you bring in his attitude, and we all know how great that is. Essentially, while I realize that the Knicks want to move QRich, I don't know if they should do this, cause in the end, you're bringing in a cancer that, like Q, doesn't play defense, and the only difference between the two is that Q has somewhat of a jumpshot, while DMiles really doesn't and ends up relying on his athleticism to get to the hoop and score. Essentially, it all ends up being a pick your poison deal in the end.

Don't really like this trade and I doubt that Portland would do this trade single Player only, Im pretty sure they would like to involve more players in the deal, maybe some expiring contracts.I would Keep Quentin cause we already have to many SF and now that we have sign Jefrries I doubt that would be minutes for Miles and I believe that will pised him off and it will be an attitud problem over this season with Miles because of that.

I dont get it. Wasn't signing Jared Jeffries close the possibility of getting Darius Miles? Either way, I don't think they should do this. Quentin had a dissapointing season and didn't show much promise for the future, but I think bringing in Darius would add more problems to the team.

^^^ i agree with everything you said.
i dont understand it, why would they need miles when theyre getting jeffries. miles will just cause more problems by complaining bout playing time when he doesnt get any.

I'm actually not a fan of Darius Miles, but would welcome this trade. Miles is a good defender... better than Richardson. He really stepped it up before his injury. Wasn't he putting up something like 18.8/5.7/2.5 along with 1.6 blocks. 3.7 turnovers though (yuck). Still, with both of them having nearly identical contracts, what do we have to lose? At the very least he'll be much better than what Q was for us last season. The attitude issues are a concern, but I think Isiah can handle him. It's definitely risky (very risky), but what risk isn't worth taking when you're 23-59?

I think that there is already plenty of drama in New York and Darius Miles will only add to this drama. He is a team cancer and that is not what New York needs right now. Sure he may help on the court but New York doesn't need another selfish player with a bad attitude.

Me as a Blazer fan i would like this trade alot.

But Mr.Thomas better make the right moves or hes done, and IMO this is a bad Move. He bringing along the same type of players.

I personally think Darius would be a better fit than Richardson.

Just what the Knicks need. Another headache to go along with Marbury and Francis. Miles is prob. gonna end up dead snorting coke or something. Q-Rich is good why the hell would this happen???

Dead serious. horrible trade for the knicks

When you're 23-59, any risk is worth taking. While Dairus Miles is considered a head case, his production on the court would be much better than what Richardson will give us. Marbury isn't as big a head case as everyone depicts him as either. And "snorting coke" is just something dumb to say.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Q-Rich is good why the hell would this happen???</div>
Q-Rich with the Knicks:
8.2 points, 35.5% FG / 34% 3P / 67% FT/ 8.3 Attempts per game
Bottomline: Last year, Richardson played absolutely horrible. We would be pretty lucky to get that much value for him. To top it all off, he has something like 4 years left on an expensive contract and no insurance for a bad back.

Darius Miles doesn't bring any game with him besides lawsuits and being arrested. The man is overpaid and has a big contract. Of course the Knicks would want him because of that. Richardson wasn't given enough minutes because Isiah Thomas likes to sign a bunch of SG/SFs to his team that demand to play minutes.

QRich, mind you, is HIGHLY overpaid as well, probably an overall worse contract for him since what you're getting is less than what Miles will give you. While I'm not a huge fan of either of them, Miles is the superior player. The only thing Q has been good for since leaving LAC is jacking up threes, playing no defense, and in general, not playing all that good of basketball. The only reason he succeeded with Phoenix is because of the system he was in. It allowed him to get open looks at the three and jack them up at will. Didn't happen last year and New York, won't happen this year either. The team doesn't really need him, and unless he changes his act, I don't foresee a large amount of minutes for him either.

Really? I missed the part in Miles' life where he's had a lawsuit against him or got arrested.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CLos:</div><div class="quote_post">The man is overpaid and has a big contract.</div>
Which Knick not on their rookie contract isn't overpaid?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Q-Rich is good why the hell would this happen???</div>
Miles' 05-06 Season: Career Season
Richardson's 05-06 Season: Worst Season.

Hmm..

Richardson was given 26 minutes per game last season and should have gotten less. The only reason why his minutes have declined since he became a Knick is because of his lack of production. When you're pretty much not contributing anything you have to expect the coach to take you out. Is Isiah to blame for Richardson shooting 35% from the field? And how can you accuse Miles of being overpaid and neglect Richardson's contract which isn't even insured? Their contracts are nearly identical too.

It doesn't matter to me. If the Knicks want another headache on their roster to compete with Nate Robinson, Steve Francis, and Marbury then so be it. Darius Miles won't change the Knicks misfortunes just ruin them.

Darius Miles has a lot of talent and could actually help out a lot. The only problem with him is the baggage he comes with. No matter how much talent the kid has, he's still got all sorts of on and off the court issues and he's usually a pain for most coaches to handle. If he could ever get his head on straight, he could be a good player and could help a team out a lot with his prescence. And with the Knicks, anything is better than QRich.

