This makes it look like 15 out of 45 but we probably did make the best out of the Tyrus Thomas pick even though he himself was a bust so 16 out of 45. I'm really not sure on some of them because I'm not going to go through every draft and see who was drafted before and after but it's fair to say that we've missed on over half of our first picks. How many times did the Blazers get it right?

Late '80 - late '90's, trash heap stuff. Now the 89- 92 Blazers were a great team, but management did nothing to keep it stocked for the future. Plus the Drexler for a, used up ,Otis Thorpe trade was a debacle as well. Trader Bob went nuts in Free Agency and created a potential title team, but nothing sustainable. Really, only a third of the Blazers 1st round selections have panned out. Wonder how other teams compare during the same era.Man, we’ve drafted a bunch of horrible players.
I'm with you but I don't think Grant is worth #7 and I feel like we could add both Grant and someone like Wood. Do you think it's unrealistic for the Rockets to take #7 for Wood and #17? Then do you think it would be unrealistic for the Rockets to take #17, the Bucks 2025 first and Bledsoe for Grant? After looking at the success of Blazer picks, I would do whatever it takes to bring Dame either Collins from ATL or Grant. If we had gotten lucky and obtained picks 1-3, I’d take a different approach, but man….are we kidding ourselves thinking that our “solid management” is going to strike gold with pick #7 or by trading back? No way!
The sage bet is the 7th and filler for Grant. I dont love it but oh well.
That feels like it would be fun! After Cronin informs Dame that he is unable to get Grant and still have a top 10 pick in this draft Dame privately asks to be traded soon before draft night.
We trade Dame to the Kings for the 4th pick, Fox and two future firsts.
We trade Fox to the Thunder for the 12th and 30th pick.
We trade the 7th to the Spurs for the 9th and 25th.
We trade the 25th and 30th to the Bulls for the 18th.
We trade the 36th and 55th to the Raptors for the 33rd.
We take Sharpe at number 4, we take Sochan at 9, we take Dieng at 12, we take Jovic at 18, we take Orlando Robinson at 25, we take Dalen Terry at 33.
This sets us up to make a max offer to Ayton.
Ant, Terry
Sharpe, Nas, Keon
Dieng, Jovik, Didi
Sochan, Justise, GB3
Ayton, Robinson, Trendon
This is the atomic option.
.
I have no idea why you term this a "sage bet", its a huge overpay and everyone knows it, best pick Detroit gets for Grant is maybe 13-15, more likely 16-20The sage bet is the 7th and filler for Grant. I dont love it but oh well.
of the 3 players you list this is how I rate them* acceptable trade A): Blazers trade #7 + #36 + 2025 Milwaukee 1st for Grant + #5
before everybody screams the Piston wouldn't do it (which they probably wouldn't, but you never know), they do get to clear 21M in salary while picking up an extra 1st and a high 2nd round pick for the low cost of moving down 2 places in the draft order
*****************************************************
* acceptable trade B): the much talked about Bledsoe + #7 for Collins + #16, then moving #16 for Grant. I'd be fine with throwing in the Bucks pick into that trade too
*****************************************************
* acceptable trade C: #7 for #17 + Christian Wood (into TPE). #17 + #36 + Bledsoe for Grant
******************************************************
barely acceptable trade D): Blazerkor's #7 for #13 + #15. then #15 for Grant (but not #13)
******************************************************
unacceptable trade A: #7 for Grant
I've been on the fence about him. Seems to be efficient scorer and good rebounder. Is it his defense you don't like?NO TO WOOD! He's no good. Forget him!
People will have to buy new TV’s.We're gonna trade 7 for Grant. People are going to be mad.
When he was with the Pistons his defense was really his biggest strength. For a guy his height he plays great on the permeter and he also plays well in the post... much better against 4s than 5s. He's a seriously good weakside shotblocker, which I've always wanted to see with Nurk.I've been on the fence about him. Seems to be efficient scorer and good rebounder. In order I like B, A, C and then D. What you said for trade B, I would also say for trade C, that I would be willing to switch out #36 for the Bucks pick if that's what it would take.* acceptable trade A): Blazers trade #7 + #36 + 2025 Milwaukee 1st for Grant + #5

meant safe bet! I agree its overpay but cronin will still tryI have no idea why you term this a "sage bet", its a huge overpay and everyone knows it, best pick Detroit gets for Grant is maybe 13-15, more likely 16-20

Yeh, I noticed almost all his stats better when he played at PF.When he was with the Pistons his defense was really his biggest strength. For a guy his height he plays great on the permeter and he also plays well in the post... much better against 4s than 5s. He's a seriously good weakside shotblocker, which I've always wanted to see with Nurk.

I’m not 100% sold on Woods but overall this would be a good set of trades!I'm with you but I don't think Grant is worth #7 and I feel like we could add both Grant and someone like Wood. Do you think it's unrealistic for the Rockets to take #7 for Wood and #17? Then do you think it would be unrealistic for the Rockets to take #17, the Bucks 2025 first and Bledsoe for Grant?
I think both deals would be taken by those teams. Wood hasn't been working out too well for Houston both from a success point of view and from what I've read there are some personality clash issues as well. I definitely think that Detroit getting a mid first rounder and a future first rounder along with an expiring contract would be enough for Grant.
For us I don't think we've ever put two forwards around Dame, CJ and Nurk than Grant and Wood... I also don't think you could get two guys that are a better fit. Assuming that Ant is going to be a better fit next to Dame than CJ or at least as good, this should give Dame the best team he's had since he's been at an all nba level. Dame, Ant, Grant, Wood, Nurk, Hart, Nas, Justise, pick 36, Trendon, Keon, Greg, Didi and pick 55 is a pretty exciting roster.
