Dude. Warriors, Lakers, Celtics, and Sixers will be most of the TV games and people will watch at record highs. You know a few people who don't like LeBron anymore, lol? Who cares? He just gained millions of fairweather fans in LA. The Warriors/Cavs Finals got record ratings. There are more people in LA than Cleveland. Plus, Boston has near All Star team when healthy. I guarantee ratings will go up. Christmas game will prob be Lakers/Celtics or Lakers/Warriors and it will be the highest rated Christmas game ever.
You realize that those 4 fanbases can't carry ratings right? The NBA has been catering to more casual fans for a while, and now those fans are getting tired of it. You can't use 4 teams to carry a league, you need viewership from other fanbases, which make up a greater portion of the viewer base... That group will dwindle, big time.

Yep

I have driven over 10,000 mile across the country and back. Through so many cities. Haven't been on the forum at all. Arrived in my residence tonight, not sure really what to say..... or where to say it.

I think whT you might be looking for is somehow to post one long fuuuuuuccccckkkkk in every thread In S2.

The nba has now become a video game.

You're just overreacting.

How can I be overreacting? We're now talking about an NBA team that is bordering on becoming the first ever NBA Dream Team. Something we would send to the Olympics for a gold medal. I don't believe that I can possibly be overreacting here. :smiley-tongue:

More like the NBA2k series is a more realistic approach of the NBA and the NBA itself is the joke of a video game.

There are Lakers fans all over the world. They're probably the most popular NBA team in the world, even when they sucked. There are only 5 teams that can play on TNT at 7:30pm ET. That means lots of Warriors and Lakers games. That means high ratings because the fair-weather Lakers fans just came out of the woodwork. Casual fans will watch Lakers to see how they are with LeBron. You and others are getting tired of it and you are the one who refused to watch the NBA Finals this year but the Finals still very good ratings despite and undramatic sweep. LeBron to Lakers is a national story right now on national news right now. If he signed with Portland, it wouldn't have been nearly as big a story. LeBron is joining one of the most popular sports franchises in the world.

lol I was kidding, bud. I said the same exact thing on page 2, I agree with you. But someone is bound to call us out and say were overreacting so I was saying it for them so they no longer need to post it here.

You realize their fans already watched a lot of games? So they got a few LA fans to tune back in and are alienating 10x more viewers... How's that productive?

From SB Nation on LeBron signing:

Winners:

The NBA
Any time James changes teams, that’s good business, and when he leaves for the Los Angeles Lakers of all franchises, that’s MONEY. Jersey sales, ticket prices, fan attention, competitiveness, TV ratings ... everything is going up. The league is richer when the Lakers are good.

Exactly.

You're out of touch dude. As I posted above, when the Lakers are good, NBA ratings are better. There are Lakers fans all over the country. When Lakers (even when they sucked) play at Moda Center, nearly half the arena is wearing Kobe jerseys. You are underestimating how many Lakers fans there are. They aren't alienating 10x more viewers. The haters will turn in because they want to see if their team can beat them. Plus, the casual fans will be happy there is a team that (in their mind) can challenge the Warriors.

I mean BonesJones, you're forgetting how many times TNT puts the Lakers on TV the last few seasons. LeBron will be playing in those games now. Thus, ratings will go UP.

The last time the Lakers were good, you didn't have the best C in the NBA signing for $5M to join a team with 4 other all-stars that had won 3 of the past 4 championships.

Most Lakers fans were tuning in last year to watch the Lonzo "show".

You're underestimating how many non-Lakers/Celtics/Warriors/Sixer fans there are.

Hm, I wonder why, maybe because Laker fans still watched them! The Lakers will have more bandwagon fans that were tuning into the NBA before. LeBron lost a group of supporters that watched him every game. You replace them with Laker fans that viewed a lot of games, and that results in decline. You expect 3 or 4 fanbases to carry the NBA ratings wise during the regular season. That's a bad business model, when you're losing some casual fans as well as fans from the other 26 fanbases. National broadcasts (NBA's cash-cow) will suffer.

I guarantee you ratings will go up. Want to make a bet? $50?

Not as many as will watch now. TV ratings for Lakers games will go WAY up.

Cousins is not the best C in the NBA. Maybe he used to be. But not anymore. If he was, he'd be signing a max contract this summer. Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid are the best centers in the NBA. Cousins signing with Warriors is like when Oden signed with Miami.

3rd best.. whatever the hell you wanna call it. Doesn't take away from the point which you ignored.
