He has a face that is just begging for a solid open ice hit.Whatever, he can be put face first through the glass for all I care.
I think him saying that is a way of relaxing himself before a do or die game, plus thinking about how he views where the team is moving forward. Nothing's guaranteed moving forward but when you exceed expectations as much as they did, rationalizing it can loosen you up in a good way in this type of game. Let's hope not too good.
I have to be honest, and it's what fans do, I think we are reading way too much into it. Whatever happens tonight will happen regardless of Hughes saying what he said to take pressure off his team. I don't think it is much more than that. And to be real, I think he is right. 3 weeks from now who says man the Devs had a terrible season or collapsed in round 1, no one. They will look back and say great season by the Devs, bright future. So he is also saying what is real, like it or not.
Agreed - no matter how you cut it, or what you say, you are playing in a game 7, at home as well, and there will be some level of pressure. I do think it is lesser on the Devs given their circumstances, but it is there. No one wants to lay an egg, or lose in that situation.Don’t disagree that we are reading too much into it. But I also don’t think it absolves that much pressure in NJ. It’s a freaking G7, win or go home. Pressure for both teams. Prob even more so with Boston out.
