Derrick Coleman?

I think that this is a great oppurtunity for the Nets. We should go after him to improve our front line. He could be attracted here since we have 3 superstars and the fact that he played for the Nets previously. What do you guys think about signing Coleman?

oh man sighning coleman would be incredible.

the only problem i see with this is i dont know what colemans conditioning is becaus i remeber at the beginning of the season i heard reports that coleman and Elden Cambell were both out of shape.

Also i just dont know how much coleman has left in his tank. also i think the sixers were having a tad bit of trouble with coleman which i think led to his trade.

But I'm sure any front line help for the Nets would be greatly appreciated.

All we need is a short term fix, to keep Kidd happy and make a run. We have the ability to move for someone more long term in the offseason. He the best out there right now.

Derrick will be fine until we have another good big body. Also, his veteran experience will help in the front court, and Collins and Nenad can learn a lot about rebounding and scoring in the paint from him.

I think it would definetly improve the frontcourt, but coleman isn't young anymore, and has had problem in the past with teams. I think the nets should sign him, but i don't think it will solve there problem, and will patch it though.

I think they should go after Joe Smith of the Bucks, in last nights game, he played great, scoring and rebounding, even played good D. He's stats show he is consistent, and can score-11ppg, 8rpg

I also like Samuel dalembert alot, but it would be really hard to get him from the sixers. PJ brown is so much $$$, Donyell Marshall would be good too. he can score, and plays good D, rebounds too, he would be a good fit, but again hard to get. Cliff Robinson would be Ok, hes 38years old, and its rebounding consistently this year, i would stay away.

Iam not for sure how much Derrick Coleman has left. But Iam pretty sure Rod Thorn wouldnt be against giving him a workout, just to see what condition his body is in & how much of his skill game is left. DC is use to be kind of a mix of finesse and power. So I think if he cant step out and hit that perimeter jumper anymore, he wont really be that effective. Anyway, he is much better option then keeping the likes of Jerome Mosio and Keniel Dickens around as bench depth.

Coleman back in NJ will be a sentimental move, but not a practical one. I enjoy watching him play with the Nets, though he had his quarrels with Nets management, but I don't really see a need for it. The Nets are getting to be a running team and I don't think at this age DC can do it anymore. After multiple injuries he's just not as sturdy anymore. HE has played only 195 games in the past five years and his skills are slowly deteriorating. I just don't know if he can help. He can still rebound which is good, but I only see him as a last resort.

Jason Williams has retired due to injury in '99. The article, to which you provided a link to does not, in my view, provide solid evidence that would indicate that he is attempting to make a comeback. That comment that was quoted by him in the post, had nothing to do with making a comeback, rather the conversation, as I remember was centered about what he does inorder to not think about his legal troubles.

Thats not proof! It says "sources say". What sources? When someone refers to some unknown souces he can say anything that he wants. Kendall Gill is not an adquate source; he might have been mis-quoted for all I know.

Heck I can say that sources say that Kevin Garnett wants to be traded. And that souces say that Minnesota is willing to accept, Mutombo's buyout contract this season as a way of trading Garnett away.

Why would you not believe Kendak gill, and Tim Hardaway said Jayson Williams is serious about making a comback.This site is read by millions of people they are not gonna lie, the article is real and tells Jayson Williams wants to make a comback, he might not, but he is trying.

The problem with the Nets the past few years have been taking risks on players they think will make a comeback or somehow get a lot better, Deke, Rodney Rogers (thought he would easily replace VanHorn), Alonzo, Ron Mercer, Jerome Moiso... Even Carter. Most of these have not worked out and so history has shown us what is most likely to happen. If we do sign Jayson back where does it end? Dennis Rodman? Todd MacCulloch for a comeback? As much as good Jayson has been I just dont think he can contribute.
