I wonder if Lebron opting out would give us a leg up in pursuing Deng? On one hand, more teams may clear cap space but, on the other, many will be so busy pursuing Lebron and Carmelo that guys like Deng and Ariza may be more available early on.

Too often, those guys wait until the big pieces drop. Their agents are usually smart enough to have Lebron sign, and then let someone who cleared space for a SF overpay for their client.

I hope a team does to Houston what Minny did to us. Offer Parson a fat contract on July 1. Houston has to match or let him go. If they match they burn salary cap space if I understand it right.

Right now Houston wants to get salary cap, sign Melo (or Lebron), then match to keep Parsons.

THey presumably have an idea of what they'd do with Asik and Lin to get them off their books, so if Parsons receives an offer he actually signs day 1, they talk to Lebron and Carmelo, if they want to come, they execute their trades, sign James, match on Parsons.

PA should just offer to give Lebron his Octopus yacht if he signs here. He can live on that thing and wouldn't have to live in Portland.

The problem with him playing in a Salt Lake or a Portland is that he quite literally would never be able to out in public without being swarmed. He'd be by far the biggest celebrity to ever hit Portland or Salt Lake. He may as well stay in Miami, where celebrities are around all the time.

Would feed the ego perfectly. Good pitch.

The number one reason why he would not select a market like SLC or Portland is the reason why LA's representatives were once trying to get moved to a larger market. Endorsements. In LeBrons case the loss he would take.

Now I've really lost it. Checked lebrons twitter and who he follows. He only follows around 200 ppl and Lillard and aldridge are both on the list (so is dorell but that's not significant). What if lebron was really one of the guys that told those two he'd want to go play with them in Portland?

Talk shows all day long we're saying the opposite. That he is the one player in all of sports that transcends a small market. He makes his money regardless.

No Mo after Mo got butthurt when Lebron left Cleveland?

Kevin Durant seems to be doing fine on endorsements (not sure of how much $$$ he is making, but dude is in a lot of stuff) in OKC

LeBron is an international brand. Doesn't matter where he plays, he is going to get all kinds of endorsements. He doesn't need to worry about getting gigs pitching for suburban Portland car dealerships.

He can host Saturday morning cartoons. Rambling Bron.

He could show that video of Jordan thanking Portland for not drafting him and tell MJ to suck it after the Blazers sweep the finals.

Nope lol. Man until LeBron officially signs somewhere I'm going to keep hope alive. Don't care what the media tells me. I see the perfect fit.

It's the truth. Lebron wouldn't even need basketball anymore... Endorsements are his profession, this basketball is something on the side - money wise.

It's why I laugh when people question why in the world lebron would take a paycut to go somewhere else. He's going to be a billionaire one day..and not from his basketball earnings.

Anyone ever see Chris bosh on commercials? Why do I see Durant from okc more than I see carmelo from ny? Why don't I see anyone from the nets? I think this sort of thinking made sense in a localized sort of world 25 years ago or so. Now, guys are going to make so much nationally, anything local is a pittance.

The big markets give big local advertisements. The biggest LA has gotten in Portland was reported as 125k for some car commercial. Lee was rumored to get a multi million deal for a local advertisement when he was in NY.

It'd be interesting to see the total amount he received in endorsements in Cleveland vs. Miami.

He became the most hated athlete in America with that move.

I heard about this Damian Lillard guy who plays for Portland. Supposedly got a pretty good shoe deal.

USA Today said:
When it comes to the business of basketball and one man's brand, no one has won in these playoffs quite like the Blazers' second-year point guard whose Adidas deal is believed to be the third largest in the entire NBA. The contract – which his agent, Aaron Goodwin of Goodwin Sports Management, told USA TODAY Sports could be "well over $100 million" with very-reachable incentives and is expected to eventually include a signature shoe and apparel – was seen by some as a head-spinner when it was first revealed on April 14.
Imagine.

For guys like Lebron and Lillard, basketball prowess is the path to endorsement money. Their basketball salary is chump change.

Welcome to Portland Lebron. You'll like it here.

I highly doubt some local car company or what not is paying 2 million plus for David Lee to advertise for them.

It wasn't car companies with Lee, it was Vitamin Water and Right Guard. Lee was actually a big name when he was in New York.

Oden goes to Miami.

Lebron goes to Portland.

Can't wait!

If he think South Beach is the shit, just wait until he discovers McMinnville.
