Decision Time On Options for CJ, Meyers and T-Rob

Amazingly most NBA GMs actually value guys of Meyer's size athleticism and age... even if they are raw and a reach. Look at Hasheem Thabeet. He was more worthless than Meyers and still getting contracts.

Okay you do have a point there

So Meyers costs us $3mil to keep around one more year as at worst our 3rd string center. If a team ends up relying on a 3rd string anything, that team is going to struggle. It buys us one more year at small price tag to determine if he is in fact a bust. It has been outlined in here numerous times how long it can take young centers to come into their own. We have 2 starters in recent history that took 4 seasons or so. Both had their teams give up on them and we were the beneficiaries. Przybilla and Lopez.

I think we are talking more about the cap hold when the contract is up. I think it's close to $5 mil

His cap hold then won't matter for 2 reasons. #1 we could simply renounce him then. #2 if we are talking a 5mil cap hold we are talking after the 15/16 season. We will have maxed out Aldridge and either re-signed Wes and Robin or signed a max guy plus roster filler the summer of 2015. His cap hold won't mean squat.

Ohh yeah and we will have likely maxed out Lillard with an extension that kicks in that summer as well.

If these guys aren't extended before the season starts, they'll all be like JJ Hickson his contract season here..and JJ played hard for a contract that year. I expect the same from all of them. We retain all their bird rights next offseason and can resign any or all of them. I learned 2 things I didn't know over summer league and preseason. Meyers is vastly improved and a stretch 4..not a center and Allen Crabbe has a future at the 2 guard. CJ we all knew had offensive talent and high IQ...he's just needing to find consistency. There are positives to take from watching the bench players. TRob reminds me a lot of JJ Hickson, except he doesn't foul his own teammates to get rebounds.

I just can't understand people advocating extending Leonard but not T-Rob.
T-Rob is maybe our strongest bench player, he's young and going to be a stud for years. So yes, maybe he's a bit slow to recover from his injury but Leonard is not in the same league as a player. T-Rob is going to be a big time player, Leonard is hardly an NBA player, and people say we should extend Leonard and not T-Rob, why? Because he's 2Mil$ cheaper? I just don't get it.

I'm sure they'll let TRob explore free agency like JJ and make him an offer or decide to spend the money elsewhere

It maybe just me and he could just be getting himself worked back into it but he's taken a step back since last season.

Stotts fucking plays Leonard ahead of him. He gets like 9 minutes. He can't find a rhythm playing 9 minutes. And yes, he's back from injury.
T-Rob was amazing last season and was only getting better. He was our best player in SL until he got injured. It could take him a few games to get back in game shape but T-Rob is a player. He's strong offensively, defensively and on the boards. He's one of the best young PFs in the game.
Get Leonard back to towel-waiving, give T-Rob the backup PF minutes and he's back to being a huge fan-favorite in 2-3 games. This team's ceiling isn't nearly as high without him and I tell you another thing, I think the team's ceiling could be higher with a different coach.

T-Rob is much better than JJ, he's a better defender and more athletic.

For what it's worth Ive seen at least one play in the preseason where T-Rob isn't where he's supposed to be.

I don't know how break up the posts and add other posts like the rest of you so here goes my reply...

Are you always this snippy? Evaluate the coach after the season. TRob after watching him at fan fest and versus the Clippers seems to be a step slow and lacks the explosion he had last season. Running, jumping, going after the ball. It could be conditioning. It could be something else. Meyers is played ahead of him more than likely because he fits what the coach is doing out there. But...If TRob was a notch or two above where he was last year. I doubt he would be played ahead of him.

OK, but he's back from injury and didn't get real minutes even once. The first preseason game, Leonard, Freeland and Wright all played PF ahead of him. That's just stupid.
It could take him a week, even a month but it's not like he forgot how to play and when he's on he's a beast.

Last game, I saw Leonard not where he was supposed to be on many occasions. It's the same tune. He lets his man get to the ball faster than he can almost every time.

Fact is, we have offense down. What we truly need is defense. I don't know how much of Leonard's olay defense much longer

Why would Leonard be played ahead of Leonard if Robinson's better? Because this is preseason, the time to see what Leonard can do. The preseason rotation is not an indicator of the regular season rotation.

What don't you understand about putting multiple quotes into a post?

Breaking up one guy's post, to respond to each part separately, is a bear. There's no easy way, or we'd all do it more often. You just copy and paste the whole post several times, then repeatedly delete all but the portion to which you are responding.

It's so easy, I just decided to do it again.

I just use the code and press return

I don't know how to do it...are you running seminars on how to these things? If you are I'll sign up!

It's actually very simple. When you reply as a quote, you will see this "[" and the word quote with "]". Then when you are finished, just use the same "[", but add "/" then "quote" and then "]".

Try it

The start should look like this without the space [ quote] and at the end, [/quote]

So I just did a practice one and I butchered it. I won't be posting the results.

Thanks for the tips. I'll get it figured out! :)

Just pay attention to the code when you reply with quotes. it will explain everything! The [ ] is what inserts the code. The "/" means end. So the code like "bold" would just be "b". Use that end code in front and put them in those brackets.

Yeah, but to break up a post, you have to have to do it repeatedly, each time deleting the unused part of the other guy's post you're quoting. Maybe I'm just lazy. Your cell phone seems to have some shortcut key that makes it easy.

All three of these guys have been underwhelming, unfortunately.
They won't get many minutes under Stotts anyway, so I'd rather see a consolidation trade, if there's anything worthwhile on the table. Perhaps get a legit contributor off of the bench at the 8th roster spot.
Would free some time for Crabbe too, who I still think has potential.

Practice? We talkin' 'bout practice? :)
