Did Neil tell Aldridge to say those things? I doubt it

What a crock of shit
That's the main evidence right there. If their publicists were smart, it would have been linked at draft day.

LMA isn't claiming "I changed my mind." He is claiming Olshey asked him to lie. Rather a major difference!
I don't see it as a lie as much as a calculated diversion to accomodate Neil's contingency. Go ahead and hate the guy..I refuse to get all stressed about it. I'm still an Aldridge fan..still an Olshey fan.

When someone trolls you the best way to get back at them is pretend the dont exist. Aldridge was never happy here. The fans never embraced him. We chanted marcus camby and Gerald Wallace over this guy name. Why? Because deep down we all saw the truth, the dude isnt a get the hard work done and leave it all on the court kind of guy, and that is the kind of player portland fans love.

So move on guys. Dude left for where he always wanted to go and we got work horses. Work horses we can cheer for. Work horses and loyal guys that deserve their names chanted.

I got an igloo I have for sale in San Antonio I want to sell you. It's a good deal

So just like that..

You bought into the notion that this was concocted by the LA Camp? Keep in mind who his agent is. The respect he has around the league.

It wouldn't be surprise me at all if Neil did it. We've established Neil as a liar.

Oh for fucks sake, this is a petty swipe at the blazers, with whom BE has had beef with since last year about credentials. What the absolute fuck, if anyone believes BE at this point they need their heads checked.

Some "unnamed sources"... I hope olshey comes out and bashes them for the frauds they are.

I mean to believe this is just beyond the pale. Just think about how ridiculous it is.

Dave seems to have been in full 'hate Olshey' mode for sometime now and has lost some objectivity both in columns and on his podcast. Probably not paying much attention until he calms down a bit. I get that he loves the team and is a massive fan and appreciate the content but good grief, it's been full blown vitriol for a while with no objectivity to any other side of the story or viewpoint.

Not saying this whole thing is true, but the Kim Hughes video doesn't help Olshey's case.

About what? It's pretty obvious he knew LA was leaving, but when? It's conceivable that he still thought LA would stay last summer. I just find it highly highly unlikely that Aldridge would agree to say those things if he didn't actually believe them.

Journalists are going to write..na na nana na articles for a month now. If you think the politics of sports media is truthful and GMs don't hide facts to work deals..well there's always mags igloo in Texas!

This.

I call BS on this report. You can go back and watch LMA's play this year, and there are two definitive times he "gives up" and mails it in. The first was with about 10-15 games remaining in the year. The second was in the playoffs.

If LMA was set on leaving the entire year, he would have mailed it in to start the year.

He would've gotten the same check by getting surgery on his thumb and sitting out the season..so there's that

Yup. Plus the whole traveling alone, showing up late thing in the middle of the playoffs.

If LA was going to stay he would have signed the extension. Just by reading your posts, you've come to that connclusion. LA had a pretty good feeling for a long time that he wasn't going to be here permanently. No matter who it was for, he was going to say what had to say get himself out of bad situation. Especially if it worked. And it did.

It is conceivable that he changed his mind. They were fresh off a second round exit against the Spurs. We had a ton of good publicity and everyone was excited. It's possible that he really did want to stay at that point, but the seeds were already planted that he is a jealous person, he had thought about leaving already, and the draw to go back to Texas was strong. I just find it HIGHLY unlikely that the Blazers told him to say those things, and if they did, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that he would agree to do it.

I guess fireworks were to be expected given it's the 4th of July! Happy independence day Blazer fans!

Blessing in disguise, especially with the new quick article confirming everything about Aldridge's personality.

What I'l say about that is as much as BlazersEdge might hate Neil Olshey, it's been clear to me that Quick isn't a big fan of Aldridge's.

Who the hell knows at this point. Neil needs to finalize the roster and make some trades and then SL needs to start. Tired of thinking about this.

It was the 2015 playoffs, Memphis, and the Trail Blazers' bus was idling in front of the team hotel. A steady stream of players, coaches and support staff had boarded for the past 20 minutes, yet for the last five minutes, nary a soul had approached the steps.

Still, the bus remained idling. Brake lights glowing. Engine chortling. Exhaust billowing toward Beale Street.

And it remained idling ... and idling ... and idling ... for a good five minutes.

Finally, the brake lights relented. The driver spotted what he was waiting on: From the hotel, LaMarcus Aldridge emerged, giant headphones over his ears. When he boarded, the bus immediately went into gear and headed toward the arena.

What struck me when I watched that scene, and what I've thought about often since then, is this: I wonder what Damian Lillard was thinking as he waited on that bus?

Lmao. Quick is hilarious with this shit. He stirs it up but I think he's actually pretty decent at his job.

More like... Everyone bet on last year's team. It blew up when Wes got hurt. LMA might have stayed if they went deep in the playoffs.

Pretty much this, and who knows what the vibe was at that point. I'm guessing Lillard filled the leadership void and LMA didn't want to go back to being second fiddle. Probably a good deal of bitterness from his impending Max, giant shoe deal, etc as well.

Maybe Lillard froze guys out, maybe he didn't get along with guys. I'm sure we will find out.

But I'm not gonna say LMA lied about staying, at the time he likely believed it himself. He changed his mind. And that really fucking sucks for the Blazers. I am a Blazer fan. Hence the feels.

Well, the scenario where he looks good is if he becomes option #1 on the Spurs and they win 10 straight championships because of him.

Seems... unlikely.

barfo

Agreed.

LMA looks like crap either way. He is either a liar who said a bunch of bullshit. Or now he's putting out bullshit to make others look like liars. I don't see any scenario where he looks good

He doesn't look good, but he still might look better than Olshey.
