I saw this behemoth while I was out working today. Chocolate lab. The owner claimed he weighs upwards of 200 lbs. Fattest dog I've ever seen. He was awesome though. I almost felt bad asking the owner for a picture, like I was fat shaming or something.

I love black labs.

A 9-year-old rescue dog named "Spuds" rescued his family from an alleged intrusion at their Pennsylvania home by attacking the man and helping restrain him until police arrived.

The pitbull's owner, Leroy Rucker, said, "Spuds is a protector."

On March 24, Spud proved his love for his owner by protecting them from the alleged trespasser.

"I was just sitting in here watching TV and YouTube with the dogs like I always do," Rucker recalled to Fox 8 in a recent interview.

That's when 53-year-old Robert Burke Jr. allegedly came bursting through the door. The owners and their beloved dog, Spud, quickly jumped to action.

"He wasn't going to just walk in my house uninvited." Rucker told Fox 8 adding, "He sees me fighting, he wants to fight."

Spuds, the 9-year-old pit bull, defended his family from an unwanted intruder (Fox 8)

Rucker said Spuds helped restrain the man for 20 minutes until law enforcement arrived.

According to court documents, Burke is being arraigned to Blair County Prison on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault and harassment. His next court date is scheduled for May 13 with $50,000 bail.

"For them, it’s protection. For me, its love," Rucker told Fox 8.

A Goldendoodle by the name of Gus swam into the St. Croix River and rescued a baby otter from frigid waters. The grandchildren of Gus’s owner Ella and Lucy Hammerstrand share his heroic tale with FOX Weather Wild.

If you thought dogs were only a man’s best friend, think again. A Goldendoodle named Gus became a baby otter’s best friend this past Easter.

Six-year-old Gus, who lost one of his legs due to cancer, had no problems making a swim on three legs and rescuing an otter pup from the frigid St. Croix River in Minnesota.

"Well, our whole family was here on Easter Sunday for Easter dinner, and we took the dogs out. And Gus being Gus, he goes straight to the river," Ella Hammerstrand, grandchild of Gus’s owner, said.

Gus faced tough weather conditions out on the river, but clearly the hero dog was on a mission to help another animal in need.

"There were whitecaps on the river, so the water was a little choppy, and it was his first time waiting and, you know, off to his belly with three legs," Hammerstrand said. "So we were watching him closely, but he was swimming and eventually, he just ran up the bank with a baby otter in his mouth and plopped it right at our feet."

Once the otter was out of the freezing water, Ella and her sister Lucy Hammerstrand brought the baby otter inside their home.

According to Ella, the animal is recovering and is thought to be okay.

"He’s doing well. We heard that he’s been transported to a different facility that has more pills for him. The first 36 hours, they were watching him real closely in an incubator just to make sure he didn’t get pneumonia. Make sure there wasn’t any water in his lungs and keep them warm."

Before the Easter rescue, Gus was already considered a hero.

"Before this, he found a neighborhood dog in a hole and wouldn’t leave its side for a week before we came over and helped them," Hammerstrand said.

The Goldendoodle is still undergoing chemo treatment, but Lucy Hammerstrand says Gus hasn’t slowed down.

"As far as we’re concerned, he’s back to his old self, and he can run and swim," Hammerstrand said.

I had to put my old girl down a couple of weeks ago due to advanced heart failure. Broke my heart, and I said I wasn't going to do this again for a while. Welp, a few nights ago I got a call
from a friend in Portland to tell me about an American Bulldog that was really in need of a home where she would get some much needed attention, exercise etc. I said no, I'm not ready for another dog yet,
this is just too soon. Hung up and then them called them back 5 minutes later, "You have any pictures"? Long story short, Layla arrived yesterday, 5 yrs old, very affectionate and just wants some
body to love her. Other than rabies, she hasn't had any booster vax since her puppy series, so she's restricted to the yard until she gets caught up on them and probably a couple of weeks after
for them to take effect.They talk about velcro dogs, this is more like a super glue dog I haven't been able to get more than 10 feet away from her since we got home.
What's the point of this post, you might ask?

I did post her on r/americanbullies last night, and I'll post her there and r/bulldogs later today. She can't go for walks yet until she's boostered, but I just gave her the motor tour of the town. Pointed out some squirrel
hot spots, and she got to meet a few people. She loves people, especially kids. She's really well-mannered and minds well considering where and what she came from. I'm really happy with her!
