Got the wrong Kessler but I have seen him play and slow and not as quick off his feet as Williams. Still like Williams better

Kessler’s reads and timing are vastly superior.

There’s a reason why his blk% nearly doubles Mark’s.

Kessler is the better prospect.

DBPM:

Kessler — 8.0
Williams — 4.8

Is this a prediction, rumor or did someone just report it happening?
prediction. With Josh Kroenke totally in charge now, i think he'd love to get out of the MPJ deal. Barton is an expiring, and the Pacers want to rebuild and drop cap. But the upside of MPJ might be alluring to them.

better college player doesn't necessarily = better prospect. Williams is a much better athlete and projects better in the NBA than Kessler

Williams would be a nice backup to Nurk.

Neither of them do much for me. If we're missing out on Duren, I'd rather get the cheapest of those 2 & Koloko...

yeah im not a huge fan of either one. Id take Williams in the second half of the first though, while I wouldnt take Kessler in the first at all.

When i look at Mark Williams i see Ben Wallace. Great body, quick leaper. Kessler, i see Jakob Poetl. It's all about defense with these two. Whatever they give on offense, great.

Actually all this Thybulle stuff is probably not possible for Portland. We are 2.3mil below the luxury tax threshold for this season so taking on his contract without sending anything back would mean no payment for Jody from the tax paying teams. Its the kinda penny pinching move I'm sure she and Bert would insist on.
Taxes are based on the last day of the regular season.
Any trades right now don't matter for the '21-'22 season.

I smell some kind of trade with hornets who have the 13th and 15th pick.

Interesting there are alot of sons of former stars in this draft that aren't good enough to likely get drafted. Shareef O'Neal, Scotty Pippen Jr, Ron Harper Jr.

Thybulle very good defender but big offensive liability
No doubt. But through only three years, he’s 2x All-Defensive 2nd team. I think if you want to continue with a youth movement while also competing in Dame’s prime, you grab “young” guys (he’s still 25) who has made an impact right away.

What’s the worst that can happen if you get him for the Covington TPE, the DET 2nd, and #57? We can see if he signs for 4 yrs/$40m, and if he doesn’t, he can bet on himself next year. In the near term, he is already an All Defense player who can only get better at shooting the ball and can be subbed in at key moments on defense during timeouts.

Would he be worth a drop from #7 to #12?

OKC
12 + Dort + 34 <-> #7

76ers
Dort <-> Thybull + Reed

Portland
7 <-> 12 + 34 + Thybull + Reed

For me, it wouldn’t be worth it. This is the difference between being on a good and bad team to me.

With Thybulle, I can probably get him for less than what he would be worth to us (which, his defense would be invaluable), then we do it. But if not, you draft the best available guy at #7 like Sharpe/Mathurin/Daniels.

To other posters’ point, Thybulle can’t shoot consistently yet. In the playoffs, it’s very likely that Hart and even Nas will end up getting more playing time.

I don't buy that there is much of a difference between guys at 6/7 and 13/14 in this draft.

Out of those 7-8 players, there are definitely some I really like (Murray, Dieng, Eason) & some I want to avoid (Griffin, Sharpe, Mathurin). I think there is a lot of value to trade down here.

LOL - apparently we have polar opposite views of Sharpe & Mathurin. Let's find out who is right....

Not high on Murray at all, but I like Dieng and Eason. I wouldn’t be mad at any of those guys but Murray though lol. I’ve come to really like a lot of guys in this draft, and would just wanna have two guys in those ranges.

For Collins, Atlanta’s known motivation to move the talented forward has swirled around the league, with San Antonio, Sacramento and Utah—in a potential swap for Gobert—considered the most legitimate potential landing spots for the 24-year-old. Portland’s Wednesday night acquisition of Grant from the Detroit Pistons, and the Trail Blazers’ priority of dealing the No. 7 pick for Anunoby, would seem to make Portland a less likely destination for Collins, despite frequent trade conversations between the Blazers’ and Hawks’ front offices.

The more I think about it, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we select Sochan at 7. He can play and guard 3/4/5, and if it takes a year for him to really pop, perfect timing as thats when we decide about Grant's future plus the Dame build is at least 2/3 year process. He can absolutely do some of the things Green does but has a better offensive game I predict. We need a disrupter to dual up with CJ E!......................
