Not quite sure where that pic was taken. It was in my Google pic archives. Thought it was funny, though. May as well have been taken in Portland. Bend has a pretty crazy July 4th dog parade. Y'oughta check it out sometime!
My main interest in dogs died with my beloved Tonto when I was 12. That broke my heart like you wouldn't believe. I must have cried every day for over a month. My mother and my brother cried aloong with me. My father was divorced from my mother and living in Atlanta when it happened.
I remember my dog being in the Veterinary clinic at the West end of the Broadway bridge, I believe on Lovejoy street. I went there on my bike with a friend to visit my sick dog. The doctor was very nice and offered to let me back in the employee only area to visit my dog for as long as I'd like even though it was after closing hours. They must have seen the love between me and my beloved faithful companion. I thought he would get better but he had some sort of urinary tract problem from us feeding him salmon. Don't feed you dogs salmon.
You've never seen a little boy with a heart broken as bad as mine was when he died.

Just got a call from my mom that they had to put Sydney down. 10 year old golden retriever, cancerous lump burst in her lungs and there was nothing they could do. She was a good pup, her tail was always wagging! Even wagged my drink off the table a time or two.

Hate to "like" your post, Brother... but my condolences to you and your family!

R.I.P., Sydney!

RIP Sydney!

May you run in the big dog park in the sky!

My dog often did that. It got to the point where I think he was just doing it so he could lap up the alcohol.
Anyhow, he would lap it clean even licking the inside of the glass clean so I could just put it back on the shelf. So, who's coming to my house for drinks?

No takers?

I'll take your best scotch, neat. Please and thank you!
I've got 12 yr old Chivas Regal and my favorite, 13 yr old Haig and Haig Pinch aka The Dimple Pinch. Both are blends.
I use to have two single malts, both 12 yrs old but I didn't like them so drank them up and never bought any more.

Either sounds perfect. I don't even care if your dog cleaned the glasses with their tongue!

Shit no, I would never allow that. In fact, I don't even own a dog. Haven't had one for 60 years. Didn't want to subject the dog to city life and all it's restrictions. When I was a boy, my dog was pretty free to go wherever he wanted and that virtually always wherever I went. My dog even went to school with me. He'd put his paws up on the waist high wall and peer in the window wanting to see me.
I'd be overjoyed to have anyone come over for some of my food and drink except for this God Damned virus. Was that too earthy? My dad was a construction worker from rural Alabama and I worked with him a couple of years also I was in the Army. In addition you should hear the earthy talk in college. It would curl my grandmother's toes.I've got other good liquor as well as some nice beers. I use to have a great wine collection of about 80 bottles but since I don't drink like I use to I've been using it up and I'll bet I'm down to two dozen or so.

Dogs to blame for COVID-19? No way, says new study
The study is published in Molecular Biology and Evolution.
AURORA, Colo. — Rest easy, dog lovers. Our beloved canine companions aren’t responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, new research shows.

A study from earlier this year claims the SARS-CoV-2 virus made the jump to humans via dogs. Now, a new collaborative project involving a team of researchers from all over the world is challenging that hypothesis and calling the original study “scientifically flawed.”
“During this time of COVID-19 we are seeing people publish things that make wild leaps to conclusions that are not justified by the evidence,” says David Pollock, PhD, professor of biochemistry and molecular genetics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, in a release. “And this seems to be one of them.”

Not gonna post cute dog pictures or memes (sorry Sly) but I just have to say that I don’t know how anyone could survive the lockdown for any length of time without a dog (or a cat.....amazing how many folks I’ve seen walking their cats during this thing). The dog gets us out of the house and walking, she keeps up entertained and amused, and she’s someone reasonable to react with when the significant other goes off the deep end temporarily. She has made this bullshit almost bearable. God bless dogs! I just had to get that out there.......
