Would love to see Jordan and Dame on the PnR. I think they ar both top 3 in PnR plays. Not sure what you trade. Aminu and ? Can’t see them wanting Turner or Biebs.

ugh. Neil needs to stop with this. We get it, you like that Clipper squad you put together, but Jordan is old, on the decline, and brings skills that our team does not need.

FWIW, a Nurk + ET for Jordan deal works. And that I'd do just to rid myself of the misery that is Evan Turner. But outside of something like that, I have 0 interest in Deandre.
Think my sentiments regarding DeAndre are the same now as they were before the deadline. I'd rather have Nurk either on a small deal or his QO than a 24 mil expiring in DJ. Only way I'd be ok with that is if we shed ET in the process.

We’d have to match salaries. Dallas wouldn’t.

Why would DAL want him? I know they are keeping Dirk around for his retirement tour, but aren't they rebuilding? Are they hoping DeAndre will get them from 24 wins to 26?

I don't think they want a long rebuild. I imagine they think a lineup of DSJ, Matthews, Doncic, Barnes, Jordan is at least competitive. That's much better than a 26 win team, IMO.

I agree. With Doncic being a productive player in the ACB and Euroleague - this is a playoffs contender.

Really? It took 47 wins to make the playoffs in the West last year, and it's not looking like it's about to get easier anytime soon.

Matthews and Dirk will both be a year older. Their decline could be offset by improved play of Smith Jr. and perhaps the addition of Doncic, but I don't see that lineup + DeAndre Jordan winning nearly twice as many games as they did last year - not in the West.

in 2016 the 8th seed had 41 wins and in 2017 the 8th seed had 41 wins. With the bottom half of the conference getting better - it is very unlikely that we will get the same kind of top-heavy conference next year as we just experienced.

The Mavericks biggest issues last year were play-making (rookie PG, no other real play makers on the roster) and sub-par center play - this roster improves both of these issues immensely - so, yes, I believe that an improved DSJ with the help of Doncic as well as a proper Center can put them into the low-40s and into playoffs contention.

Because it’s Mark Cuban. He’ll avoid rebuilding at all costs.

Cuban would want Deandre on the team because it would mean Dirk taking a lot fewer hits during the game. A lot less wear and tear. Next season the only reason to show up to a Mavs game is to see Dirk one last time. It's the Dirk goodbye tour. If there is no Dirk then why would you even care about that team? Deandre means there is a greater chance for Dirk to finish the season. Dirk finishing the season means more asses in the seats, more tickets sold.

The conference wasn't top heavy, it was middle heavy, with 7 teams winning between 46 and 49 games. And that doesn't include 42-win LAC who missed the playoffs by 5 games.

The Mavs would need to pass a lot of teams to claw their way up to the 8th seed. I don't see them improving that much more than all the teams that finished ahead of them and didn't make the playoffs. They may pass SAC and maybe the Clippers if they completely blow it up, but I don't see them passing LAL and DEN.

Best case, if they got DeAndre Jordan and their young players contribute, the could possibly finish in 10th.

It's all speculation but I don't think Jordan would be that much of a difference maker for them.

Dallas has gone on record as wanting to make the playoffs this year. Their wet dream is something
like: Houston clears cap to get LBJ, Dallas swoops in on a 24 year old Clint Capela, LBJ returns
to Cleveland. Houston sucks and Dallas gets a young nucleus of Doncic, Capela, and Dennis Smith
(and Harnes, I suppose). Their wet dream is actually possible. If they can't get Capela, then they'll
try for Boogie and hope he gets healthy. Jordan would be a 3rd or 4th option, but what they really
want is Capela, and they are willing to spend.

Capela and Cousins would both help them more than DeAndre.

Who knows. Cousins could be a shell of his former self and we have no idea what Capela will be like without elite passers (and even with Doncic and an improved DSJ, we do not expect the Mavs to have the play makers and passers that the Rockets have).

Capela's biggest advantage at this point is his younger age and some mobility on the perimeter - but even tho Jordan had less usage% next to much worst play-makers last year - their output was very close.

I am far from a Jordan fan - but he is a useful center even in today's NBA. I would suspect that having a better coach than what he endured in LAC will also help.

Nurk outplayed Jordan more than once in a Blazer uniform...I don't see the upgrade but I do see the missed free throws and the age difference

Overall, I think you are correct. The only thing I would love to see is Jordan running the PnR with Dame. Nurkic doesn't finish strong enough when he rolls. Jordan would be good for ten dunks a game, playing with Dame. But, the FT thing is a problem and I don't recall that Jordan can guard at the perimeter any better than Nurkic can.

What you really get with Jordan is rebounding...but I've seen Nurk get 18 boards in a game

But next game he will get six. Rarely does Jordan get less than 10. I would choose Nurkic over Jordan because he is more versatile. But, Jordan would be fun to watch.

Jordan would be a better backup C than Zeller, and probably a better backup C for Billups than Freedom

washed up. Not mobile enough for todays game. Rather have a young project for billups to develop.
Unless you are talking about helping the tank… then sure!

The Lakers don't even want to play the guy
