I was a backer on a Kickstarter project they've been working on for over a year and it came out today. There were about 11,000 of us who put up about $600,000 so they could do this without any studio/record label input and it sounds amazing! Well worth the investment, I think this album is going to be a classic.

De La Soul is the real shit. Can't wait to listen to this.

Got it last night.....will definitely check t out on the flight home tomorrow morning. One of my favorite groups since 88!

I told them to stay out of the ocean

That would be a big get. Good luck. I could probably hook you upv with a friend of mine from the Pharcyde if you are interested.

I don't know how I missed this thread originally (I think I was on the road). De la Soul? Pharcyde? Love both groups, but Pharcyde is in my top-5 groups of all-time. Love me some Pharcyde.

Damned straight. I'm friends with Tre Hardson from Pharcyde. One of the nicest guys you could meet. I had him come in and DJ when I used to work at Dot's Cafe.

DE LA SOUL IS HIP HOP FOR WHITE PEOPLE AND LIGHT SKINNED BLACK PEOPLE

Wrong. So very very wrong.

Here is a vid of De La back in the day. Fun to watch. This was when rap was just starting and kids were taking in directions yet unknown.

Then when you mix in Public Enemy's first couple of albums...

Mind fucking blowing.

Even as you read this, white people are telling other white people about the golden age of Hip Hop that they experienced in a suburban high school or through a viewing of The Wackness.

If you are good at concealing laughter and contempt, you should ask a white person about “Real Hip Hop.” They will quickly tell you about how they don’t listen to “Commercial Hip Hop” (aka music that black people actually enjoy), and that they much prefer “Classic Hip Hop.”

“I don’t listen to that commercial stuff. I’m more into the Real Hip Hop, you know? KRS One, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, De La Soul, Wu Tang, you know, The Old School.”

Calling this style of music ‘old school’ is considered an especially apt name since the majority of people who listen to it did so while attending old schools such as Dartmouth, Bard, and Williams College.

But I did listen to them in college, lol.

Wore about a couple of copies of Paul's Boutique also. That was the shit when it first came out. Changed the entire record industry because of all the sampling.

Fucking loved Jane's Addiction. Saw them in concert at University of Portland. I wonder why they don't do concerts there anymore?
