At the beginng of the season I predicted Jeter's final numbers to be 6 / 50 / 280 but I said that I'd be okay if he finished 250-260 as long as he didn't embarrass himself in his last season.

As I pointed out in another thread if Jeter duplicates his first half he'll end up with 4 / 40 / 273 and a 156 hits. bringing his career total to 3,472 good for 6th all time.

Did he exceed your expectations? Under-achive or were you expecting more.

Me, I'd be okay with it. It was not a great season but decent. Considering his age, I'd give him a B+.

Pretty much met...

I remember watching the way Mantle went out in his last season of 1968. It was sad. I didn't want to see the same thing happen to Jeter so if he ends up with the #s I mentioned I think that would be respectful enough of an ending.

Yeah... I would have hoped for more, but yeah

I was expecting him to start slow, but have a stronger 2nd half. We all know he has a reserve tank that allows him to lay it all out on the field. I'm expecting one more feat of heroism to remember. He'd need another 1-2 months to get past Tris Speaker. I'll always be disappointed he didn't have a shot to pass Aaron, but he needed a healthy 2013 and 2015 to do that. I think he can finish this year with 2011 numbers.

Jeter will finish 6th in hits for his career. behind Rose, Cobb, Aaron, Musial, & Speaker. He'd need about another 118 hits this year to tie Speaker which is just not going to happen. I mean he'd have to hit approx 390 over the last 80 games. He'll pass both Wagner & Yaz but thats it. My guess is that he'll finish around 3470.

3396 now, projected to get to 3472. He's heating up, 375 over the last week, and he could go on a tear, but I agree, not getting to 3520 unless he does an April cameo.
