LOL, nice reply, mornin gents, the rumors keep flyin like they will till draft day, Drummond at #2?

Drummond looked pretty damn good in the Sac workout I saw. The good thig is, if we keep the #6 pick, I am comfortable with 7 players. Not that I know anything. I thought Roy would be a very average NBA player, and wanted Gay instead

agree with that, someone good will be available, what's interesting is if Char did draft Drummond at #2 where does Trob fall to?

IMO, #3. Washington could use him.

The number of teams that need a Blake Griffin type PF are about 25-28

Drummond and Waiters, That's whay I want

Not that i has anything to do with what will actually happen, but draftexpress.com has updated their mock draft and now have us taking Drummond at 6 and Waiters at 11.

No Soup Juggler (until voting is complete, this is what I am going with)

They also have us taking Kyle O'Quinn at 40 and Jae Crowder at 41.

I'd be happy with a Drummond, Waiters, O'Quinn, Crowder draft, but I'd like to see us try to land another pick in the 20s or better still in the mid-teens. Man, this really is a deep draft. There is a drop off in talent after the top 6 or 7 picks, but I think there will be a LOT of solid NBA players take in the mid-teens and 20s of this draft, and more 2nd rounders that stick than in most drafts. This draft is really deep in big men, much more so than any draft I can remember. Not a lot of potential superstar bigs, but a lot of guys that will eventually be starters and very solid reserves. There is a definite shortage of quality big men in the NBA these days. This draft is a chance to "stock up" and get 2 or 3 bigs capable of making an NBA roster. That's what makes this draft so much deeper than most.

FWIW, today's SF Chronicle reports Warriors interested in Drummond at #7.

Can't imagine a scenario where he lasts until 7. If he is still on the board at 6, do we trade back a pick and add some assets

No, if Drummond is available at 6 we take him and count our blessings. He would be BPA and fill a need. You can't ask for more with the 6th pick.

I agree, but playing Devil's advocate, is Drummond more valuable than say Lillard and #30? Or Lillard and Brandon Rush?

I guess it depends on how good you think Lilliard is going to be. Personally I think he's going to struggle making the transition from Tiny Weber St. to the NBA and becoming a capable setup man vs. being the entire focal point of his team's offense. Throwing in the 30th pick just means a crack at a player who is unlikely to ever be much more than bench fodder. Drummond scares the hell out of me too, but at least he has the physical tools to maybe become something truly dominant.

Fair enough. But is there anybody else likely to be on the board with as much "room" to get better? Using the tiered ranking system, I think 6 is right about where things fall off.

I think it's going to end up around 9 or so, honestly

Davis
Robinson
Drummond
MKG
Beal
Barnes
Lillard
Rivers
Ross

Will all show they belong no worse than the 5-6 range

I'll take BPA (Drummond) over his runner-up plus a scrub/long shot. Quality over quantity.

I guess my point is that if Drummond is a tier 2 guy and so is someone like Lillard, then adding either one of them while also adding additional assets might not be a bad thing? If Drummond is the highest rated tiered player on the board when we draft, then that would change things. Again, Devil's advocate. I would take Drummond

Yes I believe Drummond is more valuable then a tiny SG. The only way I would do that trade is if you actually thought Lillard was the superior prospect, then you are getting the player you prefer and a tiny asset.

The #30 or Brandon rush is irrelevant when you’re talking about getting the best player in the top7 of a strong draft.

Lillard

are all clearly in the next tier down IMO.

They certainly might be right now, but IMO that will even out as time goes on. I however am of the opinion that there is no way Drummond drops to 6 anyway, so this is really a moot argument

I hope someone else takes the risk and we get a guy like MKG, Robinson, Barnes instead.
