salary will go way up in the next couple of years. I'd probably sign them all.

LOL. The Blazers aren't giving up on Meyers or CJ, as some of you would like. And neither would I. I don't know if that means they extend them or wait but it probably means they hedge their bets and extend them for a bargain price. I would. We'll see.
Lack of effort? I couldn't disagree more. He may not do the right thing very well, and usually he's trying to do the wrong thing, but he sure as hell tries hard...Meyers is a joke. He has the ability to shoot the ball and be a spread 5 like others mentioned. But what everyone fails to acknowledge is his lack of effort on the defensive end. He is always late for the rebound, never boxes out and is usually always getting beat.
At least Hawes, Frye and other stretch players can fucking box out!

Did you watch the L*ker game, mags? Admittedly I didn't watch a lot of it, but in a short stretch I saw him hit a 3 in the flow of the offense, force a miss by staying straight up on defense and moving his body well, block a posterizing dunk attempt so that the ball stuck between the rim and the backboard, battle for a rebound and tipping it to a teammate on the third leaping attempt, set a competent screen in transition, and make a quick, sharp, and accurate swing pass that would count as a hockey assist. In that same stretch of time, I only noticed two mistakes, a really REALLY poorly-timed leap at a jump ball (more the ref's fault than his, but just barely), and a late rotation on D because he got caught with his head turned the wrong way.Fuck well that's even more disheartening then! If he's trying hard and sucking this bad, the ship has sunk! I was giving him the benefit of doubt, blaming this on effort.
This only further supports my argument that Leonard is a lost cause

Can you honestly say, without hyperbole, that you can't see any improvement?

Hitting threes does not impress me for our center. I want our center to protect the paint and get rebounds. I guess I'm old school like that.
Leonard will never be a center I support until he rebounds, boxes out and makes a much better effort defensively
Then you never saw Ha play...His BBall IQ is the worst I've ever seen.
Spencer Hawes spent four years being terrible in Sacramento, with tons of PT, before he became a legit NBA player. To suggest that Leonard is definitively a lost cause at this stage of his career is silly.
There's a difference between "he'll never be a player" and "we don't have the time to wait for him" . The former is premature; the latter is reasonable. Then I'm silly. Have him develop somewhere else. At this stage, I would rather have Freeland than Leonard. At least freeland boxes out, rebounds and makes a valiant effort defensively.

Meyers Leonard will lead his team to a Championship title one day.
His prime years are nearly a decade away, only an absolute moron would allow another team a shot at stealing him.
That bears repeating, only an absolute moron would allow another team a shot at stealing him.![]()

No. Another reason to extend him would be to retain him as a trade asset for this coming off-season.The only reason to extend a guy is if you are fairly certain you want to retain him and he'd demand more money.
