I don’t know if it’s pinching pennies as much as it’s realizing our best chance at obtaining a star is drafting one. So trading a possible one away would be stupid.

Sorry, but it's not just your thread, Nate, it's something I see here all the time. People make up little scenarios that, as far as we know, the Blazers aren't even considering and then feel compelled to share just how ticked they're going to be IF the Blazers trade, or don't trade, Player X.

Here's the thing --- I understand why most if not everyone loves Sharpe but we also have to be real and realize that under the right conditions the team MIGHT have to trade Sharpe. If the Blazers have to trade him to get a top 30 ish player to put beside Dame then they have to consider it but it has to be for a true impact player. I do think Sharpe is the future but IF the fans want Dame to have a legit chance to get a ring then it's possible Sharpe might have to be sacrificed for that to happen and this is a truth some fans need to wrap there mind around. However I do realize IF he is traded there is a good chance this is Jermaine O'Neal for Dale Davis 2.0 and that would suck but worth it IF the team becomes a contender through any deal Sharpe might be in.

Well yes, the Blazers are so close to contending for a title all they need is Dale Davis to put them over the top. Great idea.

This would be closer to trading Kobe Bryant for Vlade Divac.

IMO Getting angry at something you are passionate about is what being a fan is. It’s also just as real as getting mad about something at work, or at a car that cuts you off, or a bar being out of Lagavulin

Ok I think we all love Sharpe but if those two guys (or Luka, Jokic, Tatum) become available and they want Sharpe than you don't 'consider' trading him, you do it in a heartbeat if that is the difference maker in the deal.

I think you missed the point. Getting mad about trading Sharpe if that's actually in the Blazers' plans? Sure, that's what passionate fans do. Getting mad about even the possibility of trading Sharpe, when nobody is saying that's on the table? That's just wasted fan energy in my book.

I’m not creating a scenario. I’m imploring them to not trade him this summer as part of a package for some Star.

also I didn’t say anything about how I would feel in my original post. I said it would be a mistake if they trade him.

The list for Sharpe trades would be short based on what we've seen up to now. The man has all sorts of talent and potential to improve and prove he's alls star material but that has yet to be accomplished. It's great to get excited about it like most did with Ant exploding against Sac during that last game of the season. MJ said in an interview that we pay players now days for potential right out of hs/college. I say Sharpe should play in Vegas as that league is made for guys like him. Once he's consistent at dominating a game against playoff teams, like Dame has then he has arrived.
It takes more than show casing against mediocre teams, he's still a few years out in my mind from possibly being that player we all want.
