2. Kevin Garnett had his bag of tricks open again tonight. The crowning moment came when he got down like a dog on all fours after Jerryd Bayless on an inbounds play late in the fourth. (I don’t know if the local TV cameras caught it but the ESPN cameras did.) The national announcers were flabbergasted, saying they’d never seen anything like that. I am not into giving Garnett credit or attention for his antics but that grandstanding, combined with the drubbing we took, needs to be enough. I will tell you that should that ever be repeated I would have zero problems with Bayless or anyone else turning and kneeing Garnett upside the head when he’s down there like that. Either that or fire a bounce pass hard off the floor and up into his face. I know a suspension would follow, but how long could it be after provocation like that? The guy was down on all fours crawling across the court in a game where his team was up by 13. If this were the old ABA back in the 60’s and 70’s somebody would have done worse than that. They probably would have slapped him in a headlock or laid an elbow across the back of his neck for showing them up and then the benches would have cleared. I’m not sure this new league is better because it takes away the correction for stuff like this.

Were I the Blazers--and I’m talking the players and not the coaches--this would be part of what I’d be talking about in a player’s only meeting on the plane or in the hotel tonight. I am not suggesting the Blazers start anything. But for their own good they need to respond if anything like that is repeated. This has gone far enough now and it’s starting to affect the reputation of this team, if not the team’s perception of itself. That cannot be allowed to happen. They need to show Boston, the league, and most importantly themselves that nobody messes with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Did anyone see this? I was watching the KGW feed and didn't see it.

What a punk bitch. I wanted him to win after all of those years in Minnesota. Now I wish he had never gone to Boston. Reminds me of my friend Mike who was a virgin until his mid 20s. Got laid one time and thought he was Brad Pitt for the rest of the time I associated with him. The girl looked like a cracked out 35 year old Kate Hudson, YIKES!

PURE SCUMBAG....serioulsy we should let frye take out garnetts knee in portland. frye prob would even screw taht up and hit oden by accident lol

Out of the elite teams, the Cavaliers and Lakers are so much more likable. The Celtics should take note from those two teams. It's a shame too, because I really like Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins, but KG is just horrible. He is acting like a little dumbass everygame, and should be punished by the NBA for their actions.

Hopefully next time the Bulls play the Celtics Vinny just sticks Tyrus/Nocioni on him all game, those two have no problem getting physical. I'm sure Vinny will give the team the directions "Take out KG if he messes with Rose".

I'll be interested to see the League's reaction to that little display. It should cost him $20K or so.

I just saw it looking at the replay on espn360. It was 71/82 and then Perkins got the dunk. You can see Garnett getting on all fours and crawling at Bayless, but only for about a split second, since they changed the camera. The announcers saw it though and JVG sounded disgusted.

I always said that if I were the coach in 92, I would have had Duckworth (RIP) "accidentally" land on MJ's ankle.

But I know that I would never do that and I hope nobody cripples Garnett either. I just can't wait for him to break down physically on his own, I just think that might be a long way off still. Sucks.

garnett is the kind of player that people who hate he NBA think of when bad mouthing the league.

hes a punk. pierce is a thug and that is your nba champs. and we wonder why many hate the NBA. how can you root or watch that scum?

KG did this earlier in the season already to another PG, I just can't remember who. KG needs attention and this is how he is going to go about getting it. Since he's afraid to take the big shot when it matters most, he will slowly turn into a mix between the hustle of Mark Madsen, and enforcer like Charles Oakley. He's still a good player deserving to make the all-star team, but he just happens to be a punk at the same time. When his skills decline he better retire because all the young players he's disrespected in the league will certainly take advantage of embarrassing him if they get a chance.

The Patriots were the same way: always winning without respect (running up the score, egotistical). Is there something in the Boston drinking water?

I have to say, I used to like Garnett...and I wanted to like him on the Celtics, finally getting rid of that silly label of "unable to win." But he really seems to have changed. He's an incredibly bad winner. I'm not a particularly violent person, but one of the Blazers should have "accidentally" kneed him in the ribs. Nothing injurious, just a little painful.

Yeah, I think he did this earlier in the season to Jose Calderon, and Calderon got pissed and nearly went after him. The guy's a big asshole, can't win with class. I wish he just stayed in Minnesota, got his first-round exits every year or missed the playoffs completely.

Apparently he did it against David West before

not tryin to defend kg here but i dont think the move was anything disrespectful or a punk move. it looked like he was tryin to sneak up behind jerryd while the ball was being inbounded in hopes of catching him off gaurd and getting a steal. either way i wouldnt mind seeing him get popped in the mouth for all that talkin he does. anyone notice that kg was the one who caused roys hamstring injury? he stuck his ass out intentionally while roy was in the air causing him to land funny. now that was a punk move.

I kind of agree, but there is no reason to be on all 4's. He was hoping to get the steal and disrespect the Blazers at the same time. In the post-game on the national feed he did agree with the sideline lady that the Blazers were a talented team, fwiw

After losing for so long, the players, coaches and fans in Boston forgot how to win with class. Garnett was a loser his whole career in Minnesota. He wins a title in Boston and suddenly he has to disrespect everyone they beat during the regular season. The Pats cheat and run up the score. Evidently, winning isn't enough to make Garnett happy. He has to humiliate his opponent in the process. It must be some sort of compensation for the years of humiliation he suffered in Minnesota.

I just hope when the Blazers finally win their second (and beyond) NBA Championship they do it with class, dignity and respect.

The Blazer fan in me naturally despises the Lakers, but now I'm conflicted. Thanks to Garnett and his punkass act, I actually find myself hating the Celtics even more.

I don't condone deliberately injuring an opponent, but if a player intentionally puts himself in a position when his mouth is at knee level, the natural progression is contact between the knee and mouth that results in said player spitting out a mouthful of Chiclets.

BNM

HOWIE thinks that someone needs to be neutered, but that is just my opinion and does not reflect the entire Blazer Fan Base. :D

I can't wait til the celtics come to the Rose Garden.
Boston = classless fans

On another note, anyone know what he said to Big Baby that made him cry??

What's the big deal? Nobody would be bitching and moaning if we'd won the game. And I don't see what makes KG a 'punk' for this strategy of trying to get in the heads of our young players.

I was bitching about it when he did it earlier in the year to another team...

Is that what he's doing? I plead ignorance on this topic, so please help me out. If Garnett is acting like a dog, isn't he humiliating himself? How does this humiliate his opponent?

I think it's a stupid thing to do, but I don't see how it makes anyone except Garnett look ridiculous.

I watched the end of the game this morning and don't think it is as big of a deal as it seemed.

Jeff Van Gundy is hilarious sometimes.
