Do you believe in Heaven and Hell? (3 Viewers)

There is definitive scientific proof that the Bible is Bullshit.

If that book is unreliable so is the entire religion, imo. I still *think* there is a God but I don't know.

Um, you obviously haven't read my other posts in this thread.

Hint - I don't believe in a God, but I don't disbelieve, either.

As for Eintein's theory, it's on pretty shaky ground these days.

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. - What were you doing when you were 12 years old?

Playing video games? Dreaming of winning a Heisman Trophy? Maybe starting to show a little interest in the opposite sex?

It’s probably safe to say you weren’t taking on Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

Well, that’s what 12-year-old Jake Barnet, of Hamilton County, Indiana, is proposing. Jake has become somewhat of an Internet star thanks to YouTube videos of his ideas about mathematics and physics, which his mom shoots and posts online.

In one of the most recent videos, Jake discusses Einstein’s Theory of relativity, explaining in the description why he might have a different theory:

“My initial perception from this is that light does have mass,” Jake writes. “Obviously, energy coming out of a system where light is emitted could not be conserved otherwise. You can correct me later if I change my mind, but for the moment this is my perception.”

Jake has a mild form of autism, according to Time.com, and he also has an I.Q. of 170. He taught himself calculus, algebra and geometry in two weeks and graduated high school at the age of eight. He has been attending college-level physics classes since then.

That's obviously pretty impressive for a 12 year old to say, but it's gibberish nonetheless.

Definitive proof that you have yet to provide, as you obviously have information that no one else has. I also love that you think have the authority to call an entire religion bullshit. Want to take a swing at the questions I posed to you earlier?

PS - "Scientific proof" is an oxymoron

Plus, you just blew up Einstein's theory of relativity, and I doubt you know why.

No, actually that's not the case (and yes, I doubt you know why). Here's why: special relativity doesn't apply to space itself.

Like I said, above, either I trust the Scriptures in their entirety, or not at all. I choose the former. Therefore, I don't question God.

Few dared to question hitler either.

god is like hitler. A domineering egomaniac who tortures all who refuse to grovel at his feet, and even some who do. Probably has short man syndrome too.

In answer to Sinobas's question you definitely would torture your children with fire if they disobeyed you, because you fear god's wrath more than you love your children.

Nice "religion" you've got there.

Photons have no mass, otherwise they couldn't travel at the speed of light.

The kid is wrong.

Well, I guess you've got God all figured out, then. There's nothing more to say.

Einstein was 26 when he first published his Theory of Relativity.

Jacob Barnett has a 170 IQ, higher than Einstein's estimated 160, and lives in a world of knowledge that Einstein did not in 1905.

Most scientists who have commented on Barnett's ideas have said he seems to be on the right track.

Current experiments are shattering the theory also as we speak.

I have no idea what you mean by that.

it is trivial to demonstrate that faith is useless as a tool for finding objective truth. humans continually come to believe many mutually incompatable things through faith, as well as many things that are later proven to be patently false.

you have no means to distinguish the 'rightness' of your faith - no means to determine if you aren't just fooling yourself through faith, as you must necessarily agree a large portion of humanity is prone to do.

in light of that when you say your god requires faith you are just making an excuse for your belief, not providing a justification.

It's not hard. Anyone willing to question the absurd can figure him out too.

But you've got to question. Nobody ever learned anything without questioning.

Even Dorothy had the stones to look behind the curtain. Man up.

lots of physicists think general relativity is likely to just be an approximation of reality simply due to the fact that it appears to be incompatable with quantum mechanics.

My opinion is that the universe is infinite, and these theories may apply in some places while not in others.

I questioned/rebelled for over 30 years. I then found truth. It may very well not be your truth, but it's my truth.

Right, you just continue to flaunt your own ignorance. Do you even care if people take you seriously?

In your case, no.

BTW, care to offer an example of my ignorance or do you wish everyone to just accept it on faith?

Sure thing

...in regards to God. I literally laughed out loud when I read this. Yes Maris, you know the mind of God Almighty. Extremely arrogant or ignorant, or both.

That is an amazing coincidence........or is it? ;)

It may very well not be your truth, but it's my truth.

we're talking about objective reality here. what's true is true regardless of what you believe. theism is not a matter of aesthetics.

What are you talking about? I believe in God and have faith that what He says (through His Word and through the work of the Holy Spirit) is true. That's my reality. Subjective to you, or not.

what do you mean 'that's my reality'? god either exists or he doesn't independent of what either of us think or believe. we are both in the same reality.

unless you're arguing for solipsism, which would be a really odd thing for a christian to do.

I can't fault you for your results then. I'm happy for you if you're happy.

I literally found Heaven the day I determined christianity was just another transparent attempt at crowd control. Living in the real world is far more amazing than any story in the bible. I live each day to the fullest and enjoy each and every little nuance of it, knowing this is IT. I'm not expecting a reward or punishment when I die. My life is my reward if I live it, or my punishment if I waste it waiting for something better.