Richardson for Miles straight up? I wouldnt mind that. Their both overpaid and their contracts are the same length so salary cap wise there isnt a difference between them. Darius Miles if he ever got his head right would be a much better fit than Richardson. But it's pretty obvious that Miles is a head case and always will be an apathetic bum that wastes away his talent. In my opinion he'll just add to the many chemistry problems the Knicks already have. However considering how poorly this team performed last season and how poorly Richardson himself played then I guess trading Richardson for Miles couldnt hurt.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

Miles has always been called lazy and uncoordinated as hell. Richardson isn't bad he just plays for a bad team with too many guards/forwards. Darius Miles has always been a headache and going along with the other headaches on the Knicks, it isn't worth it.

You can't blame that on his teammates. Anytime a player does bad, it's not because of their teammates, cause they're not the ones shooting the ball for him, he is. He's the one shooting, he's the one missing, it's his fault, not the teams. No one ever told him to take those shots, he chose to. And with Miles, he's not unocoordinated, cause otherwise he wouldn't be playing basketball. He is lazy, his work ethic has always been questioned, but what makes you think that Qs hasn't? Q is just as bad, if not worse, than Miles, the only thing that he doesn't have is the offcourt rep. He's on a bloated contract, as is Miles, but at least Miles was filling the statline before getting hurt last year, Q never did much of anyothing last year.

Sure, his teammates didn't shoot the ball, he did. Darius Miles simply CAN'T shoot. The guy has been inconsistent his whole career. The guy is a ballhog, has a lot of on and off the court issues, and Q-Rich has a good jumper.

D.Miles is one hell of a player. He's grown up alot & last season was his best yet. I'm sure he will get traded, to where, who knows. NY would be nice, they could use him. NY NEEDS to get rid of Q. Ever since PO's with the Suns, he's been a bum. But I know he's been thru alot as of late, and that can't be an easy thing to get thru. Can't wait to see what happens with both these players.

So what if Darius Miles had a career year last year. The Knicks shouldn't have to get another player with issues. They need to have positive players on and off the court. Q-Rich is a good player just had a bad year with so many different rotations that the Knicks used last season.

Q had a lot to deal with off the court last season. I know his brother was murdered at his house and someone else close to him also passed away. Plus Q had to deal with nagging injuries all season long.

It would be ironic if these two were traded for one another. They had a close friendship when they both played for the Clippers. I think the trade benefits both teams and they each need a change of scenery. Q's game is better suited for the Western Conference and the Blazers need some veterans on the squad.

DMiles has a shorter contract and can be a more versatile player for the Knicks. He gets most of his points playing off the ball, and can play solid defense when he wants. Isiah could be successful if this squad plays with a chip on their shoulders. He has a group of talented, overpaid underachievers who have a lot to prove.

All it takes is players buying into a system and focusing on a common goal. The $100Million dollar question is whether or not Isiah can sell this team he built on his system.

The Championship Pistons roster was a collection of unwanted talent. Joe Dumars, Rick Carlisle, and finally Larry Brown were able to motivate this team by having them play the role of the underdog.

Watching the Knicks next season will be one of the interesting stories of the NBA.

That means Miles knows his limitations. If Miles CAN'T shoot and has a career field goal percentage of 47%, that means the shots he take tend to be of quality. Richardson has always been a chucker throughout his career. With the Clippers he was more versatile with his scoring, but since he's been in New York he's been jacking up three-pointers for the most part. I am fully aware of Q's off-court trouble and I feel for him, but he has been struggling before his brother's murder and his injury.

And if the other players on the Knicks are selfish then Q can be considered selfish too. Chucking the ball instead of finding an open teammate is a selfish thing to do. Last year the Knicks got nothing out of Richardson. A few good defensive performances here and there, but overall they got nothing from him. Plus, do they really need him? He's a low percentage shooter that plays average defense. Miles is a solid defender who can thrive in transition - a direction we're looking to head into this year. Prior to his injury, Miles was averaging something along the lines of 18/7. I would go for that any day over Q's 8 points on a horrible field goal percentage.

I don't even need to whip out the eFG%...

I would trade Q-Rich for Darius, Q just isn't giving NY anything above average. His last year's offensive production and defense, makes him a burden rather than a wanted player.

Miles if it works out, gives a talented athletic player at the 3. If he doesn't work out, he has a shorter contract than Q, and has more value than Q and could be packaged somewhere else.

Nobody wants Darius Miles with his contract. His contract is too big and no team wants his off the court issues. Q-Rich is better than Miles it's just that the Knicks don't know how to play their players and make them look worse than good. Miles is coming off a career season, however, that's his frist year he has actually done anything and Richardson has put up solid numbers besides here in New York. If he would get solid minutes, he could produce more. The Knicks don't run a good offensive system where it's just let Stephon Marbury avg. 20pts and that's about it.

Oops I wasa actually wrong about Darius Miles contract being shorter.
His goes from 7.8 mill in 2006/07 to 9 mill in 2009/10.

Q-Rich goes from 7 mill in 2006/07 to 8.8 mill in 2008/09 and has a player option for 9.3 mill in 2009/10 which he most likely will use if he is not playing well and feels he cannot get better value on the market.

So Q-Rich and Darius both have contracts that extend for 4 years, Q-Rich can opt out after 3, but probably won't.

Darius' last 3 years are pretty good production wise. Between 10.9 - 14 ppg on about 47% FG, 4.6 rpg, 2 apg, about 1 bpg, 1 spg.

Q averaged 26 mpg, and put up 8.2 ppg on 35.5% FG%.

Its possible Q-Rich will improve, he had offcourt problems, as well as a back injury I believe.
