Tell that to your hero Trump. He refuses to separate the two issues.
As do you. You probably have more in common with Trump than the average conservative, judging by your short and poorly thought out responses. Get a Twitter account and you're all set.

The difference is we spend a hell of a lot more than $21 billion to patrol the sea to keep out foreign invaders.

The wall on our south border will be the most cost-effective invasion deterrent anywhere in America.

According to Trump, border crossings have been reduced 61% last year without a wall. Was he lying? Are you claiming if the wall was built then there would be no reason to spend money on patrolling our waters?

Once again, another lie by you. Another thing you have in common with Trump. I am all for DACA. Not the wall. I say separate the issues and let's see what happens, but your hero won't. Do you know why?

Please elaborate.

Sure thing.

nei·ther
ˈnēT͟Hər,ˈnīT͟Hər/
determiner & pronoun
  • not the one nor the other of two people or things; not either.
  • "neither side of the brain is dominant over the other"
adverb
1. Used before the first of two (or occasionally more) alternatives that are being specified (the others being introduced by “nor”) to indicate that they are each untrue or each do not happen.

"I am neither a liberal nor a conservative"

2. used to introduce a further negative statement. Ex: "he didn't remember, and neither did I"

Are:
är,ər/
2nd person singular present and 1st, 2nd, 3rd person plural present of be.

Mexican(s):

Mex·i·can
ˈmeksək(ə)n/
noun
plural noun: Mexicans
a native or inhabitant of Mexico, or a person of Mexican descent.
"urban scenes depicting the daily life of Mexicans"

Did that help?

In regards to Mexico paying for the wall, it was never intended to be in a literal sense. Like we're going to build a wall then send Mexico a giant cartoonish invoice that says PLEASE PAY THIS AMOUNT. That is just another obnoxious caracature that was essentially made up, then applied to anyone who agrees with Trump's stance on border security. When the original comment was made, Trump basically said the cost of the wall would be offset by the amount Mexico loses when we change our trade agreements with them. Now whether that is true or not is perfectly debatable, but the out of context interpretations of the original comment seem to be nothing more than redundant talking points.

Mexico would “pay for the wall” because of how much money they lose when we change our trade agreements? When is this going to happen?

Who knows, probably never. I wasn't defending the idea, I was just saying that it was the intent behind the "make Mexico pay for it" comment. He wasn't saying we were going to hold the mexican president upside down by his ankles and shake the change out of his pockets, he was just suggesting there are ways to offset the cost. Who knows if any of it will happen. Trump talks shit, we all know that.

My hero? You realize you sound like a total dipshit when you say things like this, right? You are literally incapable of thinking outside of any "us vs. them" narrative. Anyone who disagrees with you MUST be in love with Donald Trump. There's just no other way, or at least not one your willing to attempt wrapping your head around. All of your responses are just slightly dressed up versions of "I know you are but what am I?"

some credit for trying to secure our borders.
If people from a couple blocks over started to take over your property (fence issues count) home and bogged your neighborhood down, if you were honest, you'd want some kind of control and management over it, especially if they were stealing your vegetables form your garden, gas out of your tank, etc.

This nimrod is the only Pres I can remember and Im an old fart that has the balls to take on all sides to protect our sovereign border.
If you enter Mexico illegally 1st time 5 years, second time 10 years in the Holiday Inn.

The guard going down there to help i any way makes a whole lot of since bet I'd bet our Governor won't help at all.

This happened to me. I came home one day and my neighbor had moved his fence 1 1/2' over into my yard. He said he had every right to do so even though because of a surveyor's error 35 years ago. It turns out that since I had no idea of where the property line was and was never informed that the fence line was not the correct property line, he felt he could just encroach without telling me anything about it. I would have let it go as just an exptremely rude neighbor but he kept saying that my 30 year old grape vines were intertwined on his fence and that I had to remove them. I felt like if he didn't like my grapes on his fence he could remove them on his side himself. That is the law. He threatened to take us to court and had my wife in near tears as she tried to tend to our nearby vegetable garden. I went to a lawyer. The lawyer told me about an Adverse Possession law in Oregon that made the property mine after ten years. Technically it was my property 25 years earlier. I cared for it, fertilized it, pulled all the weeds by hand and watered it so it was lush and green. When I was gone, he hopped the fence and cut my grape bush down to the bare earth.

My lawyer told me that it would take a year to sue him and that I would have to foot my entire legal bill. My Ranger buddy next door was ready to hop the fence and beat the shit out of him. It took a lot of talking for me to get him defused enough to stop that idea.

I would have absorbed the cost with glee just to beat his ass in court but I got a chance to buy this beautiful house in Lake Oswego. So, I just moved and relinquished my claim.

The guy who bought my house was an ex Airborne guy. When I told him the story, he also wanted to beat the holy crap out of this jerk.

All the neighbors around me and on my street hate this creep. No, I had nothing to do with it other than to answer questions directly asked. Now, his kids are having a tough time in school because the children of my neighbors took the story to school and no, I had nothing to do with that. I would never do that to a child.

Sorry to go on but this is the first opportunity to tell my story in the 2 1/2 years since I moved.

You had to meet this guy to know what a creep he is.

Anyhow, nobody but nobody threatens my wife.

Oh, he also shoved my 50 year old niece onto the ground and into some blackberry vines. I was in the shower and missed it. My Ranger buddy came home from work, heard the story from his wife, and had to be physically restrained from doing my creep some serious harm.

Whoa there, that looks like a serious personal insult, certainly not on par with anything you suffered.

