What is your gut feeling on what Kevin Prichard will do?

When you hear about a player Kevin is interested in it's usually a smokescreen.

My gut feeling:

==Stephen Curry is a smokescreen

==As much as this hurts, Ricky Rubio is a smokescreen

The real player KP covets?

Johnny Flynn

No, he isn't drafted, but we aren't drafting another PG, IMO.

He isn't bringing in more rooks! Sign and trade or free-agent signings thats it! Bringin in the vets!

I don't have a gut feeling. KP always surprises me.

It's not a bad thing to upgrade your future players.

Bayless is a carbon copy of Jarrett Jack, only more athletic.

Flynn may only be 6'0" but he has a long reach and his standing reach is only an 1" shorter than the 6'3" Bayless.

Flynn is just the type of player I think KP would go after. He's a true PG that actually likes to defend.

Tremendous athlete who always seems to have the game under control ... A real competitor who wants to take the big shots and excels in the clutch. His performance in the 6 OT UConn game (16-16 FT) was a good example ... One of the quickest guards in college basketball. Exceptional at getting into the lane and fearless finishing (sometimes dunking) over power forwards and centers ... Though he doesn't look overly muscular, Flynn possesses – and utilizes – great body strength for a 180-pound guard ... Can use both hands to finish at the rim. Exhibits great body control and creativity to get his shot off against taller defenders ... Can get to the foul line as well as any point guard out there, creating contact at the rim ... Is a clutch performer who has knocked countless late-game free throws in his two-year career at Syracuse ... Makes the game look easy because of his elite speed and quickness ... Lockdown defender on the perimeter. Flynn enjoys playing defense and seems to take pride in shutting down opposing point guards ... Displays solid court vision and strong leadership abilities ... Has the basketball IQ, focus and skills to excel as a pick-and-roll point guard at the next level. Small but long. Has a 6'4 wingspan at just 5'11 barefoot.

I agree with you that we need vets. I hope we bring in Kirk Hinrich or a Jason Kidd but I also think Bayless is not the PG of the future. He's a natural SG who has to convert into a PG. Flynn, on the other hand, doesn't. KP wasn't kidding when he drafted Bayless when he called him "Jarrett Jack on steroids."

gut feeling? We'll trade up to draft Blair and pick up a vet PG later. I'd be pretty disappointed with a rookie PG not named Ricky Rubio. In the 2nd round, we'll draft almost nothing but euros and stash them.

KP will trade #24, and most of our 2nd round picks for a 2010 1st round pick to open up cap space this summer. He might also pick some Euros to stash. That should be the extent of the draft day activity.

The real fun begins July 1.

What the fuck is the comparison with Jarrett Jack? Has Jack been gone that long that you have forgot what made Jarrett Jack the guy we wanted to leave, and then say Bayless play like him. I do not recall Bayless only being able to dribble with one hand, ever, in any game. I recall Jack doing that all the time. I also recall Jack making game losing turnovers in critical times, when Bayless hasn't even been in the game long enough to committ a game losing turnover. How about the guy gets to play before he gets labelled the goat. Because that is what Jack was. He was the goat. He is one of those guys that finds a way to lose a game. Sure he plays hard, and gives it a good effort. But he finds you way to lose games. I don't think that Bayless has even had the chance to do that.

Agree with Curry and Rubio being smokescreens. There's no chance in hell McMillan would want an 18 year old PG that will require a lot of patience.

I'm buying the Ty Lawson interest.

Come draft time my gut feeling is he drafts a young PF and a young PG that makes very little impact next year. (as most don't) And trades Sergio to NY for very little in return.

In a couple of weeks he uses what salary, trade exemptions, Or Raef for a sign and trade for a player like Josh Childress or a back up vet PF.

He'll throw everyone off and take Thabeet and trade Oden to the Spurs for Tony Parker...

With KP, you never know what you're gonna get.

Honestly, I don't want that to happen and I have absolutely no inclination as to what he'll pull out of the magical hat.

He won't probably pull anything out of his hat this year. He might pull something out of something else at the rate it is going though. And it won't be a hamster.

i heard deke is on the market or maybe we could sign bird or rik smits ohhhh yeah!!!!!!! kirk rambus lets get some real vets!!!! I am a vet sign me!

I saw a vet down on the freeway ramp. Looks like he needed a job, he has only been pandhandling there for a decade. :devilwink:

My gut feeling is that, just like last year w/Bayless, KP will trade up in the draft and get a guy that hasn't been talked about as much as others.

YES!! Draft to Stash!!

I am sure KP is going to do something. He has a good history of draft day trades.

I would trade Sergio, rights to some Euro, 3m in cash, and a second round pick for in exchange for NY taking him off our hands and maybe an Arby's gift certificate.

We're trading Outlaw, Fernandez and Bayless to Memphis for Rubio and filler (Marco Jaric--he's got two years and $13 mil owed). Nate McMillan will go nuts and everybody will be scratching their heads. But it makes a ton of sense as a consolidation trade for us, and it gives Memphis a ton of options down the road.

I just made this trade up, but it's the kind of WTF thing Pritchard would do. He goes hard after the guys he wants, and I think he sees Rubio as the answer at PG for a decade (the way he saw Roy, Aldridge and Oden as the answers at three other spots). Thunder likely take Rubio at #3, so he'll do what it takes to get the man he wants at #2. It's a massive consolidation trade that nets us the best prospect, giving up a lot of quantity for quality.

We then make a run at Ron Artest. With luck and some good salesmanship on Artest we start the season with:

PG: Blake/Rubio
SG: Roy/Webster
SF: Artest/Batum
PF: Aldridge/Artest
C: Oden/Przybilla

That is a fucking kick ass team. We'd probably want to find a better backup than Webster for Roy. I expect Blake to lose the starting job by midseason, so maybe he plays a Steve Kerr role as a backup combo guard.

It'd suck to lose Fernandez and Bayless. Between them, they may combine for more all-star appearances over their careers than Rubio. But Rubio is the better fit, and the better talent. If you have the choice between a young Jason Kidd talent (Rubio), or a young duo of Stephon Marbury talent (Bayless) and Rip Hamilton talent (Fernandez), I think you have to take Kidd. Especially if you already have Brandon Roy.

(The one thing that might throw a monkeywrench into this idea is that we worked so hard to convince Fernandez to come here. Rubio will kind of be in the same boat, where he could opt to stay in Spain. Hopefully the way we handle Fernandez wouldn't impact his decision to come.)

Of course, if Webster never really recovers, we can't get Artest and Rubio takes a few years to get his footing, we're going to be kind of desperate. Maybe only get 50 wins. But if it comes together.....

See, that's the kind of risk KP has avoided in the past. He's usually a low-risk, high-reward kind of guy.

True. But is there really that much risk? I mean, 50 wins would still make most fans happy. Especially if Rubio were throwing a couple of crazy-good passes every game to remind us why we did it. It's half a step back to take two steps forward.

Rubio is the one guy in this draft that I want, so I wasn't referring to him per se.

The "risk" factor... I was considering that you were trading away Rudy and acquiring Artest.

Sergio to NY for TPE
Trade up in the teens by using some 2nds and nab DeJaun Blair
Will sign a vet pg and vet sf, one with cap space, one for a sign and trade

I'm all over this idea!

Do it now! Let Oden be someone else's disappointment!
