Making this up?? It doesn’t take a genius to realize if they trade Nurk they plan on Collins being the COTF, what else would it mean? You think they are gonna trade their 23 year old starting center to find Collins a back up at PF? Lol, Man some of you need to open your eyes.

Not if that trade is for another center. It could make it even more obvious that Collins is the PFOTF (which he should be).

The biggest issue I have is that Nurk is an offensive threat, and Jordan is not. With Nurk, we can play Collins away from the basket. He can spread the floor. Nurk can pass the ball. I'm just not sold on Jordan, unless Nurk is part of a trade that brings back a very good player.

If this was the trade, with a separate trade for Avery Bradley (because he can't be combined with other players), I think I could go for it.

We would end up with a lineup of

Dame/Bazz
Bradley/Turner
Middleton/Aminu
Parker/Collins
Jordan/Henson

Why would you trade a 23 year old center for a 29 year old center(the only center we have been rumored to be interested in) who has 1 year with a player option for a second year and that’s it cause even if he picked up his option and became a fa at 30 we are not going to invest in a 30 year old at 20+ mil per, which is what he’s gonna ask for. The only reason would be the blazers are confident in Zach as a center. Jordan is basically a perfect stop gap till Zach is ready to start(at any position). I don’t want Jordan or Nurk but you don’t give up a 23 year old starting center for one with 2 more productive years if you don’t have someone coming down the pipeline. It’s not like Jordan makes us a contender or anything.

That team, if they could stay healthy, would win a ton of games. A very unlikely trade possibility but these are the types of deals I would look to make. The team is is too far off to just be looking to add another mediocre piece or two. We should be looking to do something big.

My problem with Jordan is he's played with allstar talent and never won shit....Nurk outplayed him on the road last Clippers game....6 years younger...Jordan makes Dame money.....he can't shoot anywhere outside 2 ft from the rim...and he's a terrible actor

thats another good point, he played with CP3 and Griffin and they were never a contender
why would it be different at POR... at this point, are Dame & CJ & DJ better than CP3 & Griffin & DJ

if you ask me, only thing DeAndre has over Nurk is his reputation around the league, bigger name... when you say Dame & CJ & DJ, it sure sound better than Dame & CJ & Nurk, but its exactly that why people would do this deal... in theory its better, in practice, its not

PEOPLE DONT LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE !!!!!!!!

The problem with the Clippers was health issues.

Griffin missed a ton of games.
Paul had a few seasons where he missed a ton of games.
Jordan has been consistently healthy.

I don't think it was Jordan's fault that they never lived up to their potential.

The bigger picture is that Dame and CJ are in their window now... they can’t wait 3 years for Nurk to be consistent

Yuk! Complete Gahbidge

and theyd still lose in the 1st round, just like with Nurk or you dont agree with me

trading talented 23 yo for soon to be 30 y0 for the same outcome, ouch... it would be the same, except less future for the POR

If anything Jordan has maybe been the most reliable clipper of all time. Dude has been there his whole career and developed into the premier defensive big in the NBA, very similar to Tyson Chandler but more athletic.

He’s not that good defensively. At least not recently.

Adding DJ + Williams doesn't put Portland in the top 3 out west.
They're still a middle of the pack team who could win or lose to anyone on any given night.
Trading for these two would be making a move, just to make a move. It wouldn't lead Portland past the second round or even give them a better chance at getting there.

Not to mention there already waiting on Collins.
"They can't wait", I disagree. If the team is getting better each year, and that progresses towards a finals appearance in 3 years, then they are on the right path. I'm cool with a tweak here or there, but getting DJ if it cost dealing Nurk, is foolhearty IMO. Add a new piece to the core if possible, but leave the Big 3 alone.

Does getting DeAndre and Williams make us a true contender... who knows. But I feel it’s ignorance to act like you know for a fact it won’t. I feel like I’ve been hearing the line “don’t make a move just to make a move” for 5 years now. At some point you have to go for it and take that chance.

He's got a cool name, killer hair and can dunk garage thrown at the rim.

He can possibly be the same player for a few more years and then he's going to go downhill. He's the boat.

Nurk is the real mystery box, he can be anything in three years. This time you keep the mystery box.

Getting DeAndre Jordan would be the definition of making a move just to make a move.

Neil’s way of conning the fans and maybe his players as well. Hey look guys! Got you a Star!!

agree. It's all there behind door #27. I don't see it ending up as the donkey.

Funny post.

If prime CP3, a top 3 PF in the league with a ton of upside, prime DJ, and a bunch of vets joining for the min don't get you past the second round.
Then there is zero chance Lillard, CJ, a declining DJ and Portland's role players get you past the second round.

I also don’t understand this take of “we can’t wait for Nurkic to develop, we have to win now while Dame and CJ are in their prime!”

What the fuck? First off we’re never getting past the warriors (definitely not with Jordan either) and once Dame’s (don’t care about CJ) window closes, wouldn’t we need other players to build around? Why would you give up on a talent like Nurkic who could be a future building block?

If any fan ran this team we would never make a trade to go all in. They would be to busy saying we can't beat this team , we can't beat that team. Keep the team young and develop.

Like there's a choice though? When players tell their agents they want to play here.....then you become San Antonio...we have 3/5s of a starting core and a couple decent bench players....guys like David West didn't take huge paycuts to play here...they went to Golden State..our franchise player bolted for San Antonio....Stotts actually has done a decent job winning games with what he's had to adjust to since he got here...Boston doesn't have this problem...never has really other than a few bad seasons

Bullshit, I just don't trade a 23 year old Center with a ton of upside. Who will be a RFA..
For a nearly 30 year old Center who is clearly declining.

Developing the core is the way to go here. There is no "All IN" available right now that makes a difference, unless LeBron can be acquired, and would agree to an extension. That ain't happening.
