Update we are the the 16th pick and good chance Bey will still be on the board.

If you look at the draft, there was an uncharacteristic slew of excellent choices RIGHT BEFORE we picked Nas. We probably thought we were going to get at least one of them, so Nas was sort of a consolation.

I mean, I think we'd all LOVE to have taken Thybulle, Clark, Bazley and possibly even Williams over Nas, but they were gone. Is there an obviously better player than Nas picked later?
Candidates:
Eric Paschall at 41 (but his defense is very suspect, and would Nas look good if he'd had the minutes available that Paschall did?)
Bol Bol at 44. This is probably the one that hurts the most. Perhaps in the old days Paul would've ponied up the money to buy at second rounder and we could've had him.

I had us taking Bazley and would have loved to trade up if needed. Such a perfect fit.

Several mock drafts show us picking at 14 as it appears the standings for draft might have been frozen when the league was postponed. Seems the best way since not all teams were in Orlando and not all teams played the same amount of games. If true, nice to have the 14th pick and a good chance to make the playoffs also.

Tankothon has us picking at 16

I watched Jalen Smith today. He is tailor made for our system imo. Very good in pick and pop. Reminds me of Myles Turner. Don’t need to give a full scouting report but if he’s there when we pick.....

We need a PG, SF, or C that can contribute off the bench day 1, badly. Idc about upside I want playability.

That’s the exact opposite of what they should be doing. The draft is not where a playoff team should be looking for role players for the following season. That’s what free agency is for.

Then move the pick, we have plenty of young players rn. I just want a player who we can rely on to be consistent.

What are the thoughts on grabbing Trevelin Queen in this upcoming draft?

Aside from.the funny name, dude has all we need (2way player with good size and pesky defender and good offense), major chip on shoulder relentless worker but very grounded and he's another mid major product (New Mexico State (Siakam's alma mater)). Great fit culture wise and skillset wise.

Reminds me of a Kerry Kittles type in projected NBA role and body type. And thats close to a perfect match of what we need.

Phooey. I would rather package the pick with Collins, Simons, and Little in the hope of getting one decent player. The Blazers are a 35 win team with a horrible bench. We can't afford to keep wasting draft picks and roster spots on noncontributors.

Correction. We are a 35 win shortened season without Nurkic, Collins, and Hood. We were 7-2 in the bubble with Nurkic and Collins but without Hood and Ariza.

I wouldnt mind a Monk + Washington + McDaniels (or defensive Martin twin) for Zach + Ant + Little. I like Nas and Ant's upside, but Wahsington is just too perfect a fit and McDaniels would be interesting too. Charlotte has little reason to bite though.

It's funny that we've just SQUEAKED into the playoffs with a string of amazing games... and you guys are focused on the draft.

not strange. few days off, some glaring holes, some dispensible pieces and draft lottery in 4 days.

This is the logic that leads people to throwing Gary Trent into trade proposals as filler

Same will happen with Little. Watch.

And no this isn’t a 35 win team. Not with Nurkic.

Horrible bench? Only because they’re missing two key players. If they’re healthy this team is at least 9 deep. Playoff rotations are usually 8-9 players. Their biggest needs going into the offseason will be a backup point guard and maybe another big depending on Whiteside. Not that difficult to fill.

I suppose this is as good a place as any for this:

news is that Vlade Divacs is out as Kings' GM. That takes away about the biggest safe place for Olshey and his bargain bin trades. The last time the Blazers had #15, it was Vlade who gave Olshey the opportunity to take Zach at 10

Gary Trent Jr has worked well. Any other former Blazers have kids we should look to draft?
I actually know Kenny Carr's son. He ain't a basketball player though. He is in great shape but i don't think he would be interested.

Is this the defensive minded Martin or the other one we are seeing?
