Don't count out Olshey (lebron)

Sign and trade would work for Lebron if portland traded batum, mccollum and leonard no?

as for basketball reasons, howard hogs the paint. harden hogs the ball. I would much rather play with Lillard and Aldridge. We did beat them didnt we? Imagine LeBron in Stotts ball movement system. It's perfect. Houstons system just consists of ISOs. McHale has nothing on Stotts.

I'd say Chicago is a much better fit than Houston too. Doubt he would go there though, for obvious reasons

Houston can clear cap space around 19 million in fact to sign Lebron outright. Giving them a core of Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James, and Howard easily the best starting 5 in basketball. Aside from not needing to have Miami agree to a sign and trade they have no income tax so Lebron gets to keep his 19 million.

Portland could come up with enough money as well if they could find someone to take Matthews, Robinson, Freeland, Wright, McCollum, Leonard and Claver. That is 7 players they would have to deal and while Matthews, Robinson and McCollum would likely be easy it would take extra assets to get rid of Freeland, Wright, Leonard and Claver.

Portland would have zero seconds (already gone from last summer) likely lose 2 firsts, and would have a bench of Crabbe and Barton.

Plus I am not certain that a lineup of Lillard, Batum, James, Aldridge and Lopez is better than Beverly, Harden, Parsons, James and Howard.

All that is likely why you have not heard Portland seriously mentioned in the Lebron stakes

All this is just talk because lebron won't pick Ptd, but:

If Ptd wanted to clear enough cap space to get Lebron, I'm guessing it would start with Nic because it is the biggest contract (besides LA) and Lebron plays SF.

So starting there, would Nic, Robinson and Wright create enough cap space to sign Lebron?

I can think of a half a dozen good reasons for him to come to Portland.
Unfortunately, I can think of several dozen reasons for him to go elsewhere.

He'd never come here, but he's such a big name, and he makes so much money off of his shoe deal/other sponscerships, does market even really matter for him? He could play in Utah or Milwaukee and he'd still be the most popular player and on ESPN constantly. It's a shame this isn't the NFL where we'd have a chance.

The problem with him playing in a Salt Lake or a Portland is that he quite literally would never be able to out in public without being swarmed. He'd be by far the biggest celebrity to ever hit Portland or Salt Lake. He may as well stay in Miami, where celebrities are around all the time.

You don't see a player like Kobe jumping ship on the Lakers.
are you forgeting the trade demand where he tried to force himself out and would have if the Lakers hadnt been gifted Gasol in, at the time, one of the most lopsided trades for a star ever.

Send the LTrain and DLill out on Paul Allen's private jet and let's see if they can woo him to Rip City. They were fairly confident after the all star break they could get big time players to come play with them. Give them the opportunity and resources to do just that.

On a side note, the only way this works is with Nic on the way out. So when this plan breaks down they need to have a plan in place to reel Nic back in. I'm anticipating hurt feelings.

Define "can". Isn't this assuming that some other team is stupid enough to pay BOTH Lin and Asik a full $15 MILLION EACH this season?

Technically they could offer 3 million in cash to offset some of that pay for one of them. They could also sweeten the deal by offering a first round pick. Plus both only count for 8.5 million on the cap. So for nothing you can get a valuable expiring contract, cash and/or a first round pick. If available Houston will find suitors for both.

I'd imagine the plans goes something like "Hey remember when you told Minnesota, you really want to play there? Let's call this even."

Just tell him that Lebron, Lamarcus and Lillard all start with L, unless you're willing to change your name to Lick Latum you don't really fit in.

But that was back when we sucked bruh. Even you wanted out. What you did, well you broke a brotherhood. After what we went through last season, how could you?-Nic

As much as I want to hate the idea of LeBron playing for Portland... as much as I think he's a jerk and a douche... I kinda want it to happen just to see the chaos.

Canzano's first article would be about how we still won't make the finals while San Antonio's intact because how could the Blazers be as good as the Heat were? And if we are better, then not winning the title is a disappointment!

Lebron looks pretty good in black white and red guys...

Vegas is so twisted, you can bet on anything . . . I love that place!

The Vegas odds have been released courtesy of RJ Bell, founder of pregame.com. Miami remains the favorite, with a return to Cleveland as the next most likely option for the game's most dominant player.

My money is on LA

The London books had a proposition bet that Luis Suarez would bite someone at the World Cup at 175-1. A $100 on that would have been nice.

LeBron comes to PDX

You guys ready for the Blazers to be the most hated tam in the NBA?

The constant critics?

Every movement overanalyzed by ESPN, FOX, twitter, etc?

I'll fall on that grenade

To live in Portland or Salt Lake, not visit.

Those were great times. Most transparent administration, Hope and Change, Bush Sucks ... that was the life America bought into, and Obama was going to heal all of us. Now only the far left love that guy. What a waste of what should have been a uniting moment for this country. Instead, it's been nothing but the 1% ruining things (even though they donate to Obama), Teabaggers are racists, Trayvon Martin, Cambridge PD acting stupidly, etc. etc.

I wonder if Lebron opting out would give us a leg up in pursuing Deng? On one hand, more teams may clear cap space but, on the other, many will be so busy pursuing Lebron and Carmelo that guys like Deng and Ariza may be more available early on.
