Personally I kind of lean towards the Jrue trade being a bad deal - but I really like it. I'm just a huge fan of the type of player he is that is great defensively, unselfish offensively, and willing to do anything to help the team win. I hate teams that play ISO hero ball and we've had a ton of that over the last dozen years.

But yeah paying him nearly 40 million in 2028 when he's 38 years old - not smart.

Hoping he regains his form from the year prior and its a home run deal. But logically I have to say its not a smart bet.

I think we got more than solid value for Ant and I expect Jrue to be flipped. We're not making an all nba defensive team staple and former all star play where he doesn't want to be.

It seemed like we got him to flip him, then Fischer reported that we're keeping him but I don't believe it. We'll get great value for him.

If thats the case yeah should find out in the next month. Will need to see what teams do with trades in draft/free agency. Used to be the teams that strike out in free agency would be willing to then cough up more in a trade. But now nobody really goes to free agency - so its more just a time to complete a second round of post draft trades.

Will need to see the final version to give it a proper analysis. Interesting first step though, curious to see the second and maybe third act of this theater.

Jrue will be good for the Blazers where it counts: players getting better, team getting better. Is he expensive? Yea, but quality is expensive, and what we want from Jrue (mentorship, bench steadiness, championship experience) you can’t really get from a cheaper player.

We have the final version;

Boston Celtics get:
G Anfernee Simons
Two future second-round picks

Portland Trail Blazers get:
G Jrue Holiday

Now maybe your meaning if there are subsequent deals. Well sure - but are you still grading the Dame trade then? Or does this also impact the grade of the prior Gerald Wallace trades, both the acquisition and subsequent disbursement.

I’m not going to make a decision until I know this is the final trade. Supposedly it won’t be finalized until 7/6 and now there are reports that he doesn’t want to come here.

Dame trade - outgoing;
Dame
Nurk
Little
Ant
Keon

incoming
Deni
Camara
Ayton
Jrue
Timelord
2029 pick (with 1.5 swaps)
2028+2030 swaps

Sounds good. I'm going to start typing up how the Gerald Wallace trade ultimately led to all these players leaving/joining the Blazers. I think I'll be finished typing on Sunday.

I don’t know yet. Wait to make my decision once pre season starts

Quite the indecisive bunch here.

It's as though people are going to write this opinion in stone in their front yard. Or tattoo on their forehead.

Maybe y'all could just think of it as what is your opinion of the trade TODAY.
Then when there is a subsequent trade (we've averaged about one trade a year) it will be safe for you to have a second opinion then.

I promise there won't be any opinion police.

Sharpetriumph -- We can judge the trade anyway we like cause the offseason is just starting so more COULD happen outside of the draft pick so until it happens some want to see what else is coming so they can weigh it all together in deciding if the trade is good in the long run or not.

If the trade is final as reported, I hate it. That simple. He’s too old and he’s being paid too much. I would have rather just let Ant expire.
In the context of what the team is today, I agree with you. Other trades that make us more competitive now could make the trade better or flipping him even if it's after starting the season with him would make... actually better isn't the word, the trade just doesn't make sense as is.

So I'd like to see subsequent moves that make this trade make sense. Jrue for Ant and some second round picks is solid value for us, he just doesn't really fit with our current team in my opinion and according to the most recent reporting in Jrue's opinion too.

I would have thought if we wanted Jrue we would have checked with his agent or reached out to him prior to trading for him. I’m guessing they’ll flip him to a win now team I could honestly see something to Philly, Indy, San Antonio, Minny, Denver, Ny or even Dallas.

no middle ground in the poll options

I like Simons gone....I don't like Jrue's age and the trendline he may be showing that age....I like the possibility of better defense...I don't like Jrue's contract.... I like having a good PG....I don't like the rumors that he's pissed and doesn't want to be in Portland

I guess I'd assess the trade a...meh, leaning to the dark side....C-

and if this is all there is...C--

Trade him back to MIL. I would take Bobby Portis sign and trade and 2 seconds. (Just to get our seconds back.) They need a PG. And they can play him along Dame after he is back.

Ok in version 2 I will have middle ground options and thus 9 poll choices. I had thought 4 was enough.

Yep and I would add that I hate we gave up picks too, especially since we saved Boston money. Seems bad negotiating if you ask me. Would rather use picks and go after another Deni like player that just needs a new team to grow.

I really don’t care that much about second rounders. I think that NIL is gonna render the second round rather meaningless. We have already seen a lot of players drop out of this draft.

I think we might see a dip in how valuable second round picks are because of NIL but four years from right now the second round should be filled with all of the guys that would have been second rounders next year. So NIL won't kill the second round it'll just eventually make it filled with good seniors. I bet next draft and the following couple the second round will be very foreign heavy.
