I will always defend the afflalo trade cause no one expected Wes to go down and that changed everything. Afflalo was a role player at best.
Don't disagree; all of those three trades had reasons they could work out well and be a step to contending. Turns out none of them were steps, and we'd have undone all of them if we knew what the future held at the time of the trade.

We shouldn't send out a super high value lottery pick, thats worth much more than any of those prior picks traded away, unless it directly results with us being a contender. Even moves that landed Durant in Brooklyn, Paul George in LAC, etc haven't resulted in titles.... so we certainly shouldn't trade away extremely valuable lottery picks for a window that is much worse than those.

Just because Olshey did a poor job building a contender around Dame, doesn't mean the team should throw away the future to try and make up for it. All those prior Olshey moves are sunk costs.

The Blazers have had 7 lottery picks since 1984... these aren't assets a small market team in Portland can just send away for a veteran that may or may not help the team build a contender as in the Afflalo/Roco/Nance trades. If the Blazers send that asset away, they have to be very sure it will make them a contender.

Everyone remembers this "win now" trade. Gerald was an all star and 1st team all defense in 2010.
In 2012 he was traded from the Blazers to the Nets.

"Gerald gives us some great defense, versatility, he's a hard worker and he'll provide leadership," Nets general manager Billy King said in a Thursday night conference call, hours after the 3 p.m. trade deadline passed.

King said it was difficult to give up the pick, but "in meeting with our scouts, we felt the player that we may draft beyond the protection would be somebody that would probably take a couple years (to develop), and at this point, we're trying to speed the process up a bit and start winning (more).

I forget beyond Barton what we sent out for that trade, so my basis for defending is the trade is the unforeseen circumstances that contingencies couldn't be readily available because the trade itself at the time made complete sense regardless of what we had sent out. (Barton did well in Denver but he was meh)

A bit bigger picture. Love Westbrook in the far right panel.

Also have Lillard signed card and a Shaedon rookie card.

And I’m out. I guess since they aren’t having it in Portland, he has no problem going. I assume they are paying him. I know he has no problem taking the teams money

Well I guess the first new member of the broadcast team is, wait.......you guesed it! Brandon Roy!

So has a place been selected?

1080 is doing one a Brix.
620 is doing one at Illani.

Do we have a separate place?

The one at Brix, is it at the Portland site or the Tualatin site?

@HomerLovesKoolAid and I are show up at Buffalo Gap between 4-4:30. I'll be buying some appetizers for everyone to share.

"Hi, can you cook one french fry and cut it up into 30 pieces?"
C'mon at least get 30 french fries? Who's a good dog? Somebody will scratch you behind the ear? Please don't roll over and ask to have your belly scratched. Last time that was kind of embarrassing. Have they broke you of that other habit yet?

Okay, you get two fries but you can't tell anyone.

I really do wish I could be there. However, while I'm wandering the Judean wilderness on Tuesday, I'll try to remember to pray for you all.

Sounds like the perfect time and place to offer up a prayer for our lottery chances. That and maybe offering one up at the Wailing Wall (what a perfect name for this forum). Whatever might help our chances (besides BRoy).