> Trump entered an isolationist approach with our Southerly neighbors by furthering his wall ideas. People are crafty. They can avoid a wall all together.
>> The direction we should have taken is to set up factory zones on the border under the same terms as the Chinese model. The labor is there and the goods would be easy transport through the wealthy trucking industries of Mexico and the US.

I had a friend who worked as an electronics engineer on smart batteries. The company moved production of some of their batteries to Mexico where he had to travel to periodically. Eventual they moved lock, stock and barrel there. I guess that all got worked out as part of the settling in of NAFTA.

Last I heard Learjet was building in Mexico.

I'm a land surveyor and have dealt with so many of these situations. It's amazing how grown adults turn into kindergartners incapable of sharing when THEIR property is being "encroached" on. They will shit a brick over an inch. I've stood between two land owners and had them try to make me fudge numbers in their favor. I was setting t-posts along a property line once and actually had a guy ask me which neighbor owned more of each post. One lady found out the bridge she built was on both sides of the property line, and proclaimed she was going to just tear the bridge down, rather than share access with the new neighbors whom she'd never even met. Her husband just shook his head. People are greedier than little piggies.

My son and his girlfriend just went through the same thing with a neighbor as about a year after they purchased a house the neighbor came over and started whining that their fence (which was already installed when they purchased the house) was on his property and wanted 3 feet of their property. After trying to calmly discuss it even though the clown was very belligerent they conceded and allowed him to build a fence. My son and girlfriend then spent some big bucks on backyard landscaping and he complained that a part of a plant was touching his fence. This guy is nothing but a whiner. He's also the type that parks his car on the street (there are no driveways) right on the edge of the property line every time. Of course when I go over I try and intentionally park across the line, lol.

Great post, but Kate Brown will have no say if the National Guard is sent to secure our borders. The issue was pushed by Bush I, Bill Clinton and Bush II, but fully implemented by Obama's 2012 National Defense Authorization Act on Dec. 31, 2011 when it included promotion of the National Guard"s senior officer to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Commandant's are fully directed by the President > Sec. of Defense> Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Thats good to know!
[I'm going to assume that this post isn't Onion-esque satire.]
Trump is "trying" to secure "our" borders about as hard and effectively as conservatives try to reduce abortions. It's just not in their political interest.

Although, he has managed to drastically reduce tourism (as well as killing universities' overseas student recruitment efforts), by trying his damnest to makethe US into an unwelcoming backwards shithole - so does that count?
LMAO...reduce tourism, foreign student recruitment efforts, making the US of America a shit hole!
What corner are you hanging out on, today?

Maybe I’m missing something, but using guard troops, who we are paying regardless, to actually do something...I have zero outrage over this.

That said, just vet them, and let them in. All of them. The dakotas are fucking empty as shit.

I'm not sure that's correct. Don't we pay the Nat. Guard less than full time salaries unless they get sent off somewhere where they can't work their day jobs anymore?

barfo

I don't agree with letting everyone in or using the National Guard on the border but I liked your post because it is a different take at least.

Its to bad the numbers are down. Im looking for a good balance in everything. Some good some bad.
We are still the very best country on the face of the Earth to live in, work in, raise a family in, retire in! Why do so many foreigners want to come here to live besides all the free support.
Ill never forget my son was going to UofO and I met with his enrollment councilor is sophomore year to see if he could get any tuition assistance from some Federal program beside the low interest loan.
He said I made to much money and if my son was from a low income family or an immigrant he would be able to get way more assistance and possibly free tuition.
I asked him if that would include illegal immigrants headless of where they came form and he said they get very good assistance and even in some cases free gratis.
Again Im a libertarian that advocates small government, fiscal responsibility and moderate with social issues, but that discussion left a bad taste in my mouth.

The answer here is simple, just give CA back to Mexico. Im sure they would be happy with the 5th largest economy in the world and wouldn't care if most of LA anymore is a shit hole to live in or visit. I can say that because I've lived there. Its true!

I agree. But I also think Trump is doing just fine. It even pleases me to see some of these left tilted guys whine. But it is only a year now, before long, perhaps they will wear down to a inaudible drone. I don't think they can sustain the whine.

Interesting strategy on making America great again. I guess this would force other states to step up their federal tax contributions to make up for the new shortfall. Since we are jettisoning shitholes, Im sure we can add a few others to the list that are holding us back. We are going to be so great soon.

What a bunch of hooey.

Illegal immigration from the border was not much of a problem until Trump needed a campaign issue.

Most illegal immigrants fly in and overstay their visa.

I agree, there will be a whine a year from now, but it will be you on the right crying about how Trump got drummed out of office. At what point will you apologize to the rest of us for thrusting this buffoon upon us?

No idea, an even better idea would be to have all the troops stationed in Germany come back and do it instead.

Hey! Come vist the MarAzul this coming week. I will show you what about 60,000 thousand of them look like all in one once small town.

Shit, I don't know you but even I wanna kick his ass!

If I go over there for a visit, I'm going to invite you to come along. We could start a mob and scare the holy hell out of him. I envision pitch forks and torches.

Honestly, first, if he had just come to me first, I would have helped him relocate the fence. I love being a friendly neighbor. Secondly, if he had refrained from saying anything to my wife and saved it to unload on me, I would have taken a ton of abuse without responding negatively. But, when ANYONE threatens my wife, they've got big time trouble. I even drove parallel to a large truck on the freeway and shook my fist at him in real anger because he was tailgating an obviously defenseless lady whom he deemed was moving too slow, although it she was doing 55 in a 55 zone. He backed off.

I don't take to people bullying anyone.

Actually, I think this would have to be run as a NORTHCOM operation, which means JCS doesn't get a vote. Chain of Command goes from NCA (CinC/SECDEF) to the COCOM.
