Don't forget this is largely the same roster that his predecessor (Chow) wanted to dismantle the team & tank for a few years.

Batum, Aldridge and Matthews are the only 3 players left from that team. I wouldn't say that's largely the same. And I imagine those are the only 3 players off of that roster he likely had any interest in keeping around.

I'm not sure how exactly we fault Neil for pursuing Hibbert. At the time he didn't have the benefit of having last season and this season to gauge Hibbert on.

And Hibbert may not have imploded if he came to Portland.

He doesn't seem any worse a player this year than two years ago.
