No sign of Marc Gasol or Ty Lawson, NOVoodoo.

Not a single player from the teams with the 4th and 5th best record in the NBA? ...on any of the All-NBA the teams?

Don't think it'll be that way when the actual teams come out, but hey, he's entitled to his own opinion until then.

That isn't really uncommon....

Last year Memphis was 4th in the West and no Memphis players made it.

Chicago was 1st in the East and had no one representing any of the All NBA teams. Neither did Indy who was 3rd or Atlanta who was 5th.

Kevin Love made 2nd team and Minny finished the year 26-40.

I get that, but this year, it'd be hard to keep Marc Gasol off the first or second team, much less the third. I think Duncan deserves the first team over Marc personally (although a lot of the writers at ESPN actually think Marc should be on the first), but Brook Lopez over Gasol is just a joke.

I'd almost say with Gasol, you have to look past the numbers, and just watch his impact on the floor, but that's not even the whole case. You just have to look at the numbers from a different perspective (not just on PPG/RPG). A lot of guys in the league play for the 20/10, whereas Marc's numbers show that he does everything on the floor. 4 apg with 85% FT is ridiculous for a seven footer that's one of the favorites for defensive player of the year, and his 49% FG is one of the best if you consider that he actually scores more than half of his buckets away from the rim. Not to mention, he's been in-and-out of the top 10 for FT% and blocks all year. How many players have been able to say that? I mean, Dwight's 49% FT is the reason that the Lakers have lost a lot of games this year, whereas Gasol's 85% is the reason the Grizz have won a lot. On nights when he needs to lead the team in scoring, he'll do it, but he doesn't try to force the matter in a way that disrupts the flow of the game like a lot of players do (like Rudy Gay, who has a much higher ppg, but was essentially addition by subtraction on this squad).

As for his defense, I think one of the 5-on-5 writers summed it up best with this quote -

"Gasol. The true quarterback of one of the league's stoutest units, Gasol gets my vote because he so thoroughly commands every aspect of defense. He's great as a post defender, his rotations are immaculate and he understands how to control space with his size."

I've never really been a homer for Grizz players, but from all of the players I've seen go through this program since they came here in '01, I think that Marc's by far and away been the most important player to ever play for the franchise, especially in this season. If you take Gasol off of this team, they're a lower seed playoff team in the West. Personally, I'd have him 2nd team All-NBA, 1st team All-Defense, and an honorable mention for D-POY (because it'd be a shame if Allen didn't finally win the award he's deserved for three straight years).

I'd put Gasol on first team all nba over duncan because of the 500m difference between the two.
Gasol is a lot like LA if you think about it. Great players easily top 5 at there positions but underrated by the media due to neither having a flashy type of game and playing in small/medium markets.
I'd have LA on all NBA third team but it is a homer pick, Horford or Smith will get it over LA.

Aldridge is just pushing for his cousin Aldridge.

The winning thing doesn't usually matter for all NBA. It does for All star.

Gasol plays more than Duncan and is in the discussion for DPOY. I could see him being in the discussion for 1st-team frontcourt players.

I believe they are not related. I heard them joking about it during an interview once, but I'm pretty sure they were just joking.

They're definitely cousins, but they might be only second cousins.

Three centers better than Marc Gasol:

Dwight Howard
Tyson Chandler
Joakim Noah

The coaches in the NBA know NBA players better than anyone and they didn't even put Marc Gasol as a reserve on the All Star team. Only way Gasol maybe makes it is because Tyson has been hurt.

The plus-minus data thinks very highly of Gasol, I think he might have had the second best raw differential in the game.

If I could snap my fingers and have the Blazers obtain any non-rookie contract Center in the NBA just with cap space (no assets out in a trade), but we had to accept their current salary, or in Dwight's case, his expected $20mil+ per year salary, I would take Marc Gasol over anyone.

He has the best blend of: reasonable contract, age; injury history; balance of offensive and defensive game.

He is a better player than Noah and has been more durable and a better teammate and locker room guy.

He is a more reasonable salary than Dwight, a more versatile offensive player, and not a prima-donna and doesn't mope when the offense doesn't run through him for large stretches.

He is a much better offensive player than Chandler and more durable.

Yes yes yes yes yes.

Well if LMA's final game stats stick with any of the voters it could go a long way towards making the 3rd team
