Hard pass on Gordon. He sucks.

Every acquisition we make from now on needs to focus on DEFENSE first and foremost while not being a complete 0 offensively.

If you're looking at this move with Gordon as the "point" of the trade, you're looking at it wrong... This, to me, would be all about getting Duren, which could then give us the flexibility to S&T Nurk... Quite literally anything Hayward gives you in the positive is a bonus...

Prediction: we are getting OG or Lou Dort + picks

I think we are underrating Hayward. He’s a good wing and if you’re not asking him to be the focal point of an offense and playing 35+ min per game, he can be an awesome playmaking forward with decent defense.

Pretty sure we would lose the full MLE if we took on Gordon.

And I doubt Duren is available at 13. Mark Williams, maybe.

Gordon Hayward is a non-starter for me for any trade. Just no. That is some straight Olshey shit.

Hayward + 15 for Bledsoe, DiDi and Winslow?
Any players involved, or a simple trade down?

Hayward and a pick/pics for a combination of players. Portland would not be including #7. GH has a negative contract due to injuries that they would like relief from because they have to sign Bridges. Blazers would take on the salary, have a good SF (when he plays), and get a pick(s) for their trouble. Bledsoe + Winslow works. If we included DiDi, no one in Portland is losing sleep. It would save CHA future salary, current cap space, and give them a solid rotation piece in Winslow + a young asset if Didi is included.

As long as you're not giving up 7 (which, agreed, were that the case, would be a nonstarter) you just don't make the trade if he -- or whoever you're targeting -- isn't there. Pretty simple...

we wouldn't be in the tax for 2022-23 even with Gordon if we just give up Bledsoe/Winslow. That non-taxpayer MLE would still be available.

I agree completely. Although that would be a huge team salary number.
That would be around 140 million for just these 6 players:
Dame, Hayward, Grant, Ant, Nurk (or who we trade Nurk for) Hart

This is exactly the kinda move Olshey did NOT make because we never had this kinda cap and roster flexibility, and precisely what we need to do. I prefer this to attaching every asset we have for OG. And I LOVE the idea of doing all this without trading away 7.

Hayward would not be the target. The pick(s) are.

Quite correct.

Correct again. Dallas is also interested in Haywood.

Hayward and 15, and then we try to move up with 15 and 7 potentially. If we got Hayward and a pick for expiring, I love that move.
Would love it if we somehow came away with Grant and Hayward, and actually gained a current pick. Sharpe at 7, duren at 15? Lol

I get it. But, to me, Hayward and his ridiculous contract are not worth a late lotto pick.

In a vacuum, I'd agree, but a couple random thoughts in response:
1. Not my money.
2. This reaction is without context -- without knowing what the other opportunities available are, hard to make a definitive statement on it either way. If this is the best way to capitalize on Bledsoe's contract, so be it...
3. Bad contracts eventually become tradeable assets -- I'm purely reading tea leaves here, but it seems like Cronin is trying to build a bridge for Dame and post-Dame, and Duren + a large expiring contract aren't the worst assets to carry into a new era.

I'm certainly not sprinting to the top of the Moda Center to scream my excitement about this deal, but it feels like a good use of assets to me...

Bledsoe, Winslow, Didi JUST misses being enough money to land Hayward. Unless we wait to make it official on the new league year salaries.

ah... stupid Fanspo is already using 22-23 numbers. But waiting a week to finalize this is fine by me.

That's exactly what we'd do then, just like we are with Grant. It would still be announced today, ESPN would report whatever pick like it was being picked for us. Hayward and 13 for those guys makes sense.

If we can do this without giving up the 7th pick, it will completely change my opinion of Cronin.

I think the Blazers trading out is 50/50 at this point

IF trade then Thunder the obvious place BUT if they keep the pick unless someone surprising falls to 7 they will take .....

Duren -- I think the Blazers want someone to backup and maybe even replace Nurk in 3 years plus he would be insurance since Nurk has shown he has a hard time staying healthy plus Duren has crazy upside even if has legit BUST potential too
