The American born white center, as rare as the unicorn

Melvin Frazier’s game and build reminds me of Josh Howard.

Oh that thread bump. How that bump made me jump!
I was like... this has to be Rasta. Yep.

Anyway, nice content.

Melvin Frazier’s dunk against UNC was one of the best college in game dunks I’ve ever seen.

Cool thing about Frazier is that Tulane runs a lot of pro type stuff since they’re coached by Dunleavy. Dunleavy is also close with Olshey. If Portland keeps the pick I could see him in their cluster, but ideally they’d buy a second and pick him up then.

Yea I could see Frazier being pretty good in about 4 years. Just sounded like Olshey was pretty focused on players that can help next season. If we could afford developing him for the next couple years he would be a solid 2nd rounder.

I saw pics of them doing some media interviews. I'd like to listen to Frazier, but I can't seem to find it.
Can someone please provide a link?

Of the guys in today's workout -- Brunson all the way.

He's perhaps the safest pick we could make at #24 -- also one of the most NBA-ready players in this draft.

A super solid backup PG -- think Eric Maynor in OKC before he tore his ACL.

Why would we need that? That sounds like someone you pick up in the second.

The #24 pick will make very little impact in his rookie year (think Caleb Swanigan). That’s why Portland will try to trade the pick. They are all about winning NOW, while Lillard is in his prime, and they’re going to try to add a veteran.

1. We don't have a second round pick
2. He's projected first round on every mock draft. Usually to the Warriors, because it's assumed that if it's a smart pick, they'll be making it.
3. Why do people discount bench players? It's actually our bench that's our problem. A great backup PG is a great thing to have, and certainly worth the #24 pick.

We already have a backup point guard to develop, don’t need to waste a first on another one.

"We already have Clyde Drexler at SG, we don't need to draft another one..."
"We already have Sebastian Telfair, we don't need to draft Chris Paul or Deron Williams..."

I assume you're talking about Baldwin? I don't see much evidence that he's a PG. If you're talking about Napier - is he even still under contract?

There will be possible starters available when we pick, but
a) literally nobody knows who they'll be, because it's totally dependent on factors that can't be quantified (by the time you get to that stage of the draft)
b) Brunson could be starter-level down the road and even if he doesn't start for us (except if Lillard is injured) he could be a trade piece, like Reggie Jackson.

Just about everybody agrees that Brunson will stick in the league, and you can't say that about pretty much any other player who'll be available.

70/4 Max Contracts for Trent, Holiday and Frazier incoming
That's kind of the point of drafting a pipeline of talent that may not be all that and a bag of chips today, but you have on rookie scale for 4 years...You don't NEED to pay 70M over 4 for a rookie, no matter how much a GM likes him. And if you have, I don't know, an 80% Shabazz Napier (who may get 3/27M or so this offseason) making rookie scale, you don't even need to give big contracts out to "promising/light hasn't come on yet" players. Like, say, Moe or Meyers.

The Blazers' 2nd predraft workout features: Miami G Bruce Brown, Villanova G Donte DiVincenzo, Cincinnati G/F Jacob Evans, Georgia Tech C Ben Lammers, USC F/C Chimezie Metu and France G Elie Okobo.

What I want the Blazers to do, seems impossible... Shed Meyers or ET and move up to the mid-lower teens in the draft.
I don’t necessarily mean in one move but if they got both of those things done this summer while keeping Dame / Nurk / CJ I think it’d be ok with it. Maybe doesn’t “move the needle”...
