There are plenty of other superfluous threads on the front page that you can close. What an unnecessary and rude comment from a mod. If you feel this kinda convo is not necessary, you should really reprioritize your thinking.
Agreed. Plus we can't ignore that troll poster.

I voted no, and that they can coexist. I think a big issue as has been stated, is matching salary, and/or having to give talent to get talent. I think Ant is one of our better assets, and if it is a deal that improves talent and fit, then I think he gets moved. I think moving him strictly on positional fit, like for Cam Johnson, where talent might not be equal, is a bad idea.

Not that I necessarily have the right to speak on his behalf, but I've noticed that he likes to suggest in his posts that his response is the definitive one, and generally does so tongue-in-cheek. I don't think he was actually suggesting that the thread shouldn't exist or that conversation shouldn't occur.
His statement stands on its own. The poster having some tongue in cheek hidden meaning is irrelevant since he didn't write that in his response. Any troll or banned poster could claim their post was meant as tongue in cheek, that doesn't excuse the post.

I haven't found that what this forum wants (in general) is realistic or best for the franchise.

Only the wrong people. Who are wrong. And they're usually wrong.

But not me, I'm right.

Rewatch the Utah game when Shaedon started next to Dame. I'm cautious of making too much from one game but those two had a ton of synergy. You underestimate Dame's ability to be a lead guard.

Dame doesn't get enough credit as a distributor.

His biggest flaw is that once he loses faith in his teammates, he tends to start jacking more shots. But I can't really blame him because he has had some really bad teammates over the years.

Part of me says "either Ant or Dame needs to be traded". Another part of me says "If Curry, Thompson and Poole can coexist, why can't Dame, Sharpe and Ant do the same?"

I don't see this franchise moving Ant to an off-the-bench microwave role, but if they got enough quality forwards to make that reasonable, that would certainly be the best way forward.

Warriors has one of the league's highest payroll

Ant's salary is the only issue for me. It is a positive when we are talking about matching salaries. and a negative for coming off the bench. But if you take his salary out of the equation, then no he doe not need to be traded. We absolutely need his scoring off the bench. He can flat-out score in a variety of ways.

And at the end of games when scoring is needed, a Dame, SS, and Ant lineup with two excellent long defenders, would be tough to stop. I don't think Ant or SS has peaked. But again I would want Ant coming off the bench unless Dame is out that game......and Dame will probably be out 20+ games a year.

Having said all that I assume he will be traded, but I would not be upset if we drafted Victor, kept Ant, and traded Nurk's contract, #23, and another 1st for a SF.

Dame really never played with another recent all-star all-nba level player since LA

The biggest question for me is, assuming Cronin successfully makes the roster moves necessary to contend, and if the Blazers get off to a great start, and, finally, given the dynamics of this forum, will Denny have an empty room here?

Yeah, I'm not even talking about payroll--just talking about effectiveness on the court.

And since Sharpe makes about $30M less than Klay, the payroll thing is kinda irrelevant.

I've not been silent on the fact that I dislike Ant. I find him a streaky one-dimensional player that on occasion helps but his absolute lack of defense, streakiness (inconsistency) and the fact that the offense seems to grind down when he pretend-plays "PG", I want him gone.

For what he brings, I find him overpriced. If he was a cheaper, off-the-bench-sparkplug type player, perhaps but as-is; no thank you.

So from my perspective, he HAS to be traded.

There is no reason Cronin shouldn't be able to get good value out of Ant. If he can't do it by the start if next season he might be in over his head.

In this thread we have multiple people saying Ant's contract is bad (I'm not sure I agree) and then others saying we should be able to get good value for him.

If his contract is actually bad, I'm thinking "good value" is going to be a lot less than what people would like, and therefore seen as him not getting good value!

Trade him for what though? That's the big question. If he's overpriced for what he brings (as you've said), what we should expect in return for him should also be underwhelming.

What we will be able to get in return for Ant, I believe, will be staggering low.

Scoring guards are just too easy to come by. They are a dime a dozen.

Start Dame and Shae.

Use Anf as a heater off the bench.

Fair value would be a similarly overpaid and similarly talented player at a position of need.

I understand that much. What players fit that criteria that you would be ok trading Ant for?
??
Atlanta moves up in the draft 4 spots(pending lotto), and sheds a TON of salary, helping their cap picture. Orlando moves down 12 spots and gets a young lead guard to pair with Paolo and Wagner. Portland moves up and adds a starting PF.

Can do the exact deal with Capela instead also.

I think Ant is going to be better than Collins.

Fills a positional need but pretty lateral move talent wise. I like the way we move up in the draft and could see value in doing a subsequent move of it in another move.
