Like MIXUM wasn't a Troll. He was the Definition of a troll. He brought a lot of traffic here because of his outlandish posts which in all honesty I don't care about because I always had him on ignore. But to call the people who had problems with MIXUM trolls is beyond hysterical because there is no one thats even close to as big of a Troll as he was.

Well I don't see anyone on either coast posting those links now! I just looked at a list of the last 15 threads Mixum started. Nearly all of them were very informative in one way or another. Not as trollish as you'd think.

Yeah--I don't think it's a location thing so much as an attention thing. MIXUM loved to start threads because he loved to see how many responses/views those threads would get. You ever notice how often he would refer to that? I'll be honest--I do the same thing whenever I start a thread. It's pretty common with insecure people (myself included)--it's like a form of validation.

Basically (IMO), the rest of the people in here aren't as needy as MIXUM in that regard, hence fewer threads being started.

MIXUM was the heart and soul of this forum. He was combative, attention-whoring, whiny and self-congratulatory. In short, he was us. We are him.

I miss that funny, silly little guy...

It's the weekend. It's spring break. It's march madness.

Those three all have significantly more to do with the activity being a bit down than Mixum's banning.

Starting threads calling out a poster specifically, and also derailing threads by using his real name, is trollish also.

Some posters out-trolled MIXUM. I consider maxiep, chrisinpdx, and a few others no better than MIXUM, at least in their mutual exchanges.

I don't know who you are, but looking at your history, I've posted many, many more nuts and bolts basketball threads than you have in your time here.

Perhaps. Yet looking at other Blazer sites, their traffic seems normal. Plus, I'm still waiting for the "good" posters who said that they would post here now to start posting ASAP.

You're right. Mixum was the glue that held this forum together, and his banning has alienated many posters, perhaps hundreds!

They've all left the board in a sign of solidarity!

Hell, I'm at Disneyland, caught the end of the game at the ESPN Zone, and am typing silently while the family sleeps. The thing that irks me is that the Blazers are at Staples tomorrow night, yet we have dinner a "Goofy's Theater" or something like that at 6pm. Soooooo close, but we have plans.

My lack of posting has much more to do with my annual infatuation with the NCAA tourney. NBA is kind of on the back-burner right now.

Nah -- just poking some satirical fun at folks actually getting bent out of shape over MIXUM's absence. You miss his constant hunt for any Blazer's related headline to spin into negative nonsense? Get on the ball -- it really isn't all that hard. You miss his constant antagonizing of actual fans? You seem to be doing fine on that count. You miss his use of silly nicknames, like "kpee"? Good news! I've taken care of that for you, PapaGee.

Now why don't you take me out of your sights, and set some achievable targets for yourself -- I'm sure you'll be able to harass five more posters before tipoff if you try real hard.

I get that some folks miss what MIXUM brought -- I do. He definitely stirred shit up and always got a ton of responses in his threads; that was obviously his primary goal as a poster here. There's no question that he posted some material that would not otherwise have been posted, but how valuable was it, really? Almost every time I saw a MIXUM thread with actual Blazer news, it was some random tidbit that I had already seen, just with a super-negative "read between the lines" commentary spin. A bunch of folks would take the bait and respond (myself included, I admit), and the cycle would continue. Was it worth it, in terms of value to the site? I think the majority has decided that it was not.

MIXUM was a high-contrast poster. He regularly took stances that were so extreme, so negative, that the regular spectrum of positions by other posters was totally washed out -- most discussions came down, in the end, to MIXUM vs. the world. If PapaG really misses this kind of lopsided "debate", I believe he is fully capable of filling the void. If he just wants to see more assorted Blazer tidbits posted, I think he could fill that void too.

But he didn't come to this thread to generate or inspire positive content - he just came to call out "Denny and the trolls who had MIXUM banned" and moan about the board not being what it used to be. That position is what I was targeting. Nothing good was lost that can't be replaced.
