So I've been looking to buy a place in Vegas. Chances are their economy is going to get creamed now and their housing market should fall off a cliff.

When do you think the time to buy would be?

Sometime in the future. I don't see any evidence that housing prices have dropped substantially yet.

Defiant bar owners ignore governors' orders to close and insist they'll stay open 'to make a living' as they risk arrest, having their food and liquor licenses revoked and daily $500 fines
  • Ed Gallek was caught serving patrons with his Shamrock Inn, Ohio open for more business Tuesday, St Patrick's Day, and said that he's 'trying to make a living'
  • Lake County Health Department, they said they would first send police to the venue to warn Galleck
  • Queen City Lounge, Ohio was found to have a sign in the window saying 'members only' and was offering drinkings and a sit-down buffet for 40 people
  • It is now padlocked and barricaded shut. Their liquor and food license could be removed and the person responsible was detained
  • Places in Oregon and Illinois vowed to stay open until police shut them down
  • Punishment varies from state to state and in New York staff could be arrested

Depends on the death rate and age bracket you're shopping for. You should be able to get a nice deal on senior living in a couple of months.

Nah, the economy will take a huge hit there in all likelihood. Talking $200k, 2500 sq ft houses built within the last 5 years.

In California gun stores stayed open in defiance of order. Why am I not surprised?

So you're saying there's a silver lining in all this.

I'm gonna stock up on houses once they start hitting Detroit level prices.

I really wouldn't call taking advantage people's suffering, despair and need to firesale their houses a silver lining. But, my plan was to eventually get a house in Vegas, and in the next 12-18 months, I'm guessing a 30% price reduction if the economy goes bad.

As the economy tanks, online retailers need to make up their sales.

Lots of sales going on. Nordstrom has 25% off pretty much everything except higher end european designers.

The only thing people are buying is consumer staples. Walmart, Costco, kroger

I'm buying a new robe and some cologne yo.

Even their cologne is 25% off....shit like Creed is on sale too. Mephistos all 25% off. This is nuts.

There's not much I need or want but maybe ill look around. I'm dipping back in the market, cautiously.

If there's a $1,000 TrumpBucks, I'll probably buy some bitcoin.

sure. But spending money and talking about spending money are two different things

Deals to be had. This is a thread about the economy, money, market effects of the Coronavirus.

It will be a new normal, as much retail is shuttered and changed to online for the foreseeable future. Deals to be had.

Also, you could probably hire unemployed/temporarily laid off people under the table if you need something done. Cash is king!

I saw that Powells laid off their whole staff. Places like that could very well shutter for good.

Not sure about the rest but most airlines were already hurting.
I heard differently. I heard that airlines were having their best year ever when the virus hit. I also heard that they were plowing their profits into buying back their stock. I don't think they're hurting.

They were killing it with basic economy and luggage fees. Turning the airplanes into flying busses.

Yea fucking American Airlines charged me $60 for my bags on my Mexico trip each way, even though I got their stupid credit card just for the baggage fee on that trip. Apparently the card only gives you free bags on domestic flights, almost every other airline gives free bags on international flights without having their card. Such a rip off hidden fee. Everyone one of their planes, except one, that I flew on was a flying dumpster also.

Just remember two things:
1. Don't wear fragrance around hospitals or people who don't like it and don't wear it too heavy;
2. Don't wear it around people with asthma or hay fever.
Do wear it around certain women who are the type that like it.
