<{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Well sometimes injuries happen. That year that Detroit beat the Lakers, Malone had that bad knee injury, and no one expected Detroit to be the champs.
Maybe the Nets could beat Detroit if there was a Chauncy & Rasheed injury.</div>
Malone being injured wasn't why the Pistons won they out played the Lakers. Simple and Plain. Injuries happen but if your counting on injuries instead of talent it already shows the state of this team

I think part of it is that Detroit outplayed the Lakers, but Malone being injured definitely hurt, they didn't have much depth behind Malone.
Another example is Miami vs. Detroit, it went to 7 games and Shaq had that deep thigh contusion, and Wade had a strained rib or something, and since they weren't healthy they lost.
Another example is Phoenix vs. San Antonio, when Joe Johnson was injured for most (or was it all) of the series, which clearly affected their ability to compete with San Antonio, because Joe Johnson was playing like 40 mpg, and did for the entire season, and his backup was pretty bad. I think it was Eddie House or something.
My point is that any team can have injuries, and sway the odds of who is going to win.
