People comparing Trump to Hitler are seriously diminishing the shit that Hitler did. I don't like Trump, but come on..... comparing a guy who wants to round up people who are in the country illegally to deport them, with a guy who rounded up and exterminated citizens from all over Europe is extremely insulting to the suffering that Jews faced in WWII.

Whether you agree with Trump or not, these people are in the country illegally. They are breaking the law. You can't dispute that. There is a law, and they're breaking it. Trump's way of dealing with that is building a silly wall that won't accomplish anything, and deporting the people who are already in the country. Can we PLEASE stop comparing that to Hitler? I think he's got a loooong way to go before he can even remotely be compared to Hitler.

Do I think Trump would march Latinos to the gas chamber? No. Is he using Hitler silent majority, us vs them, I'm gonna make America great again by building a wall and banning Muslims, Muslims are the problem, Mexicans are rapists tactics? Yes. They are straight out of Mein Kampf. They are the same tactics Hitler used to gain power.

Geez! did you seriously post this? Man that is near wacko award winning material.

What did you come outta your bomb shelter to quip about? He's talking about rounding up Mexicans. Some of them will undoubtedly be legal citizens who will be persecuted for simply being brown. You guys say government can't do shit right but you trust it to correctly and safely round up 11 million without harming the innocent?

He's literally talking about rounding up families and displacing them.

And Mexico is gonna pay for it all...

Hitler didn't rise to power telling the masses the attrocities he would carry out.

There have to be other politicians who have used hot button topics to get elected. Using Hitler is just such a gross exaggeration at this point. He has a long way to go before we can even remotely compare the two men.

Fair enough. He's still a racist in my view, and in those kids' view as well. He is who they're protesting.

But please don't act like when a demand to see birth certificates and rounding people up is suggested, that Hitler comparisons aren't suggested as well.

You know who rounded people up? FDR. Nobody talks about that dude when there is talk of rounding people up, and he did it in the United States of America.

Oh come now Nate! FDR is well into the Beautification process. No liberal will even squeak.

I do hate to think what would have happen though, if the Japanese Americans had not been kept isolated. The hateful talk was real and often, American guys wounded were coming back to the states in ship loads. A frightful number a families were notified of their missing one, KIA daily, especially here on the West Coast. Battle after battle, Iwo Jima, 27000 casualties, Okinawa even more, 360,000 casualties to the sailors of the fleet.

Terrible the way the government treated the Japanese, but they did survive.

Sorry Sly, I do notice you have pain over this issue. I did not intend to cause you more, but I did intend for you notice how many time you do post about this, and I fear your pain will not stop until you let it go. Then it can heal. You can not correct the view of everyone that might use the word Spic anymore than the one eyed man can improve the imagery of the blind. He died in the attempt you know.

Heck, many people experience difficulties in this country when they don't speak quite like the All American. When I began school, I spoke far too much Gaelic for the liking of my teachers, hell they corrected me on how to pronounce my name every time I said it. I would ask my people how to say it, then stubbornly say it again in school.

You are not the first to hear shit over the way you or your parents speak, but screw it man, let it go. You owe no one and it sounds like your father paid his dues in full. Feel no pain, you are all legal, so is mine, dad paid the full price. We all need to insist that all new comers also do the Ellis Island of their day. The rule of law needs to be kept for the benefit of all citizens.

Seriously, what the fuck are you even talking about?

No, I have no pain. I'm still cracking up over this. There are no scabs or pain or baggage or whatever else you're trying to project. I've brought up racial incidents that I've witnessed directed at my father 3 or 4 times in the forum as they directly related to the conversation. This isn't a soap box, this is life. All to often we get these black and white arguments in here. There are some in here who have claimed that they've never witnessed racism first hand. Or when it is racism it was some how justified.

What is even more hilariously interesting is when the denial of racism doesn't work then suddenly a pivot occurs, "Hey, I'm a victim of racism too. No one cared about me, why should I care about them!"

Look at you, your daughter was a victim of racism, your father was a picked on immigrant, and now suddenly it turns out that even you were some how a victim because of Gaelic something or other.

My point in mentioning my father is not to claim he was or is a victim, its that there are idiots out there and those idiots can be dangerous. (No, I'm not calling you an idiot.)

My father is not a victim. He came here and through hard work and a little luck found and achieved everything he wanted in life. I look at my father with pride.

We now have people patrolling the border themselves, the only authority they have to do this is self appointed. If we start this grand removal of all illegals can you honestly say that there won't be self appointed enforcers of this? Roaming patriots on the lookout for dem dirty illegals? That's my concern. I've seen first hand people make wrong assumptions based only on an accent and then precede to act like fucking assholes based on those wrong assumptions. The last thing I want is to see these idiots embolden to act out even more.

Nah. They don't walk out of school like this for no reason.
They are high school kids. Of course they do.

Some dont and are trying to make a change and thats fine. But some kids are little shits and only care about getting out of class.

Your dad is a good man sly. I commend anyone that comes here the right way and works his ass off for a better life. Good for him.

Mags has met my dad, I think he likes him more than me, lol. Actually Mags really took a liking to my mom. Hmmmm... maybe I'll trade my mom for Mags' wife.

Did they walk out last week? Last month? Why not?

Are you saying some high school kids arent little shits? Of course they are. Its ignorant to think at least some of them used it as a time to skip class. Obviously many chose to protest, im not denying that.

>>> Nope never said my daughter was a victim of racism. I said or implied discrimination. I suspect that is it the exception that dviss feels is ok.
I ask him and you butted in. That is why we are here.

>>> Nope never said father was a picked on immigrant. He spoke differently as you said your father did.

. >>> Nope never said I was a victim, I never am. But I did try to point out that a lot of people get treated differently than you would like when they don't speak as Americans do. My perception anyway.

Yes we do, and that is a direct result of the government, specifically the recent administrations not doing the job they should, enforcing the law.
Individuals should not need to take up the task themselves. Trump promised to do the job, free lance citizens should not be needed if he follows through as he should.

Now. I am done with this, I hope you are too.

For Edith Garcia, it didn't matter that the incident happened 35 miles away or that one of the students who hung the "build a wall" banner had apologized.

What happened in Forest Grove last week — when hundreds of Washington County teenagers left school to protest the banner as an attack on Latino immigrants — mattered. And Garcia, a junior at Roosevelt High School in North Portland, didn't want to forget it.

"The Latino community has been experiencing racism and discrimination for far too long," Garcia said. "I was feeling the same things the Latino students in Forest Grove were feeling. Thanks to their walking-out demonstrations last week, it enabled me to follow in their footsteps."

Friday night, she started spreading the word. Portland students needed to walk out, too.

She left school mid-morning Monday, just after English class, and headed downtown. Technically, what Garcia organized was a protest.

Can I walk out of work in protest? I want a day off as well.

It wont work out well for him. Hes a white male. The equity people where he works will shit all over him and try to get him.fired if he did.

If he has a legitimate beef, maybe others will walk out with him.
