Denver gets Aflallalalalalalo

He replaces Dhantay Jones, who was "done dirty" by the Nuggets. A smart pickup by the Nugs.

Anyone know the starting salaries of CV and Gordon this season?

7M and 11M respectively. They have around 4.5 Million in free capspace now. Not sure Boozer makes any sense for them anymore with CV.

7 and 11 is the average over the deal. Are they escalating contracts, where the first year is less than that is what I am asking. Anybody know?

Yea good luck with that.

No, no Hasoos. You are only thinking of the Blazers. Every other team in the league actually can do damage with their cap money except Portland.

Somehow Detroit will turn that into a player we could have used.

that's a nice pickup...smart player, kind of does a lot of things but none too great.....good for a second unit and stability....wow, affalo and then lawson, good offseason for them

And they got them for nothing other than second round picks.

Portland had to use a second round pick to get rid of one of their players.......LOL and cash.

Why is Afflalo a good acquisition? He's still young-ish, but his PER was below 9 and his defensive rating was 110 last season.

I don't blame Denver for acquiring him so cheaply, but not much indicates he's going to play well for the Nuggets.

Ed O.

His PER was low because he was primarily a defender for them. Not asked to do much on offense.

I don't put a whole lot of stock into DRtgs. team D is a huge factor in that rating.

When did we start talking about Charlotte? What did I miss?

Well you miss a lot about life . . . moving your family out of Oregon and to Texas. :D But to answer you question about this thread:

The Nuggets, who lacked a first-round pick for the fourth straight year, landed Lawson in exchange for a future first-round pick they acquired from Charlotte last year.

So I don't think KP could have done much with his 2nd round picks in this latest draft.

Hey, I love Texas in the fall and spring. 60 more days of sunshine here than Portland. The summers on the other hand suck ass. It is cheaper though, and the food is way better. I also have pro football and baseball here.

I was joking about Texas . . . personally, I have had to relocate twice. I think anywhere you live has it's good points and bad points (of course I've never lived in Detroit or Clevland).

I've only been to Texas once, so who am I to say if it is kid freindly. Kid freindly to me means a place where parents can make a decent living to provide for the kids . . . knowing your personality, you probably didn't take it seriously, but want you to know I was jsut having fun this Monday morning.

Detroit (and any number of other teams) has a worse team than Portland. Therefore they can make and need to make any number of moves to improve their team.

PDX only has a limited amount of moves they can make and need to make to fill holes and improve the 4th best team in the west.

You're the worst kind of reactionary. You want to make a move just to make a move.

Get in the life boat lady. We'll stay here while the captain fixes the leak.

I don't take much of anything seriously on forum boards.

Houston, where I live, is pretty darned kid friendly. It's just a lot cheaper to do anything....LOL other than cool your house in the summers

That's absolutely not the case.

Portland was 4th in the west, and that was great, but Portland was closer to 9th than 1st. We had a losing road record, and only beat 2 teams at or above .500 on the road. 1 after Chris Paul went out injured. Portland indeed was 4th in conference, but has a below average starter at 2 possitions. Steve Blake is a hell of a guy, but not a starting quality PG on a contending team. Nicolas Batum looks like he is going to be a really good player in a few years, but that is in a few years. Add in a back up POWER forward and you have 3 key possitions that Portland needs to address.

For this team to tell all of us that 2009 was the year we were aiming for with our cap space and not to get anything done shoul dpiss people off.

So we ended up with around 8 million to spend, and could have more if we renounce two guys that will never play here anyway. So roughly 9.5 million to spend on 3 needs and we have zero to show for it.

It has nothing to do with your rediculous boat reference, it has to do with Portland needing a couple of improvements and not using RLEC, or our FA money to get those things.

And that has more to do with how good LA was than anything. I don't really see the relevance of this statement. As if we were extremely close to missing out on the playoffs. We were also tied with 2nd place record wise. So we were just as close to 9th as every other team in the playoffs.

Yeah.. Afflalo's just an OK player. But I think Dahntay Jones was a better for fit for them with his defense and sometimes emotional outbursts like every Thugget has.
He's a nice player to replace Jones, but not that significant of an upgrade to say they'll be so much better.

What an absolute pile of Shit.

They were 4th all day every day forever and ever end of. Not to mention they finished tied with Denver who were the 2nd seed.

Yeah, but we won a number of games in which we trailed big time last year. A few bad bounces here and there, and this easily could have been a 47 win team instead of a 54 win team. And I think the fact that we got smoked in round 1 when we had home court and were playing a team missing its best player, pretty much shows that, although they finished 4th, this was probably abut the 6th or 7th best team in the west.

So I agree with Mediocre Man: we have 3 glaring needs (PG, SF, and backup PF) and have not done anything to address them this off-season, in spite of having plenty of $$ to do so. To me, the PG situation is by far the most glaring. I'm OK with Batum/Webster and a Ronny Turiaf would have sufficed at the backup PF spot. But with all this money and we don't land a Kidd/Sessions/Nash/Bibby/Miller... that's just terrible if that's how it ends up.

Portland had the 5th best point differential in the NBA last year at +5.3. Houston was 6th at +4.0.

I have no clue what you are talking about. Houston was not missing Yao against Portland, and the point differential suggests that, over an 82 game season, a strong argument can be made for Portland being the second-best team in the West last season.
