See, that's logical. That's military. Eliminate the danger so it can never be used again.

The Syrian airbase attack feels political. The threat of more chemical attacks still remains.

I have no doubt some of it was political. Most military objectives and wars are tied to politics.

I'm just saying that I'm confident that our military intelligence got what mattered at this specific time.

With 6 years in the Marine Corps, I saw too many fellow Marines die due to faulty information or so called military intelligence.

Have you ever heard of a trap or ambush??? Putin is setting a trap.

Putin and Assad planned these chemical attacks knowing Trump would respond. Now Putin can unlock his air defense systems making it much more dangerous for Trump to respond a second time. They care little for how much damage Trump's bombing did. Only that Assad can now use the most advanced air defense systems against us.

Thank you for your service.

But about that air defense system.....what makes you think it's so great? They have an aircraft carrier that breaks down, aircraft left over from the Cold War, and a populace with barely-functioning vehicles. Not to mention old and crumbling infrastructure.

Yet....they have an air defense system that can embarrass a 1st World Superpower like America? With respect...I'm not sure I believe that.

If Trump were his puppet:

1) Putin wouldn't be upset about this
2) We wouldn't have taken any action at all or condemned Assad's action
3) Learn the game, then post.
 
I'm not very confident that Trump is up for this. He is acting a little bit like Leroy Jenkins.

Lots of info on the S400 which is now in Syria. Russia also has a larger system the S500 almost ready to deploy. Air defense is where the Russians have been spending $$$$.

Assad had a pretty good thing going, Russia is on his side, the US is focused on taking out some of his enemies. Having two of the world's superpowers in your country, one helping you, the other not fucking with you, seems like the absolute best case scenario when having a large scale protracted civil war.

Then suddenly he decides to drop some chemical weapons? It's pretty much the one thing that would cause us to react. His generals work with Russian generals daily. He waits for them to leave the room and then calls for a chem drop? That doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense.

And then our response. We don't target Assad. We don't target any of his generals. We target the airbase where the chemical attack was launched from. We actually call the Russians and tell them where and when we're going to attack. The president himself said multiple times announcing our military plans in advance is a terrible strategy but this is exactly what we do.

Just not sure that Assad launched a chemical attack without Russia's knowledge and approval.

And that's the problem.

Why? Why now? Why provoke us into a reaction?

Seems like Russia is playing chess while we're claiming to be the world's greatest checkers players.

Just because the media reported chemical attacks doesn't mean it's true. I don't believe it for one second.

Then why is he attacking the Russian backed military of Syria? WITHOUT congressional consent...
