Those in my church who voted for him did so primarily in opposition to Hilary rather than in support of Trump. Many of them specifically because of their opposition to abortion and fear of an overly liberal Supreme Court.
Exactly... They knew that Hillary would appoint liberal judges that they feared would take away their religious and constitutional liberties.

why the rediculous lies about it?

Why are you libs so obtuse? What the fuck makes you think he is lying? Is too difficult for your pee brain to grasp concepts? Only a midget mind hangs on expression as if it must be a precision script.
Dumb has taken control of this forum since the absolute defeat of liberalism. Now you fall to obtuse as plan B.

Pronouncements like these are just as ridiculous and premature as doom and gloom proclamations from the naysayers asserting that he'll destroy the country and the economy and plunge us into war and eternal darkness.

Can't people on both sides of the fence just sit back and let him actually do something (no, meetings resulting in nebulous promises don't count) before we start writing the man's epitaph?

Umm, he's a complete fucking liar. There really isn't an argument against that...I mean he's a politician for gods sake lol. If you really want I'll post a list of lies he has told. I mean, come on.

Sorry if you can't handle that.

CNN? LOL who listens to them anymore. Complete fake fucking news.

The new head of the SEC defending Wall Street operatives against the SEC. Reportedly Trump had considered another candidate, but decided against her as she, while being a top corporate attorney, had also been a former prosecutor with a reputation for being tough who had prosecuted gang violence and financial fraud. Trump did not want a tough prosecutor in the job. Fill the swamp!

He is going to be president, we can only hope he succeeds, and does well in the job. It doesn't mean democrats agree with what he is doing or will do. Unfortunately he is the president, and I think most people on all sides of the spectrum want him to do well and protect this country, yet he hasn't been inaugurated yet, and he is already best friends with Putin, using Twitter as a pulpit for his absurd rants (Trumpspeak) saying things no president should say, and the list goes on, et al. As a Democrat, as an American, I hope that he will be a successful president, that he will help this country, but his lack of experience, his actions, and his fragile temperament thus far leave little optimism. I want him to be a successful president. I want his presidency not to be a con job, for the government not to become a kleptocracy. But, you wish in one hand and shit in the other, and guess what you get first.

I think it says a lot about the 43% who don't.

I think deep down they want him to be a good president, to succeed, there is still just a lot of anger, its all still fresh. There is a lot of fear.

"Do you want the president to succeed?" is a loaded question. It implies that the President succeeds in bringing forth the agenda that the President wants. If you don't agree with the agenda, why would you want the president to succeed in bringing about an agenda you disagree with? This is not mutually exclusive with wanting America to succeed. Surely the President's agenda could be thwarted, but America still succeeds. Or, the President could change the agenda to one that is more palatable and those same 43% could then say, no I want the President to succeed at that.

It used to be normal. We have (mostly) forgotten what life was like before 2008. Everyone, well, the big majority, wanted the incoming president to succeed in the sense that they hoped the country would continue to get better, problems solved, life improved, etc. Even if they did not vote for the incoming president. And Congress acted in the same manner. Of course the opposing party tried to get some of their agenda. But they never said they wanted a new president to fail.

Until 2008. When Rush Limbaugh shouted he wanted Obama to fail. Some Republicans tried to dissent, to remember it's one country and Obama's victory was unquestionable. They were blasted over talk radio/TV and lined up to apologize to Limbaugh. And then Trump and others floated the idea the President was not really the President because he was not American-born, so was not legitimate and undeserving of respect given the office. And the very day President Obama was inaugurated, Senator McConnell gathered the Republican congressional leaders, House and Senate, to vow to block everything he tried to do. Even the things they supported had to be blocked to keep him from having a victory.

So to say 57% (actually a pretty low percentage) of Democrats say they want Trump to succeed is to say 57% of Democrats want to go back to the way the country used to act. Before Barack Obama had the nerve to be black.

Fair enough.

The media is going to stir up shit and incite anger towards him until his 8 years are done, though.

Democrats should be held to a low standard now.

OK.
