Desperate Robin Lopez salary dump coming (1 Viewer)

lopez grabs defensive boards at a worse rate than leonard, with an identical drtg, no thanks

meyers put up a dreb% of 17.1% last year, same as javalle mcgee

robin lopez put up a 13.4%, dead last in the nba among centers who played at least 15 mpg

He also played on a team where all the starters were in double digits in DRB%, I believe. Which could very easily mean his role on defense was to box out other team's best rebounder, and everyone else crash the boards.

i guess phx did the same thing for his 4 years there too...he has always been an atrocious def rebounder. he has never in his career had a drb% as high as leonards was last year

pretty good on the offensive boards though

You'd be amazed on how playing next to Aldridge will improve all your rebounding areas. Most the time, the teams put their best defender on Aldridge; which brings that defender farther from the paint. That leaves the other player to have a better opportunity to rebound. Look how well Hickson rebounded... He was considerably better than his other years.

hickson had a 25% drb% in 2010/11

im not sure that hunts as well as you would like mags

No confirmation from source Pelicans center Robin Lopez has been traded, but he definitely being shopped - Pacers interested.

How would you guys feel if we picked up Lopez, then wait until the Houston deal comes through. If it does; then use Leonard + Matthews to land asik?

I know it makes us a little thin at SG; but I think we maybe CJ, Barton and crabbes can work by committee

Honestly, if we picked up Lopez, I'd rather just keep Leonard than trade for Asik.

Do the Pacers have cap space? If not then what do they have to trade in expiring or non-guaranteed contracts? IF you believe the rumors, it sounds like it is between the Pacers and us for getting Robin Lopez in a trade.

Nice game v. the Pacers. Everything around the basket. Good compliment to LaMarcus.

25 years old, very reasonable contract, 18.9 PER last year. Doesn't sound too bad to me...

Pelicans are finalizing a 4 year, $44 million dollar deal with Tyreke Evans.

This could be mean Lopez is on the move

Don't pretend like you're reasonable. We have to hate this idea. I mean, there are so many centers available for less with fewer warts.

There goes another center. Looks like Lopez and Vazquez are heading to Sacto as part of a S&T for Tyreke Evans.

F u, Sacto. Wish you were headed to Seattle.

You made me check the tweets, and you are right. Nice job. It happened when you posted. Lopez is gone.

The Kings will sign Tyreke for what the Pels offered tonight. The Pels will sign & trade Lopez and Vasquez, then trade them for Tyreke. This is set in stone. Unless we pay off Stern.

Maybe we could jump in and do a 3-way trade? But it looks like you're right, there goes another center. If we don't have something lined up for Asik then I'm getting worried...

Crap.

Well, there's still Bogut and Asik.

I was all in favor of getting Lopez because he came cheap and he is active and a good defender. However I don't think he is a very good rebounder. So I can't say i am too bummed.

Hmm...looks like we're down to Kaman or Dalembert. I think it would be fine to give them 1 or 2 year deals at about 5 mil, then we'd have some left over to get another bench player.

Per @ailene_voisin report on Kings/NO trade, no deal done but scenario would send Robin Lopez to Portland, Vasquez to Sac, Evans to Pelicans

Just when I think we're out, they pull me back in!

LOL

Based on those salaries, any guesses on who goes out from Portland? No mention of Hixson, so I hope it's just our cap space -- we can't afford to lose assets.

Could just be Sacramento not wanting the extra salary of Lopez. They don't have a big need for him, with Cousins, Thompson and Hayes all in the front court making about the same. Maybe Barton as a small incentive?

Just a thought, but with Lillard, Matthews, McCollum....maybe it's Crabbe or Barton?

I'd give up Freeland.

That wouldn't work because freeland would take 3 mil of the 5 mil salary. I don't know though, maybe they just need 2 mil free? If olshey pulled that off, I'd be ecstatic!

Hopefully not Crabbe, I like what I have seen and read about him. catch and shoot from the baseline looks solid. Reggie Miller part 2! jk

First time I've ever mentioned the idea of a 3-way that might actually come true.

Maybe we're just the cap relief. But if someone did take Freeland, we'd only have to cover a couple mil and we'd still have money in the bank, no?

Not that it would be a huge deal, but (even with Freeland going out) it removes the ability for us to keep JJ's rights for an S&T. We can still sign him to a smaller contract (if this deal was basically Lopez-for-Freeland from our end, it would start at 6.7M instead of his 7.6M hold that lets us go over the cap) and trade him later, but that's just one aspect of the deal you have to think about. If it was just for our cap space, we'd have 4.3M and the Room Exception (2 years starting at 2.6M) left.
