Don't count out Olshey (lebron)

James would probably prefer the 5 year max, and Lin/Asik in a trade would clear up the space.

That's was my point, though as RR points out, LBJ can only receive the 5-year max from Miami.

I'll give Olshey credit if he can score another meeting, but LBJ actually coming to Portland has a snowball's chance in hell of happening.

I think all the talk about being able to trade Lin and Asik w/o taking on any salary is total BS on Houston's part. Not only are their final years extremely overpaid, both players' stock took a hit with their mediocre performance in the playoffs.

In regards to signing him, if we started him out at 20 per year, we could theoretically dump Wesley and our bench minus Robinson and Barton to teams with cap space, sign him, then have t fill in with minimum salary guys.
Last season, GS was able to dump roughly 20 million in salary to Utah by offering up a 2014 first and a 2017 first, as well as 2 2nds. We'd be able to offer up CJ, Leonard, Crabbe in replacement for those, but can also offer a future pick as enticement.
Anyways, not going to happen, but it'd be possible to clear the space, IMO, if we needed to.

Houston could offer him 4 years and 86 million without needing to do a sign and trade with Miami if they can find takers for Lin and Asik.

LeBron just goes to teams with stars to win tittles. He has never won anything with a team starting from the ground up. As soon as that team shows they can't get over the hump he jumps ship. Now there's a team player for you.

If there is one guy who can get tittles, it's probably Lebron James.

He is also a ducks fan as well as big fan of the city of Portland... to bad none of this matters because there is no chance in hell he goes from extremely sunny all year long to Portland fickle weather. Stop getting my hopes up with posts like these!

he also really likes lillard. even took part in his 4 bar friday! but seriously, name a better trio out there than lillard, aldridge and lebron? home of nike. best fans in the league. Allens pockets can give him something on the side. Olshey wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't try. If he tried with the crappy Clippers, why WOULDNT he try with a team that would instantly be an elite team with lebron? If Lebron really wants to win, Portland is the best option if you ask me. Even in the west. F houston. Harden and Howard isn't as good of a fit for Lebron both on and off the court. Aldridge and Lillard are unselfish players who space the court. Stotts system would fit LeBron to a T

You don't see a player like Kobe jumping ship on the Lakers.

Uh, that's because they put a guy named Shaq next to him. A bit better I would say than Zydrunas Ilgauskas or Antwan Jamison.

In other news, to anybody who thinks LeBron would come here - whatcha' smokin? I want some of that! Except that it seems laced with ecstasy, so I guess I am out, as is LeBron.

He'd never come here, but he's such a big name, and he makes so much money off of his shoe deal/other sponscerships, does market even really matter for him? He could play in Utah or Milwaukee and he'd still be the most popular player and on ESPN constantly. It's a shame this isn't the NFL where we'd have a chance.

I think we have a chance. A real small one. But maybe we have a chance. If we can get a meeting with him, who knows.

Lebron will come to Portland!

Once a year if he's in the Eastern Conference, more if he's in the Western Conference.

I just think its funny how NO ONE in the media is even mentioning Portland. It's not like Houston is that much more appealing or realistic. Portland could just as easily make it work financially as houston if Lebron was set on Portland. And from a basketball and city standpoint, how is Houston more appealing than Portland? (Dont even bring up the no tax thing, thats ridiculous.)

I think Lebron will come to Ptd . . . . . .on his way to Beaverton to meet with Phil at the Nike Campus.

With Lebron you have to think outside the box if you want him to play with the Blazers . . .move the team to Seattle and convince him he can become King of the West. Seattle might be a big enough city that he will play for the Seattle Blazers.

Olshey went after Hibbert. Everyone knew we didn't really have a chance but he was aggressive and tried anyway. Hibbert was reportedly blown away by his presentation and was ready to come to the Blazers. I'm just saying...dont understimate that man!

I hope he can at least get a meeting with him, forcing ESPN to talk about us. That would be hilarious.

Houston can clear cap space around 19 million in fact to sign Lebron outright. Giving them a core of Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James, and Howard easily the best starting 5 in basketball. Aside from not needing to have Miami agree to a sign and trade they have no income tax so Lebron gets to keep his 19 million.

Portland could come up with enough money as well if they could find someone to take Matthews, Robinson, Freeland, Wright, McCollum, Leonard and Claver. That is 7 players they would have to deal and while Matthews, Robinson and McCollum would likely be easy it would take extra assets to get rid of Freeland, Wright, Leonard and Claver.

Portland would have zero seconds (already gone from last summer) likely lose 2 firsts, and would have a bench of Crabbe and Barton.

Plus I am not certain that a lineup of Lillard, Batum, James, Aldridge and Lopez is better than Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James and Howard.

All that is likely why you have not heard Portland seriously mentioned in the Lebron stakes

Please don't confuse us with facts!!!

Define "can". Isn't this assuming that some other team is stupid enough to pay BOTH Lin and Asik a full $15 MILLION EACH this season?

You want to start the "Don't count out Olshey (asik/lin)" thread or shall I?

What we don't know is that Paul Allen has his own teleporter and will let LeBron use it so he can live in Miami (or somewhere hot where they won't suddenly all hate him) but play in Portland.

I wonder if Houston really is attractive. We made them look pretty bad, Harden has proven he folds like a cheap suit under pressure and nobody liked Dwight Howard before the whole underage girl stuff.

Somebody mentioned Atlanta going for it. They'd be interesting, if only because players seem to love the city (it's certainly hot) and maybe, just maybe, fans might show up if they had LeBron. Would they be able to clear space for BOTH James and Carmelo?
